    Ok, I get that the main point of the video was showing how ZZZ had more depth to the combat and potential for flair than people were making it out to be, but saying there's no flair to Wuthering Waves is such a weird take. As Iyo said about ZZZ there's some basic rules to how to use a character and you want to figure out how the people you've combined work together, but there's still room for doing your own thing, and that applies to WuWa, as well. Sure, you could mash, and sure you have the basic things each kit is trying to do, but there's still plenty of space to find how you want to play them. That's not to say either of them have better combat than the other, I just thought the take that WuWa had no room for flair, where ZZZ did a very strange thing to say.

      WuWa making the enemies/bosses dynamic aswell, not just our characters combat.
      That's what separate it.

    I just don’t understand why Iyo is so intent on making ZZZ to be a fighting game. I grew up playing Tekken since Tekken 5, still keeping up today with 8. I love fighting games since it REQUIRES you to know and practice your combos or techs, otherwise you will never succeed. I watched Iyos ZZZ “tech” guide and was excited to implement it but ZZZ just does not give me that fighting-game drive to improve since it feels so easy early game. I’ll keep up with the game for now but I hope that it forces you to play differently later.

    try shock team without grace, instead with anby (anby, anton, rina)
    anby 4basic + 1charge (the charge atk will be electro dmg with the biggest impact) -> the shock buildup maybe a little bit slow but slash char having more impact to break enemies toughness bar
    then you can swap quickly to anton to do his mini ult
    if that anton ult trigger the qte again, swap to rina and then do her skill, swap back to anby, and trigger anton again
    infinite electro dmg
    that's depth, not understanding the basic kit being called depth. and saying wuwa has no flair is crazy. in wuwa they never handhold you when to swap in any shape or form, that's more freedom in my eyes. and in fact, alot of fighting games are having jump button, but zzz doesnt. that's less freedom in my eyes

    How the hell can you draw a comparison between both genres, one of which is limited to an attack button, a special button and an ultimate button, being only PVE and not even having a jump button with the complexity of fighting games since SF2, if you compared it to beat'em up, like final fight, street of rage and others, there wouldn't be so much discrepancy in the argument, either you are too naive not to see that the approach between the two companies is purely marketing or you are dishonest

      he said in one of the comments is that he simply compared it to fighting games because he heard that zzz is inspired to a fighting game. that's still a dumb take tho since an arpg or a beat em up should be a better game to compare it to zzz. the complexity of fighting games are being dumbed down by comparing it to this game where combo starters are dependent on whether your enemy is being counter hit, or crouched, or doing a sweep to down them and start a combo. zzz combat is just having a different "complex" moveset besides button mashing that does just about the same damage as the latter. even if you have somewhat a freedom of choice in combat, its all about whether trying to force complexity into your game would make a game fun or not. trying to force a narrative that zzz combat is complex is just massive cope.

      Yeah his narrative is so out there. This is an action hack and slash game. It is already its own genre. And ZZZ isnt even the deepest action game ever made. Iyo is just in too deep to back out of the hole he dug.

    Intro/outro has been a thing since Punishing Gray Raven. Depth? You want depth? Man I wonder what this man as well hex would say if they really got into that game. You can just mash buttons or you'll lose so much dps and time that it starts drastically affecting your score. Bro i just tried out S rank Hanying and I don't understand a damn thing about how to use her. It's getting more and more complex with every new omn that comes out.
    Knowing hoyo, they'll never go that deep

    Lmao Iyo has been capping so hard lately with ZZZ. I wonder when him and several CC's got that juicy sponsorhip/contract from hoyo for ZZZ.
    When one say fighting games a staple mechanic since time immemorial are juggles and air combos, which both are almost non existent in ZZZ, I'd hardly call hitting floating enemies in ZZZ as an air combo lmao.
    w/o those two basic fighting game stuff prevalent in ZZZ, I'd be hardpressed to call and force the narrative that ZZZ is a fighting game lmao

    Mr Pokke, free to play legend extraordinaire, plays this game blindfolded, no rotations, so you really can just mash buttons because it’s an EZ PZ game. Once we are at endgame, I’m sure F2P god Pokke will mash his way to victory and save us all from the gatekeepers of “how to have fun” and combo elitists who cry saying, “surely the endgame won’t be button mashable!” But they sit on a throne of lies, and cope thinking this game will become lies of p hard. Hard p p. There is depth to the combat, but the combat encounters are as shallow as the baby pool in my neighbors backyard. Spreadsheeting this game is like trying to find the meta in battle for bikini bottom; it’s unnecessary, unwarranted and futile.

