Definitely save Napoleonic for last (being British it's probably the one he'd come into it knowing the most of.) Plus I swear they must have got some big sponsors in between Prohibition and it; as the production value is noticably improved.
Agreed with one stipulation; do the French Revolution first (Napoleon's got a way bigger budget and it'd be like watching a movie in SD on a 92" 4K screen after already having seen the better one.)
One of the most bad ass US marine quotes happened during world war 1. When the Americans showed up in France the French were retreating. They told the Americans to retreat with them the Germans main army was coming. The the marines said” retreat hell we just got here”
You have to react to a new song by Sabaton! It is called "Christmas Truce" I find it fitting since it is about WW1.. Also, since a lot of people also say it...Do also Napoleonic Wars before pausing with Oversimplified! Keep Up the Good Videossssssssss!
Serbia's retreat throw Albania wasn't really that easy as it might have sounded. It was actually a horrible walk through Albanian snowy mountains where many soldiers and civililians died eather from cold or starvation. I would suggest looking into that. There's plenty more to this and Serbia's involvement in WW1.
If you want a documentary with a bit more detail I'd recommend Epic History TVs ww1 documentary. Covers the other fronts in more detail than Oversimplified.
WW1 is so interesting because it’s obviously not like a modern war where we have footage and information, but it was when information started spreading quicker and to here the stories that were word of mouth not taped are always cool
Hardcore History does an amazing job detailing why the war happened and while you can't justify the actions of the participants you can at least understand it and realize it was much more life and death before it even started
if you want a much more in depth look at ww1 I recommend going to a channel called "the Great War" where they talk about the war week by week(each video base on one week) its obviously a long series, but they go into the war with much more greater detail. ww1 is also my most favorite subject in history.
2:20- when you get to WW2 part 1 they get into that, more specifically why Italy swapped, however Japan's swap was pretty much all on the US before it started (also covered.)
@7:28 Hey Luke, T.E. Lawrence is a fascinating but tragic figure in British History. He was actually quite the student of history at Jesus College in Oxford. He was employed as a kind of intern for the British Museum's dig at Carcemish (Modern Syria/ Turkish border). There, he immersed himself in several subjects, and met several notable archaeologists such as Flinders Petrie, Gertrude Bell and Leonard Woolley (all who would eventually be employed by British intelligence to spy on the German led Baghdad Railway). There is a ton of information regarding his time with the Arab Revolt, but because of his involvement in spying, fluency in arabic and immersion in Middle Eastern Culture he was the perfect candidate for such a guerrilla war. After the war he was involved in several of the conferences that determined the fate of the middle east by being advisor to Winston Churchill, who rand the Colonial Office at this time (i.e. Paris Peace Conference, Cairo Conference, etc). Although he certainly knew about the planned Sykes-Picot Agreement and other colonial projects, he quite incensed by how he felt the Entente betrayed the Arabs. He went so far as denying a knighthood from King George V himself. He was a bit of a daredevil (being a sado-macochist, pilot, and motorcycle enthusiast), though he eventually died from a motorcycle accident in Dorset in 1935, aged 46. There's a great book called "Revolt in the Desert" by him if you're interested, and the movie is a certified classic. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Hope you see this and have a great day! If you want a more detailed look into battles or specific timelines, you should check out the operations room. They do a really great job and I know you will learn a lot from them
I have been drooling for it as well. I hope the intro includes the Korean Conflict too (grandfather served; and I would love to see like something he'd randomly mentioned in an old war story growing up. Although as I type it out I realize he had a pretty dirty sense of humor; so maybe staying vague would be best for them.)
They missed that Sinn Fein threw in with Germany and led a rebellion in Dublin. It was the first battle outside the German front where a tank was used. It's driver got sniped and it just sat in the road outside the post office for 3 days.
4:50 WW1 was about the Austrians getting reasonably angry at Serbia for killing Franz Ferdinand (who I think was actually the closest thing that would have helped the minorities in the empire at the time, so kinda shot themselves in the foot there) while WW2 was about revenge against the allies in WW1, which led to wanting more land
