In hindsight I feel you would have been better served exploring South after claiming the rampart town as opposed to your eastward expansion challenging purple. Also I know dendroids slow you down but they are an unstoppable early force as they are cheap to aquire you can boost their growth and you had mass haste for battle scenarios. Dendendroids golems and grand Elves would be a serious early game force. Add nagas and you are unstoppable.
There's the easiest way to tell if a unit is upgraded or not by the side he's facing

Has the copyright problem been solved yet? Haven’t heard anyone mentioning it since that video with the pinned comment
Sort of. I think most big channels have applied to be whitelisted via the copyright claimant's website and been approved (myself included). Ultimately though, it remains a grey area and not one I'm comfortable with, so I'm still planning to go ahead with using a custom soundtrack.

This ended up much harder than it needed to be simply because you gave your opponents too much time to develop. If you ended purple sooner, you would’ve already won. Still I’m curious to see how you’ll pull yourself out of a hole like this
Yeah, that's true. There were several mishaps in parts 1 & 2 which slowed my progress and prevented me from snowballing. I don't necessarily mind though - several of my HoMM3 playthroughs have turned into me steamrolling the AI and this is at least a bit less predictable.