      Wtf is this take? Plenty of blindfolded speedruns are done, doesn't mean the games are piss easy, but the combat is still better than any soulsborne simply because I don't have to wait my turn.
      Monster Hunter is a good slow combat, not souls.

    They'll say "It's good that hoyo took it slow:" and literally in the same breath say how ass it is at taking it slow to teach you the game. Like people don't mind a slow approach but we don't need enemies that need to get permission from a hoyo dev before attacking us at the beginning.
    And these mechanics aren't deep and if they are gonna lock basic mechanics like actual aircombos behind characters. Is that really a mechanic of the game? Or are we gonna wait until Kuro makes another instance based game and adds a jump button for combos. and then be like Zenless could never all over again?

      Later enemies are fun. The game holds your hand way too long imo. There is a lot of fun to be had at endgame though.

      @@chinkyflahz you cant comment without having played the game. get to level 30~35 and youll notice how enemies and certain stages get very challenging. being careful to not get hit, practicing when to dodge etc become common practices

      They’re more so trying to get across that it isn’t skin deep, rather that since the game doesn’t require this type of gameplay, it leads many to believe the game has no depth. The problem is that this isn’t required at all.

    even the combo feels so unsatisfying and boring...i think i rather spam left click until my finger break still when the difference is VERY VERY miniscule for the effort in comparison vs left click on a temendous big health pool sand bag npc. A great game doesnt define when an unstaisfying has a extra 100 buttons that probably feels better if you force yourself to, it should make you WANT to do it. That said, im only 10 hours into the game, maybe it gets better like other people said after 20-30 hours..=_=.
    Also this is not a hate post, i do enjoy 30-40% of what ZZZ has to offer, it has some things that is mid atleast.
    . im glad the people that LIKES ZZZ as a fighting games because of this are enjoying it tho regardless.

    Hex is cool but Id rather read or figure out the combat descriptions in-game myself than listen to a guy gasping at straws making ZZZ combat looks more deep than it is. The only deep in ZZZ is its shloong on that guys throat 🤣

    Good on you hex for taking the time to br tought how to play zzz and learning that it isnt just button mashing. Hopefully more people will understand that.
    It infuriates me to see a game get so many negative comments and reviews becuase they simply dont try to play the game correctly.
    This goes for the story too imo. Its a really good story but (i know its hard for yall) you need to read!!! Read the dialogue. Dont just skip becuase theres no audio or cutscene. And maybe youll find that the story is actuslly pretty detailed and lovable.

    there's depth, for sure but as with every hoyo game, there's no real combat difficulty that really forces you to go in depth. you can literally just get by with button mashing.

    The problem is the characters you’re given in the beginning ARE for the most part spam-x characters (sure they have intricacies but the game gives you no reason to learn them early on).
    Giving people a selector early on would give people access to more *fun* characters without forcing them to pull and get lucky for what they want to play…
    It’s like 10-20ish hours before the monsters *start moving* 🤪 and you actually start getting to *play* your 5 stars… it’s like hoyo did their best to intentionally make the game torture to induce some Stockholm syndrome effect where they force themselves to like it before pulling something ACTUALLY fun...
    But who knows, maybe this was actually intentional and they know what they’re doing on a psychological level better than the players themselves 😅

    does the switch controller work on here or should i just buy a new one cause my controller is from amazon and it SAYS it works for pc but doesnt pick up as a pc one it picks up as a switch controller? should that matter tho 😭

    I feel like people don't understand that the reason why they wanted to take this slower approach to introducing people into the game and the mechanics is simply so that they wouldn't be overwhelmed by it. I can agree that this approach is slower than most people would like and I can understand the critiques to that. But I also think it's better than being overwhelmed with a bunch of information, which I think this video goes over why it would be too much for people, but that's just me

      But didn't devs telling the players this is a combat focused game? I think the ppl wants to play this game are looking for combat, and the fact is it's not EVEN close to overwhelming, and in this game you don't NEED to learn these mechs to beat any bosses but just makes u feel better with combat. If u think they are taking it slower to not letting ppl getting overwhelmed, then I think they did a horrible job.

