    Saying that the new STI is a "one trick pony" is beyond silly. A Jaguar F-type or a Mercedes AMG GT are one trick ponies. This thing is extremely spacious inside with a terrific visibility compared to anything these days, has very comfortable seats, a massive trunk with folding rear seats, etc. In other words, it's a perfectly practical vehicle to have as your one and only car, not to mention that its AWD makes it highly desirable if you are in a part of the world where you get a bit more than just dry and rainy weather. And no, you don't have to drive it on the side roads to enjoy it thoroughly. I drove one recently in the city over plenty of bumps and the suspension is nowhere near as harsh as some reviewers make it out to be. It is simply communicative. It will not break your back, it will just make you feel that you're driving and it will keep you nice and flat at all times. It is a straightforward, honest sports sedan that focuses on performance and driving experience rather than luxury, quietness, and fuel economy. So the fact that you get a fairly hardcore track-ready car while still having all the practicality of a regular sedan is the exact opposite of the (rather tired) point you are trying to make about it.

      true! also people get high 20's mpg when driven normally. also milage depends on distance and weather condition. the engine will burn up 30% more fuel if below starting temp. noise can be fixed with dampening material. my sister has a Lexus gs and its awd. if the interior was like this subie the car still be around 50k. people hate on Subaru..but the company truly cares about its followers and are not baiting them because of its history and heritage but use it as endurance that they have put allot of their heart and knowledge into it. Subaru is awesome and so are their products.

    So sick of hearing reviewers knock this car for its firm ride, I am sure if Subaru wanted to make the suspension more like a Camry they would have, but guess what? its not a Camry, its a performance sedan. Its like knocking a Camry because it doesn't corner well in the wet at 100km/h. The whole Golf R thing is getting tiring, great car but stop comparing it to an STI.

      siXis If public road racing justifies your crumbling ego than you shouldn't sit at a wheel in a first place. I've seen my share of assholes on road who rev engines, make hand signs, and are always ready for a red light launch competition. All I do in such a situation is shake my head and face palm.

      Ruairi Toale - The ones who put the Golf R on a pedestal are the euro-worshippers, who usually happen to be euro-cunts. The WRX is a legend for a reason and that reason is that it has earned the respect from years of capability.

    • @oddities-whatnot
      @oddities-whatnot 10 месяцев назад

      Ive driven Golf R through my old job in the motor trade. I liked the manual version better than DSG and its a quick car but in the UK it has a bad image, often driven by dodgy blokes up to no good. They get stolen a lot as well. I wouldn’t ever buy one for those reasons. Also, that fake noise in sport mode, it becomes very tedious after a while. Subaru noise is not faked, its just a great boxer engine sound.

    Subaru is the fastest growing car manufacture in the US. There are backorders of over 2-3 months at times. I have a 2015 WRX and the car is a dream - 268hp, over 30mpg on the highway (25 mpg when doing high reeving and racing through the mountain passes) and 0-60 in 5 seconds. Sure the car is a bit stiff and the road noise is a little loud but the car is rated a best buy in the US and has received many awards for a reason. Also the cars are not called "Impreza" anymore...

      +dcx I agree with you after test driving one re comfortable and fun to drive.
      I think in the context of the cars on the market though he does have a point, this is uncomfortable in comparison, but that's a negative as most cars are so boring...if all manufacturers continue to be influenced by the German brands then no new affordable cars will be fun.
      For the record, I thought the 2015 Sti could afford to be more raw than it is, the 2008-2014 model sounds louder/better.
      The saloon body letter-box opening for the boot that prevents you from storing bikes in the boot puts me off though, give me a hatchback any day.

    I don't agree with his interior comments. Nor his ridiculous comments at the end of the video. He obviously has a bios against the WRX/STI. Yes, it's not a BMW interior, but I love my 2016 (slight upgrade from the 2015 model). The interior is a vast improvement from the 2008-2014 models. The seats feel great, how the steering wheel feels and there are much more soft surfaces that before. Are there rooms for improvement - yes, but overall - Good Job Subaru !

      @stinkypete2548 8 лет назад

      oh yeah 100 percent agree. i own a 2002 wrx sti and the interior is the only thing i HATE about my car. i wish it looked like it was a 52,000$ car but i looks like a mx5 interior. but then again the interior of the 2002 feels like a Japanese car and gives it a classic feel.

