The board is good. People are talking about how it's nothing compared a custom built, but it's actually pretty comparable. Yes you can fine tune custom boards to be the exact sound and feel you want but the Azoth gets pretty damn close. Before this board I was running a QK75 and while that board does feel amazing and great to type the Azoth is pretty much like 80% of the way there. What I think people are ignoring is that it's the perfect middle ground for those who want enthusiast features while also not sacrificing on performance. On one side of spectrum you have the Wooting and on the other side you have a custom built. This is right smack in the middle.
@@Shibathedog Yep sadly those gatekeepers are loud and extremely annoying. @@lafan023 QK80 by Qwertykeys has a Trimode PCB but Bluetooth is not recommended for gaming because the polling rate is slower. Jris75 has also PCBs with Bluetooth (or 1000Hz Wired) - plenty of the new custom keyboards offer wireless options but i personally prefer a wired Keyboard with a coiled cable (they look superb). If you are looking for something that is not a Groupbuy than you can check out Keychron Q series (Q1 Pro costs less than 200$ for the full set and has Bluetooth and wired mode), for gaming alone you should have a look at the Wooting60HE, as it offers some nice gaming related features. They all don't have a display, but that's something I wouldn't want on a keyboard (do you really want to see your CPU temperature on your keyboard?) - if that's something you need, then maybe get a macropad with display... I find the "whole package" quite bad on that board - plastic case with a display? Most custom keyboards have a full aluminum case and you can get nice matching PBT doubleshot keycaps. 300$ for that board is just a cashgrab.
Funny you say that while in custom keyboard groups it's common to spend $500-1000. Not to mention literally thousands of combinations of switches and caps, etc.. It's a little overwhelming for a novice to keyboards, and not something everyone wants to get into. I bought a K70 several years ago and love it. I also just bought an RK84, which was actually $16 cheaper. Sounds and feels incredible. Also, no numpad or integrated software that has different effects according to the game I am playing. What I am saying is that there are a lot of options. Choose what you want.
Disagree with the reason for the plastic bottom. My RK84 Pro is metal all round, has wireless 2.4 and bluetooth. my guess is that theyre giving themselves room to release a "pro" version" later.
A very pleasant sound experience after all that PORON talk made me think it was gonna be something else 🤣 BTW love the way you tapped that.....err...them keys!
The snobby keyboard community hates it and the regular chumps with no hobbies wondering why it's so expensive. This really makes you wonder, who is this really marketed towards? Lmao
Good looking keyboard, though I dont like small keyboards. I just ordered ROG Strix Flare II Animated. I just like a full keyboard. I often use a numpad. Itis way faster way to do numbers than with a number row
Bluetooth can be implemented on a full aluminum chassis with smart design choices. North facing LED/south switches, appears no 5 pin compatibility? This thing is kind of a miss due to some just real half-ass choices on a lot of really small easy to fix problems.
There are 5 holes for 5 pin. And bluetooth for gaming? No, you need 2,4, and even then the QK75 which has it with alu body (the only custom I know with 2,4) has 100ms more latency than this.
People complaining about this don't understand the target audience. This is for gamers, that want their gamer keebs. Gamers that don't care about DIYing their own keyboard. They like the gamer aesthetic and have the disposable income. This is not for the smarty pants mechanical keeb noobies that think their DIY royal kludge filled with foam/tapemod/pe foam can be made 1000x better and cheaper with akko switches and dyesub pbt clone keycaps, nor is this for a true cherry mx brown/black enjoyer with years in the hobby and grail keebs in the thousand $ value. even building a cheap mid range mech can easily get the cost fast in the hundreds. Just a basic jris65/75 or qk65/80 or even a cheaper nk87EE or tiger lite with basic gmk wob and meta appropriate gat inks/cj/oil kings/alpacas switches will be more expensive when built than this asus board and "possibly" less practical. Gamer keebs will always have a place, even at this price. RGB my dudes.
lubed stabs, lubed switches, gasket mount and a programmable LED screen? It actually doesn't seem too bad. Guess this is another way to do it. Let the Glorious and Keychron fight it out, learn from it all and then drop your own keyboard two years later.
just built my keychron Q1 Pro, got it all done, didnt install key caps, tested it, and 1 socket does not work! uggghhh, got to have them send me a whole new pcb, sucks.
The side elements of the display aren't OLED because otherwise you would get terrible burn-in. This is precisely what happens to my Steelseries H Wireless display.
