    I currently have an XP pen 24 and I am completely satisfied with it. I had used wacom for years, but then someone gave me a demo to try, smaller than the 24, but it worked so well that I dumped my big clunky wacom. I used that for awhile and they I ordered a 24. The results have been great. It is lighter than a wacom display, but not too light. The colors and resolution are great. The price is amazing, I think, for the quality of the product. No glitches or problems so far...I've had the 24 for about a year now. There are not shortcut buttons on the xp-pen display, but I never used the ones on the wacom anyway. At this price, I can buy a new one about every 3 years and be financially ahead of having purchased a Wacom. This is completely sufficient for any kind of professional graphics work.

    Great review!
    Oh boy, do times change, eh?
    I remember back in the 80's thinking, "I hope I live long enough to see somebody invent a Digital Drafting Board! I'm SURE it's possible. Can you imagine?? It'll be SO cool!"
    Not only did it actually happen, but it got here earlier than I thought.
    In another 20 years, I hope to see really good color eInk screens which behave like paper and are the whole surface of a drafting board. We can get back to having desk lamps. Nothing is more romantic than having a nice lamp to illuminate your work. (I'm SURE it's possible. Can you imagine? It'll be SO cool!)

    The occasional stroke being ignored could be down to the Windows double-click distance/timing being set too loosely. It's a good idea to reduce the double click spacing and timing when using a tablet (you probably know this already, just mentioning it for the comment section)

    Looks awesome. I got an xp pen deco pro medium, and I had to use their warranty service. I can't say any bad things about it, their tablets are great, and their service is awesome too.
    The only disadvantage of this tablet was their mediocre software, but they have updated it since last year, and it is great as well now.

    ive had this for a year now, I don't experience the jitter but it does ignore a stroke once in a while and I couldn't figure out how to fix that but its bearable. Moved up from a intuos.

    • @3polygons
      @3polygons 3 года назад

      Intuos is more sensitive to light strokes. Those that misses IMO are due to not being able to detect very light pressure. It could be just not catching up/lag. It's a similar problem than with Huion. The Wacom latest pen tech is superior (even intuos 4 is, and that's 2009). I wanted it to be otherwise.... I have now a Huion Kamvas 22, and I only use it as a references monitor, as my old Intuos 4 XL gives me _a lot_ more control over the strokes, specially while painting, and overall accuracy.
      Coming from Wacom to Huion or XP, in those aspects it's like a downgrade. But I can see how for those totally needing a display-tablet, Cintiq prices are prohibitive. I've discovered that after so many years of training, I have more control with a classic tablet and so can use a very high end monitor, too. But yeah, I would not put 2.5k $ in a tablet, that's for sure. And the Cintiq 22 non pro... it's only sRGB coverage, no disc, no buttons, etc. Still, I should have gone for that instead of the Kamvas 22, but I took it in an offer for 400 $. It serves well as a second monitor.

    • @ArtfulCosumDust
      @ArtfulCosumDust 3 года назад

      @@3polygons I think drawing tech is subjective. Personally, the XP PEN pressure curve is far superior to light strokes than my old Wacom personally. Maybe I'm not using it right, but it feels more fluid. Though that is subjective. I still love my Intous however.

    • @3polygons
      @3polygons 3 года назад

      @@ArtfulCosumDust I want to believe that... As in a way, not happy that one brand has the monopoly of quality. But Huion has been a bit a low down for me... Still, the Kamvas 22 is doing fine, but it's bad for painting for even basic shading, in my opinion. The Kamvas 22 still is much better than Huion's classic tablet ( I bought it in the same day, months ago) Inspiroy 1409 V2. Very large classic tablet (btw, with that I mean a non-display tablet) , but really bad in pressure, no matter how one configures it (and I am kind of an expert with tablets, since '91...).
      I want to believe that about XP-Pen, and because the XP-Pen Deco Pro MEDIUM is dirty cheap, I might end up getting one of those if I have no other chance... My Wacom pen got fried, and I got to discover it's just the pen, as I tested it with a Wacom Intuos 4 Small, and the blobs, lag and disconnection happen there, too. So, I'm guessing the actual XL tablet is yet fine (less probable that both things got wrecked at the same time, but after 12 years, who knows), I just ordered a Wacom intuos 4 pen, with many nibs(although I have just used like 2 or 3 in 12 yrs, lol) , on Amazon. If it ends up being that the tablet is also wrecked (goodbye to the 100 bucks for the pen and nibs, lol), and as is not the greatest moment to pony 500 euros for a current Wacom L , I might just get the Xp Pen Deco Pro medium. For now the Kamvas 22 is working, but with a collection of issues that makes me go slower and with less accuracy. Still a ton better than with the Inspiroy 1409 v2. Fun fact: Am using it as a classic tablet, as my NEC Spectraview (NEC PRO line in USA) does display colors with more accuracy after hardware calibration than this much newer Huion Kamvas 22 (Kamvas 22 Plus was rather better, QLED and etc, but was more expensive) . And... because aftter so many years of training, now I paint with _way_ more control and speed on a classic than a display tablet, lol (or maybe wouldn't be the case with a cintiq Pro 24/32, but I guess I'll never know that :D :D ). And got used to have the monitor at 30 - 40 cm from me, to be comfortable. This Huion monitor is yet good as a references / extra panels / other apps monitor (is like a main stream monitor, just a bit better), is the use am gonna end up going back to.