There are some things slightly wrong with these two oversimplified videos of WW1. 1. first of all Germany didn’t want more stuff from other countries before WW1 (at least not Bismarck), that is more likely ally propaganda because the British despised Wilhelm II. 2. Alsace Lorraine (Elsaß-Lothringen) never belonged to France in the first place, it was German for over a thousand years (all the place and cities names are German, the architecture is German), there was literally no reason for France to „get it back“. 3. 4:11 Germany warned the British and Americans that they should not go into this area of the northern sea because it was a war zone. Also a few years ago scientist found a lot of weapons on the seabed at the place where the Lusitania sunk, the allies did try to smuggle weapons on the ship, so the attack by the Germans was definitely reasonable, especially when we consider the fact that the US was still „officially“ neutral to that time. 4. 6:52 „the country split into two“ no Greece got invaded by Britain. 5. Not really a fact but Britain should be the last country to tell other European countries that they „shouldn’t invade“ neutral countries. That’s exactly what Britain was doing for decades. They colonized and invaded countries around the world to profit from the resources they got there. 3:22 Turkey still doesn’t recognize this genocide.
Yea the rules of world war 1 was a sub could not fire on a merchant ship and they must rise above water and show the merchant ships and allow them to exit the boat on life boats then it would be sunk. Well the Germans did this and the British had guns waiting on the merchant ship. And they sunk the German submarine. After that the Germans said that all merchant ships would be dropped on sight which started the Americans being mad. Also they say that the British knew that the sinking of the American ship would happen and didn’t warn the Americans that it happened. So when the American ship was sunk america was pissed. It wouldn’t be till 80 years later that it is revealed that the British let the attack happen in order to get america into the war… even that sinking didn’t get america in to the war but it began to roll the ball.
Don't know if anyone has pointed this out. As someone who uses 5.1 surround sound speakers.. Your voice volume is 5 times louder than what you're watching. So.. you're kinda screaming in my room with the rest of video being a hard to hear whisper
If you want to hear more about Lawrence of Arabia, try Sabaton's song Seven Pillars of Wisdom. Additionally there is the Sabaton History episode for it, where they break down the historical events inspiring their songs.
If you haven't seen it already, there IS a film about Lawrence of Arabia called... Lawrence of Arabia. It is arguably one of the greatest films of all time, and rightfully so. It is also VERY LONG, because it basically covers just about EVERYTHING he did. *I paused the video literally one second before you went "I think they made a movie."
Japan didn’t actually go onto German side in WW2 they actually had pretty bad relations with Germany especially after the signing of Molotov Ribbentrop pact between Germany and USSR, Italy on the other hand felt betrayed by the allies as they gained little from ww1 and they too wanted to expand their empire, also 04:05 I wouldn’t call it playing dirty those rules are useless and are an example of European nations being old fashioned and thinking about being honourable over modernising tactics
Modern man is not the man who goes off to discover himself, his secrets, and his hidden truth; he is a man who tries to invest himself in something beneficial for the future.

When you come back to oversimplified after a while, do the French revolution, THEN do the Napoleonic wars, that's right order to do it.
Definitely save Napoleonic for last (being British it's probably the one he'd come into it knowing the most of.) Plus I swear they must have got some big sponsors in between Prohibition and it; as the production value is noticably improved.
Yeah, you need to watch the French Revolution to understand some jokes from the Napoleonic wars. Also, to understand why and how things happened.

The Napoleonic war is the funniest and cleverest of their all vids lol

That British force that goes north to seize Bagdad is actually a really funny story that's worth looking into.

Well...its not like England or France were lining up to kiss Japan's ass.
Putting it all on the US is a bit of a stretch.
All on the US? I'm sorry, were we supposed to make friends with brutal imperialists? LOL
There is a great docudrama called '37 Days' that shows how ww1 started. It is awesome!
World War 1 was a family feud between King George the 6th and emperor Wilhelm
