    Swing in on the side that is shiny.

    • @arunbabu6524
      @arunbabu6524 Год назад +16

      The ball will swing to the side which is not shiny. The rough side has more resistance to the air. Due to the friction the ball will travel more distance on the shining side and less distance on the rough side , making the ball swing to the side which is rough.
      Reverse swing is just the opposite of it.

    • @sinclairmasher1748

      @Arun Babu that's for standard swing bro. Do you understand reverse swing?

    • @arunbabu6524
      @arunbabu6524 Год назад +1

      @@sinclairmasher1748 Certain seam position required for reverse swing (sort of parallel to the Batsman, explained by akhtar in some video) and that seam position along with the very rough surface causes turbulence. If this turbulence is enough to overcome the pressure difference then reverse swing can be achieved. That is why speed is very important in reverse swing. You need enough speed to cancel the conventional swing and start a swing in the opposite direction. If we cannot achieve speed then more roughness will help in achieving reverse swing ( why crickets cheat with the ball ). This is the reason why reverse swing is a late swing. Certain cricketers like Akhtar can deliver snake ball ( bit of conventional swing earlier and a late reverse swing before hitting the pitch- full tose ball against vvs )

      @@adhirajsingh1806 no there is a certain way of releasing the ball as well to swing...... Bhubneshwar Kumar, Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar, Arshdeep Singh are not the bowlers who are known for their pace ..... They are gentle medium but look at the swing they used to get or they get (Arshdeep Singh) even with the old ball ...... So only bowling full fast and straight is not the key..... You need to know how to release and when to release

    • @adhirajsingh1806
      @adhirajsingh1806 Год назад +19

      @@tarunrana6729 it's released in the same way as conventional swing. Bhuvneshwar and Praveen only ever got a small amount of reverse swing (which all fast bowlers get, it's just physics) but those who were great exponents of it were always fast. Arshdeep has never bowled with a ball old enough for reverse swing in international cricket so can't say anything about him. Irfan Pathan was pretty fast before his injuries, used to be able to touch 140s. Had Shami like speed. Shami, Umesh, and Bumrah are all really good at reverse swing and that's because they're quite fast.

    Ball basically becomes heavier on shiny side and lighter on rough side, that's the simple secret behind reverse swing- good in air.
    For normal swing when ball is slightly less shiny on one side and shiny on other more air friction is greater on slightly less shiny side hence forcing the swing.

    • @UmpireStrikesBack

      @@Force9315 Velocity - Pressure difference makes the ball swing bro.

    • @ayanmukherjee2946
      @ayanmukherjee2946 Год назад +6

      That's for conventional swing, which is a function of the pressure difference in the fluid medium (air) due to the rotation on the ball. It is highly conducive in windy and/or overcast conditions (where the air is heavier resulting in higher pressure differences).
      But what do you do on dry and dusty conditions as a fast bowler? That's where reverse swing comes to your aid because, unlike conventional swing, reverse swing does not depend on the conditions or the wind at all! Like you could literally pull off reverse swing in a vacuum.
      Reverse swing is a function of the shape of the ball. The shiny side of the ball is heavier, and the rough side of the ball is lighter since extra layers on the surface of the ball has eroded as compared to the shinier side. Naturally, the ball will drift towards the heavier side, i.e. the shinier side. That's the essence of reverse swing.
      Now imagine if you release the ball at such an angle that the shinier (aka heavier) side of the ball is not facing towards the left or right, but downwards! The dip on the ball towards the heavier side is what causes those curling Shoaib Akhtar or Mitchell Starc yorkers to look like confusing full tosses, but by the end of the trajectory they dip sharply to turn into lethal toe crushers.
