  • When Lou retired from the Jordan Card World in 2012 he was the unequivocal king of Michael Jordan cards. This is a glimpse of what that collection looked like, how he got there and where it all went.
    Lou Costabile's web page with scans of his entire collection: justmj23.com/

    All of the slabbed cards I personally own that you see in these videos are in my Fanatics Collect Vault in Tigard, Oregon. I choose to store these cards in my vault to lower costs, insure them, protect them and eliminate the concern of damage resulting from fire, flood, humidity, theft or Cajun Alligator attacks down here in Louisiana. I do not hold any of my Graded Cards in my personal possession or in my home.

      Amazing stuff. 10 min in and already laughing out loud over Lou not wanting to give credit to his budding eBay nemesis a decade+ later 😂

    These interviews with super collectors are really awesome. It be great to see some of people who collect other than Jordan and their mindset. Thanks for your content!

    Jim at shoebox is still there in Elgin IL. Just went in there yesterday. He’s the best around. Great video Cajun. Should definitely have Lou on again.

    Interesting hearing the lull in Jordan collecting in 2002 Wizards era. I unintentionally collected Kobe heavily in his lull era, yet it turned out to be maybe the single best investment of my life. Very lucky timing

    The other big drawback with ripping wax (vs buying the single) is, even if you HIT the card you were looking for, there’s no guarantee on condition. The centering could be off, a corner could be bent, whatever. But in general, I don’t think people who only collect 1 player typically rip wax. Wax is for “chasers” who get dopamine hits from playing the lottery (for ANY big card; not always a specific player they’re hunting).

    I would argue who is founding father of MJ cards... in the 1980's, Dr PSA collected psa 10's of every MJ 1980's fleer card and stickers. and All Star cards... he was eye doctor and used some of his equipment to figure out how good surface was to get the best psa 10's... not to downplay Lou Costabile.. but founding father of MJ cards... I would vote that Dr PSA was.

    • @cajuncardboard
      @cajuncardboard  10 часов назад

      Well there’s only 8 fleer jordan cards/stickers combined for the 1980s so 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@cajuncardboard founder is=1st, not the biggest or most valuable. Dr PSA went hard after all 1980's Fleer stickers and base cards all in psa 10. this is like GOAT debate, MJ, Lebron, Kareem.... having the best MJ collection in 1992 or 1993 once PSA began to grade cards and issue psa 10...I would say, if i were to do my math correctly, 10 years before 2003? just saying, Founding Father means 1st. PSA had monthly magazine hard copy way back then and featured Dr PSA psa 10 MJ collection in the 1990's... as it was the best MJ card collection in the world at the time... fyi

    the talk about them being not so good at the end and a lull is correct for almost all players.. i think that is where brady makes him the special one.. he won a superbowl in his 2nd to last year.. and he beat the upcoming superstar mahomes.. so brady broke that rule which makes him specialj to me and I think ALOT of collectors...

      Great observation Lee. Brady is unique indeed. MJ would have been even more glamorous if his game 6 Jazz shot was the last of his career.
