- engine light on, service vehicle, service traction control on, service stabilitrak on. these are signs that you need to change the egr vavle. cleaning the valve with carbchoke helps temporarily sometimes. IF THE SERVICE STABILITRAK REMAINS ON OR COMES BACK, YOU'RE PROBABLY GOING TO NEED AN ALIGNMENT!! Also I'm not a mechanic and some of the tools that I said in the video are not exactly correct sorry.

Thanks a lot Anthony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just be careful that you don't bend the aluminum tube at the front of the valve...pull it out slowly. 3 bolts and it was done! You just saved me a couple hundred bucks that the Dealer would have charged me for labour! All the best my friend!

I have the same problem with my SUV (chevy equinox) and I took it the dealership where I bought it, long story short.. they was going to charge me 3oo .oo to fix the "stability track".. never saying a word about the EGR valve.. I recently found out that my EGR is bad through a friend with a special tool he uses.. anyway.. you sir are the greatest.. thank you so much for you video.. this is priceless to me. =)

all 3 of my lights came on a few weeks ago while driving across the country!! wasn't even half way through our trip and i stopped at an auto zone and they told me the same thing. I will be changing mine this weekend and ill let you know how it went.

That simple??? Wow! Repair place wants to charge $279.99 for the part and $115 labor. A new EGR Valve on rockauto.com is 50 bucks and I can do the install, thanks to this video, myself!

+Matt Sikon Well my check engine did come off but the service stabilitrack and the little skid light is still on. Wondering if I have another problem anyone else have this issue?
+Matt Sikon try disconnecting the egr valve and the battery for about ten minutes.
Oh ok I'll give that a shot. I did disconnect the battery for about 2 minutes but let me give that a shot thanks!

It was the electrical power steering fuse... I got the part from the Chevy dealer $11 and was able to fix myself

I have been having this same problem. But I don't have a check engine light just the other lights.I was just about to sell my 2008 chevy equinox and then this light came on again. The first time I had the brake master cylinder changed and it went away. Should I still install a new EGR valve on the car? Thanks
Definitely change the EGR valve. My service light would go off for a few days, but it would return a few days later. It's worth a shot. Good luck

No the cooling fans could just be the electrical connector going to the fans. I had a similar issue with this and just ended up replacing the connector and it fixed the issue.
I had to replace the head gasket because of overheating problems and my cooling fans wouldn't turn on

Did your light come back ? Just had p404 egr clogged changed it today ! Wondering if you ever had more problems ?

Hey, the stabilitrak and check engine light came on last year around this time. It went off. Now the stabilitrak light comes on after I drove about 40 something miles today and getting gas. The check engine light hasn't came on yet. Should I try cleaning it first before the light comes on?
Lashawn Jones you want to go ahead and get the EGR valve replace. It normally comes on and go off on its own so the best solution would be to replace it.

Lashawn Jones no problem. i tried cleaning my EGR valve as well, it worked for a short period and was back on the following day or so. I've changed the valve over a year and no problems so far. Good Luck!
I have the same exact problem with the check lights, but the only different thing is that my steering wheel got stiff and is very hard to turn now. Is this the same problem that you had?

When you had trouble with the EGR , were you noticing or having trouble with the brakes too?
+Tavo Galarza slightly. It would sometimes apply brakes as if the truck was driving in snow or rain.

I'm not sure on the 2006 models, but you can call your local Chevy dealer and they can give you the specs.

Hi Anthony, I found your video and I am very thankfull for it. I replaced my EGR valve today and the check engine light went away but my stabilitrack control maintenance light is still on... any ideas of what else could be going on?

Try disconnecting the battery for longer period. If that does network you might need an alignment.
+Tavo Galarza I had a friend of mine with the same issue. What seemed to fix this was getting an alignment.
The egr replacement did not work for me. When you disconnect the battery the message would go off.
I will continue lookingfor other things like chaffing wires
If you replace the valve, and your still getting the message trying changing the wires to the valve.
Anthony my service traction control light , service stabilitrak and ABS light are on not engine light do you think this could be problem with mine ?
+JILL MARTIN-ANGELOS yes this can sometimes cause the ABS to go off as well since the traction control system is also part of the braking system.
ABS is breaks. Does your car make a noise when you apply your foot to the brakes..?
I went to so many mechanics and they couldnt tell me why my traction control was coming on.

I have the same vehicle and all lights are on also. My car kinda slows down once i get to about 30 mph and stutters a bit i have to push the gas pedal down hard. it seems like my engine loses power. does that have to do with the EGR valve also?

Not yet. My ex husband is sending me one to read it myself because here in germany where i live now no one can even read my chevy. it freakin sucks so bad here having this car here. The nearest dealership and only one around here that does american cars is about an hour drive away but im worried my car might not even make it there.
My 2007 Chevy Equinox is reading Engine Hot. A/C Off n the temp guage is not working but it was working early. What does it mean??
More than likely it's the head gasket or thermostat

I changed mine and problem only went away for about a week. Stabiltrak still comes on when driving down highway, but does not come on when cleared and I only drive around town at speeds below 50 mph. Has this problem been fixed permantley for those of you who done this. Engine light still comes on randomly.
+Ted Wolk it could be the wring that could be causing issues as well Ted. Try uncoiling the wires and make sure there is no damage to the wires.

Anthony Taylor I got a code P0405 when I did my smog test in California. My smog test failed because of it. Looks like it's the ERG Valve. I was gonna replace but mine is a vertical egr. my car is also a 2005 chevy equinox. I have unsuccessfully been unable to find one. All I find online and at auto shops are horizontal egr's. I wouldnt mind using it but the connector doesnt fit the horizontal version.
see i'm dealing with this today... there is so much resistance in the wheel very hard to turn, did this happen to you too? only thing my check engine light is not on so i couldnt get anything read
No. I never experience any resistance in the wheel. It could just be your steering or the axels.
can you clean this valve like the old ones
you can but it will only be a temporary fix