    I thought this video was quite informative and a pretty good guide/demonstration at how ZZZ combat has more depth to it than it seems on the surface and by learning these tricks you can make combat even more fun......I have 0 clue why most of these comments are so unbelievably negative and toxic......guess it really is true that the gatcha community is toxic af and always negative.....

    Cool seeing Hex play this way. Do think in the future they should add in some Advanced training to better understand the characters/juggles. We do not have to do them, but if given the option to learn, think it would intrigue more players to try playing this way instead of mashing, and possibly give them some more fun out of it

    ZZZ story is dogshit while WuWa is Way more better because of its chinese inspired storytelling is emmersive, WuWa has jump button better arial combo and Unlimited juggle ZZZ can't even compete, WuWa has more Appealing character designs while ZZZ is pure plain Character and too many English Names much WuWa has better naming sense in character like Jinshi , Calcharo and Yinlin , ZZZ

      i think its just due to the potential and depth the game already has atm, and what that may mean for the future
      itd be cool to see what zzz looks like a few months from now to see if the difficulty improves
      hoyo wanted to take zzz slow with the difficulty so that people would get used to it, so i think that seemed fair

      @@yuorion3056 I totally will take that with a huge grain of salt Hoyo caters to casuals take the bosses and mobs and just focus on combat and gameplay mechanics. It's one of the easiest combat styles in the entirety of the gacha genre.

    12:31 This 100%, imo the game should be pushing this from the start with better tutorials and scenarios where it'd be clearly beneficial to do more than mash, then on hard mode it should be punishing players for mashing.
    Most people are going to gravitate toward whatever method is the lowest effort, if there's no need to use extra mechanics they may as well not exist. As a result the game becomes boring.

    I really underestimated ZZZ in every regard possible. At first it looked boring, but now I love how chill it is. I love love love how cosy Sixth Street is. I love, that I can do the same, quick rotation to get my dailies done, and then just have fun with whatever mode I feel like. And now, that I am realising the depth of the combat, I am really excited about it.
    Just give me Ellen already FFS.

    All this "cool tech" being explained and all that I hear is analogous to "jump cancel to play Hu Tao the right way". Like why would you need to juggle trash mobs when one heavy attack or skill from Anby crushes their toughness meter or whatever it's called, launching a quick assist combo? Timing Soldier 11 normals - sure, but it's her basic package that is explained in her tutorial. This guy treats this game like a PvP fighting game. Okay there may be more optimal ways to gain ultimate energy or skill meter, but so do other similar games. The game doesn't have any sort of game mode where advanced tech would be needed. You can't juggle elites or bosses. You don't need to learn all this to increase your DPS. Just level your characters. It's an action RPG, not a fighting game.

    Great video from both of you. TLDR, elitism in modern day gaming is cringe and also criticizing ZZZ for the same things we praise other titles is mad disingenuous disregarding what the devs migh have or have not said.
    At this point i'am kinda fed up with the elitist mentality of: ''this game has to be hard or it's ass by default'' just cause it has combat in it. reminder that the modern dmc games have some of best (if not the best) combat in gaming history in terms of what u can do and how it looks on top of having some of the highest mechanical execution sealing pretty much ever...yet most people only play the story mode once and barely unlock half the moves in the shop (nothing wrong with it to be clear, it's jus a fact) and u bet ur butt they don't play on any high-end difficulty like Dante must die or above and u know full well that dmc enemies are not that difficult for the most part and are more designed for the spectacle or for u to style (u also can't juggle most if not all bosses in dmc as well so that counter argument is respectfully ass).
    Yet, i don't see people shitting on DMC 5 for being easy in story (which is what most people's experience in DMC is limited to) or claiming it has no depth cause they just had fun grappling people with nero and break-dancing with dante.
    Why is it different here? sounds disingenuous to me.
    no, the argument that it's a gacha no longer applies cause these new gacha game have AAA-quality budgets and AAA-quality elements across different aspects including combat ofc so it is valid to compare it to even a AAA title like DMC or bayoneta.
    and tbh i don't care what u think the devs said or what not...i care what they actually MADE and put in the game and what they could potentially do in the future...and from what they did in ZZZ regardless of what they said, the combat clearly has inspiration drawn from fighting games (which they unironically said but who's counting)...the same way HSR is clearly inspired from the fate series. That don't mean HSR is the new fate or ZZZ is street fighter 6.5...it does however mean that u can deep dive in the lore of HSR and almost never get bored while investing in an expansive story and a massive character roster like u would in fate. in the same manner, u can deep dive in ZZZ and find FG mechanics that could enhance ur fun if u want to try it out...just as u would in fighting game IF u wanted to. Which is the whole argument that iyo is driving home and that hex is clearly proving right in this video. just cause u CAN mash to a certain lvl in the game dont mean u HAVE to nor does it mean u should but it also doesn't u should mean be blamed if u did mash ur way though as long as you've had fun doing so. play how u want.

