- The Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway was the very first Railway which connected the two Cities in Scotland and opened in 1842 and also features as the ScotRail Express in Train Sim World 4.
This video is looking at all 10 stations between Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen Street as I travel along the fastest route between the two Cities as well.
Featuring many ScotRail trains from the old Class 43 HSTs, Class 158, Class 170, Class 334 and the Modern Class 385 EMUs as we take a look at the first five station along this route between Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge of this route Simon, much appreciated.
Looking forward to Part Two.
Excellent video Cyber 👍
Incredible to think that the Edinburgh to Glasgow services were once worked by class 27s in push pull formation
Thanks Thornaby37. They were top and tailed with a loco on each end and then the Class 47/7s came in with the DBSOs before it went to units.
Also I owe you a apology as I was checking the block list on this channel on Thursday and noticed your name there.... no idea how that happened but as soon as I saw it I unblocked.
@@Sim0nTrains no worries Cyber
The Class 170 Turbostar days were the best in my opinion. Loved that DMU!
Great video Simon
Brilliant video Cyber, the stations along this route do look quite nice. :)
The ScotRail Class 385 which were built by Hitachi are such incredible electric trains. As Hitachi have built those trains they could have carried on building more of them to replace the Class 318 and Class 320 EMUs used on the Strathclyde suburban services in and around Glasgow.
Gosh I wish! However, given all the signalling and other infrastructure upgrades that have been happening since re-nationalisation, maybe once some of those are finished we'll start getting new trains again..!
True. Couldn’t agree more 😊
An excellent part 1 of the fastest line between Edinburgh and Glasgow! I do enjoy this line alot with a fair amount of trains 👍
im loving all the stations along this route & im liking the selection of ScotRaill trains like the HSTs & the 385s brilliant vlog & im looking forward to the rest of this route to Glasgow
Great video, Simon! Someone gave me a book on the 150th anniversary of the E&G in 1992 that my local library published. It's interesting that back then 158s were the main class of train on the line and the book says that this was the first line in Britain where 158s were used (on 17th September 1990 when 158708, 158709 and 158711 formed the 0700 Edinburgh to Glasgow service)
another top video Simon..really like travelling in Scotland visiting the stations and ticking them off the list was up there this May on that route and got as far as Polmont..the next part ive yet to do so will see whats ahead for me
Nice video, Simon. Those 385s sound like tube trains as they get going!
Good old Haymarket to Glasgow run!
Many a girlfriend have visited me that way :)
Looks like a nice line to ride on! Those 385's look like they're nice trains though.
Nice video, but note there are 3 stations in Falkirk, High, Grahamston and Camelon!
Thank you and and is 100% true. Did forget about Camelon as it was named Falkirk (Camelon) in 1903 before it closed in 1967 before it reopened as Camelon in 1994
There is two the other one goals to Chester Asda
Great video Simon! What do you use to edit your videos?
