As a 63 yr old guitar junkie, My brain & ears have renamed Stefan Hauk to Stevie Ray Hauk! That solo is so epic that it is utterly ridiculous! I sub to Stefan’s RUclips channel and he totally crushes on every instrument in ALL genres of music he does cover versions of!

Yeah, it's not just the tone, as you've pointed out. The solos really sing. They make musical sense. It's like a BB King sense of timing and feel. And i don't usually get much into guitar solos.

I love the guitarist's playing, but this is a pop song (one of the best ever IMHO), it is NOT a blues-oriented song, which is how he played it (he's clearly a fan of SRV, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Larry Carlton, et. al. as I am). Yes, Curt's soloing has some blues-ish vibrato & and some sustained bends that you see in blues, but fundamentally it's a pop song. Now, don't get me wrong...I absolutely LOVE the blues, but IMHO it's quite out of place in this song, except -perhaps - during the outro. Having said that, I know it's quite possible that this is a blues-oriented band adapting the tune to the blues genre, and if that's the case, they did a fine job. It's also obvious that the entire band has a lot of talent. Just my opinion & I'm not trying to be nasty here...

The lead singer knows how to sing. Perfect registration, full control of his vibrato, and his tone is as clear as a bell throughout all pitches and vowels. Really good stuff.
Yes, his largest contribution might have been the mixing, but at times when his voice was called upon- I was impressed.... I miss him! And his studio. Even his dog. Ouch!

This is one of my all time favorite songs. I didn't want to like this cover as much as I really do. There are so many good things to say about this version. The drummer and bass player are playing perfect pocket. The keys are hitting all the signature voicings. Stefan Hauk on lead, found a way to make the song his own without taking anything away from the song. Love, love ,love everything about the guitar tone. The vocals were all on point. I love the change in the melody. I feel like it made the vocals interesting without changing the feel. Great job guys! I've played this at least 100 times.
That was sensational. The overll sound, the feel, the tight, driving rhythm, Darren's excellent lead vocals, and ESPECIALLY Stefan's incredible lead guitar. (both the solo and the outro). I just kept saying "WOW!". VERY impressive.

This group has hands down some of the finest musicians and vocalists I’ve ever heard in my life. Such an absolute joy and privilege to hear and see them perform. Spectacularly clean and smooth on every recording they do.

everyone in HSCC is world class .. absolutely everyone !! But with the smiling and knowing look on the band members faces during Stefan Hauk's Fender Stratocaster guitar solo they all knew they absolutely 'crushed it' !!
I never thought about that song one way or another, never a big Tears for Fears fan, but this cover, holy smokes, can't get enough of it, this band is the best thing to ever happen to the internet!

Sadly what the current lineup is putting out doesn't hold a candle to these older videos. They have that lounge band sound to them now.