    I just tell people to play the DMC gacha, then they give up because everything around is complete ass lol, if people actually were looking for some deep combat in gacha everyone would be playing action taimanin since every character there had like 5 or 6 skills if I remember correctly, more buttons means more skill right?
    Also after soukaku plants the flag you can get get 1 attack and them switch, she will do her spinning attack for it's full duration while the character that just entered is also attacking and doing their full combo.

    The most satisfying air juggling combos i experienced is windwalker air pouncing in dragon nest.
    Me playing in pvp there and doing that to the enemy while their aerial evasion in cd, it looks so insulting lmao

    Hoping for soldier 11 mechanics to be discovered. After getting the timing down feels like there's nothing left to be discovered in her kit, will be glad if someone can prove me wrong I do enjoy her character but how is there more depth to Anby and Nicole who are A-ranks compared to an S-rank

      Thing is you don't even need to do the proper timing strats on Soldier 11 cause you can trigger her basic attacks to deal fire damage without it.

I have S11 as a main DPS on my mono fire team and her mechanics is giving me a hard time.

    Man. Everytime I hear the argument around "why should I learn about the depth if I can get by just by mashing" its just so braindead it hurts my psyche. Anyone with this mentality needs to understand one thing. You will NEVER EVER feel the need to learn about the complexity of any given game if it is single player. Never. It will always be self motivated. You want to know why? Because single player games are made to be beat. And they are made to be beat using a surface level understanding of the mechanics. Take any complex combat game like, DevilMayCry, Nier, Bayonetta, Metalgear Revangeance. All of these game have combat systems that CAN go further and allow you, the player, to get creative. Some try to push the player more than others (the style system in DMC). But you can beat all of these games by essentially mashing or having a basic understanding of the game and just using the cookie cutter combos. Same thing with fighters. Take ANY fighting game, and play only solo vs the AI. You will never feel the need to learn the optimized combos. Learn the proper punish. Learn any of the deeper mechanics. The single factor that does create this sense of push where players HAVE to learn the deeper mechanics is when PvP is involved. All fighters are like this. All competitive games, such as league of legends as well. So stop saying that "the game doesnt push me to learn the techs, why should I", you sound dumb. No matter how hard ZZZ could potentially be, you would never learn it unless you WANT to.

It's that even if you personally only swim at the surface level, the system still allows you to dive deep in if you wanted to.       @chinkyflahz are you familiar with super smash bros? In that game there's characters like Mario that can very simple to play and straightforward in their kit. And as a casual, you can play SSB and think the game is very simple at a glance. But if you engage with the game mechanics you'll find alot of depth to the system, which every single character can use in unique ways depending on how they individually work. Same thing applies with this game. But like I said, since this is single player you might not feel "pushed" to get into the details vs SSB that requires you to if you want any chance at winning vs a human player.
      By the way Soldier 11 really isn't that complex at all, they're quite straightforward. The only thing is there's a timing based thing which is interesting but alot of characters have alot more of micromanagement of buffs or attack chains they want to perform. Anton is definitely even simpler tho lol. But yeah, regardless what I mean is that even if one character is simple by themselves, it's piloting the team as a whole and managing the swaps and various team specific optimizations that make it interesting. It's the mechanics that apply to the system as a whole, to all characters, even if some character do have more intricate kits than others such as Ellen.

      Its basically the same as genshin, unless they start adding enemies where they react you won't find yourself needing these things which is still the complaints of many
      Also in most cases if you over level most mobs they die before you get to use these complex moves however in essence
      Its Fun the end

      @@mistro504 It still isn't necessary. All you really need to know is your rotations and to have your team equipped properly. Combos don't tilt the numbers in any meaningful way and are purely there for style rather than practicality
