I always tried chasing the silver and gold signatures in Collector’s Choice when I was a kid in the 90’s - Great cards! You mentioned the Fleer Tradition Starting 9 set - I feel like few people are aware of that set. Such tough cards to get - I made a run at a Carlos Baerga that came up a few months ago on eBay, but fell short. I do have Pudge’s highest graded copy in a PSA 8. Great Maddux pickup - beauty! 👍🏻
Yeah, those starting 9 parallels are kind of insane. Theres something about an ultra-rare parallel that’s not too flashy and is put into a low end retail product where who knows how many kids wipe their snot-coated fingers all over them… it kinda sounds like Pacific now that I think about it! 😂 Similar to the Circa Raves and the Pacific retail reds, many of those starting 9s are Ghosts. For now, I’m happy with my warning track collection!
That’s always a big consideration for me when deciding what to pick up. The nostalgia angle is such a powerful one. I tend to bypass “nicer” or “more premium” cards in favor of ones that jog core memories for me. I’m not really looking to make my Griffey PC much bigger, but Griffey always had a special place in the hobby in the 90s. He was THE GUY. Thanks for watching, The Drew!
@ The phrase “it’s about having the card, not the grade” is one that I spoke aloud during this video, but I’ve heard LOTs of vintage (and especially prewar) collectors say this too. We’re really not so different as some may think!

Man, I love finding 90s gems at a show! It really feels like work because of how few tables carry 90s baseball fire! 🔥 at the same time, it’s pretty quick to walk by the ultra modern and vintage tables, so I almost never need a second day at shows! Thanks for watching, Brent!
