just use an etho hopper clock its so simple to make and easy to extend so it takes longer for a pulse to be generated. why use 5 hoppers for day time clock or 10 hoppers for when nights are frequently skipped that doesnt make sense
Daylight sensors emit a signal stength based on the light level, so they activiate multiple times a day as the sun goes up and down. That change can be detected by an observer. Not just once when night hits. So it will still be activating even if you sleep through the night. Etho hopper clock will work, but it's bigger and therefore requires more resources
@@nolanstrebel9405you could probably run two basic etho clocks and compare them to get a signal when needed. just more precise timing than this hopper clock solution
@@nolanstrebel9405the output from the daylight sensor is being read from a repeater, so it’ll only activate twice a day, not at every signal strength change, which is intended
I agree with this. An etho clock with 5 stacks should be the go-to and the longer clock a suggestion for specific situations. Remember, with a longer clock ones collection system needs to be Mickey mouse. I've just got 8 hoppers in a line under the last water stream, they all fill up but it's all good with the quicker harvesting rotation.
Fun tip at 14:26, if you place a backwards facing waterlogged stairs on the last water source it angles the water into the cakes. You can then just close off the sides of the stairs with glass. Saves you having to redirect the water around.
the basic idea and clock work for bedrock, but u need entirely new pushers, and every block up to the horizontal water stream has to be a source block; so the ocean one would work better.. if u were dead set on making it from scratch somewhere not ocean, u need to coax your kelp up to the horizontal stream by trimming them and waiting for growth/bonemeal or premake the pool with source blocks
about the hoppers that feed dried kelp blocks to the smoker. wouldn't it be more efficient to fill the 4 of the slots with clog items so that it doesn't try to fill in rest of hopper slots unnecessarily.
I picked a random video of yours (not so random cuz this one is also really useful to me) because of your latest video, and it also happens to me, no pinned comment.
Nice simple design. I just finished making my own flying machine based auto-kelp farm. One thing I did was constrain my flying machines to be within a single chunk, so that it hopefully won't break as easily. Downside is I don't get as much kelp, but could always make more modules. As for the kelp age, there is no point in going through and replacing ones with a high age, as once they grow, and get broken, their age is reset to a new random value. So any gains in efficiency, only last for one grow/break cycle per kelp. For continued gains, you would have to manually go in and refresh them constantly.
dude the repeater keeps breaking after a while and then half of the FM is stuck in b/w the farm and the other part of the FM is at the flying machine repeater, what do I do?
I'm having this issue too, but I am putting it down to chunk loading. If you haven't already, put stasis ender pearls in all your appropriate chunks. Edit: For me, my storage system and a few other farms break after I die, because of the ender pearls. Edit 2: I'm going to redesign my "return module" to have an observer pointing down over the top and then make it impervious to colision and see if that helps. Edit 3: When you put the repeater back, make sure it's on 4 ticks. This can also break the machine or stall it. Also, when it crashes, look at the two blocks below which may not be necessary. The honey can sometimes pull 2 blocks forward. I made rebuilding it easier by swapping in some teracotta. Edit 4: I added an Obsidian block, to the left of the observer face, and one block down. I iwll report back if it breaks worse haha!
Hello, as someone that has an interest in your video I think this one triggered the algorithm somehow. My feed recommended the other “best fuel method “ video this morning, a month later. Then you post the follow up an hour later.
You know, instead of lychin to stop the water flowing back, you could use waterlogged steps instead (over the blue/packed ice). The water will flow only in one direction and it is much easier to get wooden stairs than it is lychin in a survival world. :) (PS: Yes, this does mean I have stolen this idea and added it to my super smelter) :)

Better clock design. Take two hoppers, face then towards each other. Put a comparator on the end of each of them facing away. Put a block where the comp is pointing. Then beside that block, put a dot of redstone, then a repeater connected to that redstone facing the middle. Repeat for the other end. Now put a sticky piston at the end of each repeater.
