Your Power BI content is so unique in terms of what it teaches. I'm always amazed by what you come up and without a doubt one of the/if not most powerful Power BI content creators. Honestly stunned with how you even come up with this, amazing!!!!!
Brilliant as ever - and I love the way you race through the presentation. Gives us the option to follow through with stop and starting while copying every actions, or just to listen through a great vies (no need to adjust playback speed!) 1 thing you might have added - if you group both card and button using the selection pane, it becomes possible to move both around the screen together.
And one more. Even if the implementation is not easy, the method is very well described and it remains only to follow the instructions to the letter. Thanks Bas
This provided me at least two ideas to implement: hover over a button to see an explanation text and trying the FORMAT thing within a SWITCH function. Thank you, Bas!!
There is another method that i used - i created a tooltip page with data that i need and used it as tooltip for card, it works fine. And it seems quite right, but there is at least one scenario when it won't work - it's when we use non-standard visualization without tooltip implementation, and there your solution should work. Also, i really like Card with States visual by OKViz - it's really quite powerful card, and there is a dynamic template which activated only with license - but the thing is that you can obtain license for totally free, so this functionality also may work. Nevertheless nice video, i'll try to keep this thing in mind and try to implement it.
Solid gold. So many great techniques laid out in this video. I've been using Unichar (10) for a while, but didn't know about the empty space insertion technique. One question - mousing over cards is not a standard behavior. Have you thought about the ways you would provide visual cues to the user to do so in order for them to see the great "on hover" effect you've created here?
All your videos are extremely impressive, I subscribed long ago, you deserve to have more subscribers, but I suppose this is quite a niche channel. Amazing work and thank you for all your examples!
Good as usual, thanks for the innovative ideas. Just a thought why cant we use two KPI we can instead of the button with on hover option then we may reduce the formatting
This is a very cool feature I am trying to use, however I'm getting stuck on inserting the new measure to the button. When I try to format the "On Hover" text to display the measure the "Based on field" function won't recognize the new measure as a valid field. I'm using "SUMX" function for the measure...any tips?
Can someone explain why the code would still require the "&"? My understanding is that the empty character is creating the space between the words and numbers resulting in numbers getting close to the right edge of the card which forces the next word to start on a new line.
This video was super helpful, cheers man!! I wanted to ask, what about line breaks in a button's tooltip? For example I have an info button superposed to a table, and I want that when hovering over the info button, the tooltip shows the definition of each column's header like: Column 1: definition of column 1, which is very long. Column 2: definition of column 2, which is very short. Column 3: definition of column 3, which has medium length. I have tried many different things that work for other types of visuals but do not work for a button's tooltip!! Would you have any advice for this? I have looked through your other videos but I haven't found something that could help me on this particular issue. Thanks a lot!!
What I can do when I use filters is the number that is displayed has a different value and the whole KPI crashes and does not look aesthetically pleasing
Defintly very interesting. But in a real world scenario you gonna have to decide either to go thru so much for a bit of eye candy, or spend the time that you don’t have to meet your deadline? Your call! Nevertheless; excellent job!
@@HowtoPowerBI I've actually been down that rabbit hole since watching! :D It's such a nice, simple presentation solution that it will work well for some of my upper management reporting where leaders don't love lots of charts and graphs.
you can only use measures that are correctly set up for conditional formatting - so measures that return a certain color or number given a limited number of outcomes ( and of course they shouldn't contain an error :) )
this has to be one of the most helpful power bi channel, keep the good work.

The meticulous, talented and genius Power BI Bas, thank you for thinking and sharing these nice things with us.
AMAZING GUY AMAZING ! I used to hate PBI with all my heart but you got me reconciled with it thank you :)
What an insanely complicated work around! Awesome work but I hope they implement some of this functionality with built in options.
I hope so too! 😄 maybe they figure after watching this video
You are a gentleman and a scholar. Really helpful!
What an angel! You save my broken head!
amazing what a little extra effort can do! Thank you Bart, i'll use this in every project from now on..

great to hear!!! have fun implementing 😄

:) sounds good, im a fan of native visuals as many organizations forbid custom visuals but i will check it out!
Dude. You’re a genius.
Just what I was looking for... Thank you!
Great content! You’re videos are outstanding

Awesome trick / tip! Actually, came in handy on a request precisely on this topic - visually explain the numbers! Thanks Bas 👍👏
oh that's great to hear! haha happy I timed it well 😄😉
Oh man! This is great! Thanks.
Once again the Bas masterclass, thanks for sharing your brilliance appreciate it
thank you so much for nice words Keagan and for watching again!

Idéia fantástica, nunca tinha imaginado transformar um botão em card. Obrigado por compartilhar.
obrigada Ian!
Love this tips Thanks for sharing, mate.
thank you Danny!!! 😀
This is beyond on all levels, so stunning!!! Thank you so much, man!
so nice to hear - thx for watching again Pepe!!! 😀
Legend. Enough said.
thank you! 😀
Just wow and thank you!!!!
Your ideas are genius!
Glad you think so CrossSo! thanks :)
Absolutely awesome 👍👍👍👍
How would PowerBI interpret the newline character "
" in a string?
thanx you are doing really great job!!!GBU
This channel is so useful, I will be sleeping here ❤️
Hahahah made my day Ben! Are you still here?! ;)
Hello! Where did you incorporate the KPI_NumberSpacesRight? Was it cut off on the video? Thanks!
Hi Joel, maybe easiest to download the file (see link in the description)
@@HowtoPowerBI cool thanks!

Hello, please can you give us the link for the website to have that blank space? Thanks
emptycharacter.com
have they made the update yet???
Great video!

I have too much time so ended up with this eye candy video 😂
Very cool! Hoping I can find a use for this one.
thx Adam!! 😅 now you have to check all your pbi reports to see if there is a card visual you can apply it to haha 😂😁

Strangely enough I don't have options to use metrics in conditional formatting, only columns. How to change it?

Amazing Bas. Thank you so much
😊😀thx Pedro
15:55- end result
Amazing!
Tooltip page ?
Great video Bas! Love your attention to detail 👍
Brilliant !!!
Thanks Sedat!
what is the website to copy the space symbols
emptycharacter.com/
I use UNICHAR(10) to separate lines in card visual
👍
Can this not be done in the tooltip??
would be an alternative, different ux though as the tooltip doesn't exactly overlap
How to make spacing on rows in the matrix?
not sure what you mean / what effect you are going for - you already tried line breaks / spaces ?
nice!
Excellent, thank you
thank you for watching!!! 😀
Amazing content. Another way where you are again filling the gap that Microsoft have left in their tools.
emptycharacter is not working anymore after the latest update to Power BI
Thanks!
Thank you so much Fernando for supporting the channel! I really appreciate it a lot!! 😊😀
Amazing!🙃
Thanks! 😄
I am curious, are you Dutch?
I know this is pretty nice solution, but wouldn't it be easier to create a tooltip page with a table?
Definitely easier haha - ux is a bit different though .. u have to check for yourself if its worth it
I love the idea and ingenuity in this but why not just create a custom tooltip. But I love the idea it's genius.
tooltip is also ok, ux is just a bit different
interesting idea, but i don't think it's easier or better than making a custom tooltip.
aaah u never know, maybe it will still come in handy some day 😉 .. did for me
when this just be something it can do? lol i feel like so many of your videos involves this space char
👍💥👍💥
Thanks!
thank YOU for your support, Alexis! :)
