I was at a concert in Sheffield when Bruce introduced this song as one he had never put on record. Someone in the crowd shouted out " do you want a copy". We fanatics had bootleg copies for ages. .

Most artists would die to have just one song of this caliber on one of their records. Bruce has so many he has to leave some of them out! LOL 😂. The man is a genius.

For me it's not only the best song he (or any other artist) ever left off a record, it's also arguably better than the ones that made it onto Born in the USA. Beautiful song.
Was at this show in '93 with my wife to be. Been together with her for.30 years this November. Remember holding her hand during this song. A theme song for me.

I still think the "best of" album version is the best - w. his extended harmonica solo at the beginning. Might even be the best thing he ever recorded.

This great song was left off the Born in the USA album...Max Weinberg reckons it'd his favourite Springsteen song.
This was on a compilation record and always thought it was one of his coolest songs, right up there with Darkness on the edge of town, IMO.

Actually recorded in May 1982 (not the mid-80's Bruce), but whatever..........the song is a masterpiece, and it should have been put on Born In The USA. Drummer Max Weinberg actually thinks this is the best song that Bruce ever wrote and the band ever recorded.

The Kilkenny version is very good buy the version he did on Italian/Spanish is brilliant... doesn't seem to be on YT anymore. This is too up tempo with clapping... in my opinion.