  • @patrickford9615
    @patrickford9615 9 лет назад +17

    Why did you choose a track car STi and then bi tch about the ride quality? If you want comfort and less lag, try the normal WRX. Seriously, unless you are going to track it often, skip the STI and get the WRX. Cheaper, more comfort and 90 percent of the performance. At the end, you said that for the same money as STI you could get something more comfy. Well, STI is for PRFORMANCE. It will beat up on cars costing twice as much or more. YOU DID NOT NEED TO DO THIS REVIEW. Go review a Corolla.

    I have a 2015 STI and I agree with almost everything he said, pros and cons. But I love mine and clearly I am not the only one.
    In America the STI is in the highest demand. Tied with the new Mustang. Both spend a average of six days in showrooms before being sold.

    • @AyceTech
      @AyceTech 9 лет назад +5

      Its the wrx, not the sti, that is selling extremely quick. It's mostly due to the new engine and lower price

    • @LordBuckeye
      @LordBuckeye 9 лет назад +2

      Hakop Agazaryan Actually Subaru has not been able to keep with demand on the STi either. When I bought my 2015 STi, the waiting list was 6 months. The closest 2015 STi was 600 miles away from where I live.

    • @AyceTech
      @AyceTech 9 лет назад +1

      larva2112 the numbers are the for the wrx. Also where i live, the dealers had sti everywhere but couldn't keep wrx's on the lot. That's how its been at most places

    • @Sparatan117
      @Sparatan117 9 лет назад +2

      Hakop Agazaryan I've heard it's the case for both the WRX and the STI although both seem to be flying off the showroom floor faster than I can keep track of. Every time I've gone in for an oil change or maintenance bit, they seem to have a new STI in there... so I know it's not sticking around for long...

  • @hellfire72

    It's a good thing that most people buying this car will throw an exhaust on it to hear the boxer rumble. They will probably add coilovers as well.

  • @AbendscheinLGN
    @AbendscheinLGN 9 лет назад +1

    the new STI hits Turbo at 3200 RPMs because it's so huge, and it's a short shifter. It's meant for performance. The WRX (One step down), has turbo kick in around 2K RPMs and has a smoother, longer shifter. Which is kind of boss as hell.

    • @goober5713
      @goober5713 5 лет назад

    Stiff ride, its a road rally capable car out the factory, what more can you expect, the interior is by far the best in any STI generation and they have really stepped up their interiors.

    gotta take exception to some of his comments...loud and uncomfortable? Good God man, if you want a soft ride take the limo. I took a ride in my old subaru today, a 91 wagon with upgraded everything. 89 db in the cabin at cruise with windows up and that seems quiet to me. LMFAO

    If it aint broke, don't fix it. Your average joe isn't buying this car because it's a great family car. It's a damn Subaru. If you want a supple drive, look elsewhere. It's a niche. And imho, it has changed. It looks more modern, but with that subaru recipe. I love it.

    OK, a Britt talking about comfort, PLEASE!!!! they are so PRO EURO that they think the "cabin" is much nicer in an AUDI.
    Come to America my friend and we can tell you about a nice cabin. I drove an Audi and the STI and I am older than you are and the STI cabin is the reason why I chose the Subaru over it's Euro counterpart. I like sitting in seats not surf boards. There is no comparison. For a sports car, the STI is much more comfortable PERIOD

    When are car companies going to stop bolting little Micky Mouse turbo chargers to their "rally ledgend" cars ?

    • @CasualCallabrate
      @CasualCallabrate 9 лет назад

      Think about it . Years ago when the Ford siererra coswerth was around it had a massive Garrat turbo and now with the new turbo cars like the Subaru's and evos , they use TD04 turbos which are a lot smaller than the garret Turbos and a lot less reliable. What I'm trying to say is if they put some garret turbos on the cars. Obviously Subaru would have to forge the Block but they do that anyway on the sti's

    • @Sparatan117
      @Sparatan117 9 лет назад +2

      KingOfCarnage think about what you just said... in a mass market appeal... where you have to tune the car for everything from people who have 91 octane to 93 octane and variants of that .... and then trying to make a reliable turbo for a car that is probably going to be beat like a red headed step child...
      Also they have to comply with the EPA and because they're not a domestic manufacturer, they have to comply with importing regulations as well... so... just enjoy them for what they are and the ease of use
