    Very good video, though I was surprised the “cheap” antenna did as well as it did. Looking at my Nagoya NA-24J antenna, it read 20W for its power output, while the fake ones I've seen say 10W. Taking SWR readings with Surecom meters can be off by wide margins since there's no way to establish a ground plane, even with steel ground plane shields (which are no longer being offered with Surecom meters due to cost and because they don't really work). Still, I would love to see you test some cheap no name antennas next to your Nagoya. Oh, and I highly recommend the Retevis RHD-771. It's a higher guage antenna that has worked out very well for me. Cheers.

      half of this youtube is total nonsense and Nagoya itself has had to issue a list of official distributors. The packaging you see as claimed "genuine this is ONE distributor putting the antenna it in their own packaging. the packaging listed as "fake" here is actually the packaging the Nagoya comes in from the factory. This is the same nonsense the Btech aka Baofengtech (which is not hte official baofeng company by one of scores of distributors) did making their own packaging for Baofengs it is selling and then claiming other packaging is "fake."

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  2 года назад +1

      It doesn't matter, because both antennas were tested at the same conditions and both SWR meter and antenna analyzer show pretty similar results. I agree that it's not a scientific or super accurate test but the point was to compare those two antennas and find out if they perform differently. And this test clearly shows the difference in their performance.

    You cannot do a meaningfull SWR TEST USING small meter and handheld radio as the antenna under test is really half of a diople, the other half consisting of your meter, radio, and your body holfong thr radio. As you show, with the radio laynig an the bench, SWR will be affected by any metalwork supporting the bench.

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  23 дня назад

      Here's the corrected text:
      I know that, but if you're doing the same test in the same environment and the only thing that changes is the antenna, then you can get an idea about the antenna's performance. Also, those antennas were checked on a more advanced device (you can see the results on the graphs), and the results are about the same. The main idea wasn't to determine the actual SWR but to see if the fake antenna performs the same as or worse than the original one.

      Exactly. The Btech packaging is Btechs (and Btech/Baofengtech is NOT the Baofeng company) own packaging, and the upper packaging claimed to be "fake" packaging in this video is actually what comes from Nagoya factory. The claim that only those antenna marked "Btech" or "Baofengtech" are legit is the same nonsense claim that only Btech aka Baofengtech are the only legit Baofeng radios. BTech has gotten into trouble calling other US distributors/sellers UV-5rs "fake" even claiming that UV-5r was "discontinued." The actual Baofeng company had to issue statements on its website stating BTechs claim was false. Looks like they are now pulling same nonsense with nagoya antennas, and Nagoya has had to counterr Btechs claims, and Nagoya has noted Btech is NOT the only authorized US nagoya seller. Reminds me of the Btech claim that brown Baofeng box meant it was "fake" when Baofeng factory itself puts them in brown boxes.
      Bteck/Baofeng tech is one of MANY official Nagoya distributors.
      Do we think the other distributors are putting the name of a competing distributor on their packaging???

    Hi. I'm going to receive a genuine Nagoya NA-701 HT SMA male Antenna, but as far as I saw in other reviews, ALL these are just CRAPWARE. It's crazy how the factories don't perform the MINIMAL NECESSARY SWR tests, and they release sticks that are somewhat resonant at 150 - 160 MHz (VHF), and 440 - 450 MHz (UHF). The ridiculous fact is the justification that the factory provideswhen you contact 'em, saying that "a counterpoise wire is needed" !!!!! Counterpoise on an HandHeld radio ?!?!? The same shit happens with DIAMOND SRH 36, SRH519, SRH 701, SRH 771... There is NOT A SINGLE AERIAL resonating at 144 or 432 MHz at all !!!. I have two old COMET SH/85 (BNC) and a SMA-3 (SMS male) PERFECTLY WORKIN' at 144 and 432 MHz !. It appears IMHO that THE ONLY DECENT antennas are the ones produced by COMET (NGC now). I will see the NA 701 that comes from Spain, as here in Italy, Diamond is easy to find genuine, but Nagoyas are ALL FAKE. Hope my two cents are helpful. I measure through a base for mobile antenna with a large metal base, and the right measurements are successful with Comet SB5, SH95 (mobile antennas), and COMET SH85, SMA3, CH701X. All these sticks are PERFECTLY centered and show 1:1 to 1:1,5 SWR at VHF and UHF HAM frequencies ! 73.
