I could sit and listen to Tom for hours. We are living and seeing history as it was. Worst than waiting for Christmas as a kid but looking forward to "28'. Thank you to all that made this possible.
Bill - This is GREAT - and right on time, too! I was JUST explaining cylinder pressure to a really good friend that I do some hotrod parts for after he told me that LOWERING the compression in the engine made more horsepower. Tom 'splained it better than I did!! BRAVO!! Keep up the great work!! I'm on the edge of my chair AGAIN waiting for next weeks' installment!!
So I was doing science experiments in the late 60's with my box of caps and a hammer... 😆 Anyone else put this together..... ? \/ Tom's family came out to California during the dust bowl ! Anything sound familiar about that ? Tom Jobe - dust bowl ? The only thing it was Tom Jode in the movie ! Still sounds about the same + the whole dust bowl deal ! "The Grapes Of Wrath" This series is amazing ✌😎
The 1957 cranks were the best to ever come out of Detroit. I have heard that the 58 cranks did not receive the same attention that the earlier ones did . Most small specifics like this have been lost in time for sure.
I ABSOLUTELY Love Tom's explanation of Detonation versus Burning of fuel. I have never heard the analogy of a cap gun caps used before............. I will use this when I explain detonation to my students. Well done!!! PS. I am hooked on this series! I can't stop binge watching these priceless videos!!
I love all of this, absolutely fascinating, thanks to Mr Jobe, Bill and crew from a old drag racing fan from New Zealand. Couldn't drag me away from these if they were 5 hours long. Love the information, cheers Mike.
Science, physics, and logic, will usually prevail. Those Chrysler cranks must have been made from top grade material. Tom is a very smart man. Great series. Unfortunately, we just lost Jere Stahl, of Stahl Headers. He passed away a few days ago. A real innovator.
Those main caps @ 2:26 .. . I wonder if you could just take 4140 stock, drill and ream for the studs, harden to about 58 Rockwell and surface grind or Blanchard grind it on one side, because those pictured look to me like some kind of forgings.Would you necessarily have to line hone the block for the main studs? Tom did say, in the previous video no 26, that they never line honed the 1st generation Chrysler block and I assume he meant for anything !!
Bill, I am becoming like the kids that used to wait outside the bookstores to be there when the next issue of Car Toons came out. Great stuff. I do hope they will get into ignition advance and such. Thanks Again......Don

These stories are terrific! I am glad so much is remembered from that time. All of this is just gold.

There needs to be a "church "of the fuel guys . Each week we get a new "preacher "to share photo's and memories !
This is so interesting, I could sit and listen to this for hours.
