    Boy you should see the number of yellow warning stickers around my Hybrid battery area (separate from the engine battery). Basically, it says don't touch at all for any reason unless you are a certified service tech. I believe them because the power is much higher. Great tips in your video.

      Thanks! I've watched videos on changing out the hybrid batteries. It's a very interesting procedure. I wonder if everyone understands how important it is that all fasteners be torqued properly. Both videos I watched were on Prii. (plural of Prius)

    On newer cars, the pcm has to be reset to a “new battery”, over the age of the battery the pcm increases the charging voltage that may damage the new battery

    *DIY Poor Mans Memory Saver* use another 12V small battery or regular size, connect with wired alligator clips
    for those of us who know how, beginners use caution... i remember once when only had one jumper cable and it was the black cable friends said "that's for the negative side" i gave them the side eye connected to positive, then pushed car bumpers together car started up. Loved That Jam at the end 🎸

    You'd think with all of the electronics involved in these cars, they would have something like a capacitor to bleed enough voltage to maintain memory for a designated period of time. That gadget is the next best thing. Thanks for the info.

    Same order for Jumper cables when jump starting a car, right?

    • @SparkyChannel
      @SparkyChannel  6 месяцев назад +6

      Here's the correct order for your jumper cables:
      RED to DEAD: Connect the red clip to the positive terminal on your dead battery.
      RED to DONOR: Connect the red clip to the positive terminal on the donor vehicle's working battery.
      BLACK to DONOR: Same car! ...
      BLACK to METAL: Back to the dead battery.
      I don't recommend jumping newer cars with jumper cables though, as it can mess with their electronics. I prefer something like: NOCO Boost Plus GB40 1000A UltraSafe Car Battery Jump Starter, 12V Battery Pack, Battery Booster, Jump Box, Portable Charger and Jumper Cables for 6.0L Gasoline and 3.0L Diesel Engines: Amazon: amzn.to/3R6gwOK

    When attaching a memory saver, don’t turn on your headlights if you have a typical one with modest power. Or do anything else in the that uses power. If you do, the battery saver can’t keep up and bye-bye settings. Watch that force of habit. (No need to ask how I know…)

    • @SparkyChannel
      @SparkyChannel  6 месяцев назад +1

      Good tip! Yes, on my memory saver it just gives enough energy to get the job done. It sure is nice to have all of your same settings when the new battery is installed though.
