thanks for the info but I've been having to replace them every 1.5 years and the latest one lasted 6 months have you experienced this? know the cause of premature failure?
Looking to do this, but wondering how you reset the timer etc. I read that an OBD 2 device can do it, but I've also heard that not all units can. What did you use?
@@GaryOGarysGarage inside the interface, there is a timer that allows you to determine the schedule for when the car charges. You set it in the MORE menu item, then turn it on or off in the gauge display when the key is still in as you turn the car off. Before, I set this to charge by the schedule and only charge immediately when I actively change the setting. Now, I have to set this each time I turn the car off. You can tell it's working because the dash alternately blinks the far left and right lights, as opposed to when it's charging, which brings them on in sequence up to the current charge state.
Looked at a different way, both AAA and the dealer told me that after the battery is replaced, there is something that needs to be reset. Fiat was going to charge me $120 for this service, and AAA couldn't do it.
@@EliotHochberg not sure. Typically if you put a new battery in with any car it will reset any obd 2 codes. For example my check engine light came on on my Caravan because the thermostat got stuck open. I went to AutoZone to read the code but they wouldn't reset the code after I replaced the thermostat. So I just disconnected the battery.
@@GaryOGarysGarage but the battery was already disconnected, and both AAA and the dealer said they needed to reset it. Was kind of hoping you had more info than that, but I appreciate your response.
@@moresalad221 well...you want to get the same specs if possible at least on the overall capacity. Cranking amps don't matter. I've seen some people put lithium ion batteries to save weight and increase the life but those are really expensive. It really doesn't matter too much cause it is just running your accessories.
Thank you!! I just needed to do this for my 500e and was searching for how to do this. Great video!
Thank you...always glad to help. If you have any questions regarding the fiat 500e feel free to ask
OMG the chewing of gum is probably the most triggering thing in this video. Otherwise pretty cut and dry.

Any help for 2020 hybrid showing “aux battery service” and engine light😢
It could be several things. Probably just want to have it checked by the dealer. Should be under warranty. My 2018 is under warranty until 2025
@@GaryOGarysGarage phoned them this morning, not under warrenty from June this year, it’s a joke.
@@cammerontheasby7209 that stinks. Sorry to hear that. It was worth a try.

What timer?

when it displays 12v final warning on your display this means the 12v needs to be replaced right?
I'm not sure. I typically replace all 12v battery after 5 years.
Thank You Gary 🥳
Can't get to the bolt on the bottom! Mine's a 2015. Help
Might need a universal joint socket
@@GaryOGarysGarage that worked! And thank you for your help.
@@ColtraneAndRain glad you didn't give up! I hope you enjoy your Fiat 500e

Reset the system (2016)?
Maybe not chew gum while talking in a video, quite awful to listen to.