    The missed strokes is probably just because like with Huion's, it is not able to register light pressure strokes as subtle as even a Wacom Intuos Medium can. If the user, like it's here probably the case, is used to a Wacom, might be surely doing a bit too light strokes often, for what the tablet can detect. Overall, you get more precision and subtlety yet with a Wacom, even with a medium, a pen-tablet with no display. But if really willing to go for a large pen-display (I am convinced that with the right training, you are better off with a Wacom Intuos or Intuos Pro, non display) this is quite an option to consider, as yeah. 2.5k for a tablet is not for every pocket.

      From what I know, Xp-Pen is the more reliable company.

    • @3polygons
      @3polygons 3 года назад

      Huion is fine. As XP, kind of.
      XP has been reported to have problems registering fast impressions (very easy to notice with pointillism). And just like Huion, both have issues to register light pressure (the 8k pressure levels on specs tells only a very small part of the story), both while painting (ie, oils style, digital painting in general) as with light sketching/shading. It even affects for natural inking.
      I have a Kamvas 22 (non Plus, neither Pro) at home, using it as a second monitor, not anymore for painting. It is completely fine, but I was amazed to discover that the pen control is _way_ superior in an old Intuos (that's why I'm heading to purchase a Wacom L, funnily, not even a display tablet. Because that pen is even better! And well, I have good screen-eye coordination, no probs with classic tablets. If I ever get me another display-tablet, it's gonna be a Cintiq. But the pro one). That said, is not that you can't work with Kamvas. It's fully functional!. But having a lot more control over pressure and line accuracy even with an Intuos XL from 12 years ago, I realized I was going to slow down my work and loose control (and...believe it or not, comfort. Working with a separate monitor at your preferred distance is a joy), only just to be drawing with a display-tablet, lol.
      Sth almost no one mentions is that with the XP 24 it has been detected to happen in several reviews, that it has big issues to select stuff in the corners (menu items, the X to close the window, etc) of the screen (I mean, even after calibrating for position), making it workflow breaking, actually. As far as I remember, it happened in the XP 24 model, not in the Huion 24 one (don't quote me on this, but if I remember well, in Huion 24's it could be dealt with, but still happened a bit) . Obviously this is not an issue with a classic tablet (be it from Huion, XP o Wacom).
      In terms of great quality/price ratio, Huion has its Kamvas 22 *Plus* , with a QLED screen of much higher quality in color and every other aspect of a screen (after tests, it seems much better in color and other matters than these two 24 ones! ). That'd be my recommendation. But I do agree with everyone saying that working in 24", and with higher res than 1080p, is MUCH better. I am in the group that don't mind that much the 1080p, even while I've handled retina displays. 1080p is functional, is not a problem. I work professionally in illustration and several other graphic profiles, and I know it's not a big issue. But really, I see as great purchases : Huion 24, Huion Kamvas 22 *PLUS* (not the "pro" line, no need and is much more expensive), XP-Pen Deco PRO *MEDIUM* (in general, getting a size bellow 10 inches wide is a mistake unless is only for photo retouch and pixel art), Xp-Pen Deco 03 (if the budget is ultra tight but for 50$ more the Deco Pro Medium is really much better). For me, the best purchase now for a professional, below 1k $ is a Wacom Intuos Pro L (not the paper version; or I don't see much advantage on their Paper. The vectors transfer that it makes does not convince me. But as a tablet, IMO Wacom L is simply the best device out there, out of a Cintiq 24 or 32).

    • @3polygons
      @3polygons 3 года назад

      BTW, about companies' reliability... whatever the brand, just get it from their store in AMAZON. Is the safe path, IMO. This is what I made with my Kamvas 22. No problems of anything at all.

      @@waldos.429 That is indeed very nice, however I was looking at the 24 inch models by XP-Pen und HUION. Both 1440p, the HUION has a laminated screen as I just found out. I think at 24 inch the 1440p resolution could be sufficient and that I would prefer the larger screen over 16 inch.

      @@waldos.429 ps. with your comparison, at least on paper the HUION Kamvas Pro 16 PLUS would be the best choice.

    This tablet has a problem with accuracy in the borders of the screen. A problem when handling top menus or the close or minimize icon of the app window, for example. It might vary with th eunit you received, but what I have seen is a very severe misplacement in the borders, which can lead to even an icon not being clickable in anyway. Thing is, a Huion Kamvas 22 Plus does not have this issue (it's also a qled screen, quite a good one).

    I just want to make pencil b&w/gray-toned, highly detailed drawings that would print up to 22x30 inches without going all pixelated and not break my bank. Is this my best choice? 900 bucks is very attractive. Any other suggestions?

    8:11 I hate seeing that. Looks like the initial pen activation is still bad on XP-Pen tablets. It requires more force than Wacom tablets. And as someone with a super light touch, that's always a deal breaker for me.
