I loved the sound! I’ve been thinking to change mine as well to ULH as well, but I want to leave all back exhaust stock. Did you think you loose some power or not really? How about the gas consumption? Cheers and congrats for the car!
If tuned you can make a little power over the stock, but it’s not noticeable in my opinion. I think the only thing you might notice is the spool time is a fraction of a second longer. Gas consumption not noticeable
That's the one thing that always seemed missing, that rumble was how I got into a subaru, long ago a friend gave me a ride in his 500 whp sti and I knew I had to own a subaru one day.
Everything has been normal and Bren tuning didn't see anything off during the etune...took the car for a 1300 mile round trip and nothing out of the ordinary
Hey thank you for the support, install was not too bad, difficulty was removing old heat shields around the old manifold to get the turbo out because all the bolts rusted, tip is to use a blowtorch and heat the bolts before undoing them, that really helped get them out...other than that it's useful to have a friend with you as the whole assembly is a little heavy to take down and the bolt up. I used BrenTuning(etune)
Bro I have a 2020 subaru wrx cvt and I just install the tomei uel headers about almost 2 months ago and man the cvt sounds more amazing I have the invidia N1 catback exhaust and with the tomei UEL Headers sounds really good not bad at all. I still have the stock downpipe. So its not that very loud like yours since you have a downpipe but I mean I have the sound and its a little loud not very loud yet. But once I get the invidia catless downpipe and get a tune that should really do the trick. But other then that it still sounds amazing and with the CVT transmission. I like it specially when I'm driving it. Can't wait to get that downpipe.
Hi yes i am, And still love it but would probable recommend running an oil cooler if you are beating it/tracking the car…oil temps run hotter by around 10 deg F when really pushing her, typical before UEL i had max oil temps of around 212 deg F, now i can see 220 when WOT then temps go back to around 212
Thank you, depends what you use the car for, if you take it to the track i would not recommend this but for daily driving I think it's great as long as you tune for it
It won't damage the turbo, but you lose all of the benefits of a twin scroll turbo. The engine is unknown as these haven't been out long enough for engine reliability testing. You've just got to decide if the rumble is worth the loss of spool, torque, and power over getting an aftermarket equal length header instead.
@@jeremiahwhite4500 yes of course, always tune when going between ELH and UEL. I used BrenTuning, etune...all my performance mods are in video description
WOW sounds amazing man! I just bought these headers and almost have the same set up, I have the Invidia Catless DP with the N1 Dual catback , stage 2+, i was wondering since speakers dont do justice, is it a nice deep rumble or is it more throaty ? thanks in advance!!!
Awesome dude, I'm not sure how if it will be the same sound catless as the cat muffles some sound however my setup is an aggressive rumble, just hits the sweet spot especially going through a tunnel lol I personally enjoy the driving experience even more now and the performance is not a noticeable drop in my opinion. Not dynoed only etume so can't say for sure but it the smiles that count for me.. Best of luck to you
@@fixflickss thank you so much for the subie love ! And the quick response ! I'm going to be installing them on the 5th! I'll share for sure my opinion on them catless !!!!
Oh man you weren't wrong ! , what a sound paired with the N1 Dual titanium, I'm catless but still the rumble is insane had some issues with one of my turbo studs but got it in the end !!!! Only thing Is I tried to get the wrap as tight as I could not sure if you had issues with yours?
Happy to hear that my friend, for turbo studs and any other welded on or rusted bolts/nuts in the future I recommend using spray penetration fluid combined with a Torch to heat it up...really makes it easier. I know what you mean...The wrap was annoying, the metal zip ties are difficult to get tight, I'll post a picture on IG (@fixflicks) of how my wrap came out...BTW I am grateful you found my channel useful to you, trying to grow this channel, more subie videos coming. Enjoy your UELH's
That is true, before the UEL headers I already had the Catted Jpipe and Invidia N1 catback and the sound was already pretty loud however with the UEL addition it definitely kicks it up a notch. From super loud catless and muffler delete exhausts which I would give 10/10 for really loud my setup is a deep clean rumble with I would say a 6/10 for loudness. Planning to do another video of drive bies and going through tunnels.. Hope this help you :)
No other mods are required for this however you will have to tune the car for these headers. I would suggest getting an aftermarket Jpipe and Catback while your at it or at least the Jpipe.
@@DanielMartinez-vw6bs I have the Catted GrimmSpeed so that's the one I would recommend, the sound produced in this video is a combination of the UEL Headers, Catted GrimmSpeed Jpipe and Invidia N1 Resonated Duel Exit exhaust
I had an etune with Brentuning before adding the uel and an add equipment tune cost me around $150 if I remember correctly but this was several years ago at this point
There has not been a case that I heard of this...running mine for 6+ months now and no issue...they do cause higher Cylinder Temps/Exhaust Gasses but according to my monitoring it's not much, if you are planning to take your car for the track this mod is definitely not recommended but if you like the rumble on your daily ride then sure: )
did you notice any difference in turbo lag down low? UEL changes the pulse frequency for the twin scroll turbo, i've heard it can happen, did you notice anything of the sort? sounds fuckin beast man keep up the good videos🔥🔥
Not yet, the biggest thing is higher oil temps when fully warmed up and WOT, max i ever saw was 220 compared to the typical before UEL of 212, maybe an oil cooler add would be a good thing to do if you are riding hard often
The only issue I had was I mismatched the gaskets as they are side specific, so make sure to get that right or you will end up with a leak. If you are talking about the entire install process then yes you could run into some issues with Heat shields around the turbo and Jpipe, if they are rusted out, they will brake so I used a Torch to heat them up before undoing them, same thing for a stock Jpipe studs removal, use lots of heat or they break off.
@@fixflickss there's so much negativity going around about blowing up the fa engine with uel or major loss of power Makes me think it's just hype or hysteria
@@jeremiahwhite4500 lol yeah...my car is a daily, it's not like I'm WOT 10x a day....it was stage 2 before the header install and after the install I have not noticed a power loss or any issues with temperature. My catalyst Temps are below 1200 deg F at WOT and around 1000 at 70 mph cruising.

amazing! How are your cylinder temps? Have you noticed any overheating on the short run side given the FA20 was designed for ELH?
Everything has been normal and Bren tuning didn't see anything off during the etune...took the car for a 1300 mile round trip and nothing out of the ordinary
Also been monitoring Catalyst temp as this is the closest I can monitor on the AP and in WOT the gigahertz Temps are around 1200 degrees