The $250 is what i think a bit justified! Based on the materials and the ONLY keyboard (and with the features), i'd say the board would costs around $120-$140 with the screen too. The keyboard is PACKED and with a pretty low latency with the help of the plastic chassis, which is suitable for competitive gamers in the community. And the fact that they included a whole set of lubing station is insane! Very rare. Therefore, i think the price should be lowered down to about $180-$220 as you're getting a whole package too. And yea, it might be expensive for a gaming keyboard, but since ASUS (?) ROG is approaching the gaming AND custom keyboard enthusiasts community's level, It's surely worth it. (If the price drops a bit like a discount or smth yk). But its just an opinion of mine for this arguement of price. Though theres an alternate keyboard that has similar features to this one, though they dont include the lube station haha, such as Fantech's Maxfit81, so similar to this but with a smaller oled and no lubing station too.
Yeah, I kinda agree. $250 for these features is actually reasonable in the keyboard space. A $100 barebones is acceptably in the “budget” territory, but add switches and caps and you’re at $180 anyways. Take into account included lube and lube station, switch opener, prelubed switches, and the unique stuff like the OLED and the trustworthiness (if annoying bloat) of Asus software over more concerning Chinese budget brand’s software…this is actually a compelling value.
Bring on the barebones version! The chassis is great. The keycaps, not so much. The switches sound like they are worth checking out. I need to upgrade my RGB. I'm only getting an 18% FPS increase. 🤣
Great Review but i didn't hear anything in regards to MAC compatibility with the keyboard management software.? not a single reviewer mentions this or speak on this to inform anyone. spolier alet there is no mac.dmg for the management software that i've found correct me if i am wrong..
I’m hoping it’s the mic but with all of those features for sound dampening inside the keyboard, it’s disappointing that there is no THOC to the sound.😢
Companies need to realize that these kind of products need to be easily replaceable since regular users develop a taste of a particular one, but when it costs as much as this, one tends to hesitate a lot in deciding whether to get it because of the fear that JUST IN CASE you want to get the same thing in the future. Since gaming peripherals dont have too long of a life depending on the gaming intensity, expensive as s**t peripherals are not a good marketing strategy. (imo)

6:49 that's how my parents type
What’s crazier. $300 for an ASUS keyboard or $300 for a Razer Mouse
$250!? Keychron is still my top keyboard maker today
8:50 "When you turn on the RGB it does boost your FPS as well. Don't forget that."
I'm going to turn on the flashlight in my smartphone so I can gaze my eye upon all that RGB goodness from my smartphone's flashlight." 😀 And I will stare at my phone's flashlight for hours.
Ha ha. Just kidding. Oh, wait. I'm not going to take care of my right eye. I'm blind in my left eye! 😄
Dygma raise is a life changing experience, and this is another keyboard.
That wood wrist rest looks super nice, where is it front?
how does this even compete with other stuff that exist already? You could probably get a nice board from some groupbuy for around same price or just get a keychrone
I think the little OLED they use is the same screen thats on the back of the ROG phone. Looks like the same size.
That would be smart on their part!
What would you recommend Apex Pro TKL 2013 or Razer Huntsman V2?
Still nothing compares to the wooting for gaming
The only thing stopping me from getting this keyboard is the gray color. yuk.. If it was black or white, I'd own it. Can't get over the gray tho.
nice though itll become an issue if you decide to change the keycaps to something aftermarket. not bad though for something right out the box and good for anyone who is tempted might want to eventually go into customising their keyboard. do hope there is a way to get the battery replacement aftermarket for poeple that do go wireless.
"nice though itll become an issue if you decide to change the keycaps to something aftermarket"
why tho
I just bought this keyboard with the brown switches, it’s amazing coming from a gmmk
"Poron foam." Who was the genius in the ASUS marketing team that thought publishing that would be a good idea?
Keychron k2 peo alluminum chassis with a full lube set from glorious costs you about 180$. This seems allot of money for the package
What's the wrist rest you are using? And where can I get one? 😮
I have one and love it , still deciding if I should bother getting a wooting for overwatch already having this lovely board.
I don't think it changes EVERYTHING but it is a good keyboard now being hot swappable allowing consumers to keep it longer.
Really cool keyboard, but unfortunately it's too expensive for what it offers. Would be worth considering if it was half the price and did not say "gaming" anywhere on it
That is one beautiful keyboard!
For that price you can Just buy a fully custom Keyboard that will feel and Sound 1000 Times better (and still pay less)
100%
Won't say I'm disagree, if only chasing for desired feel and sound cheaper customs sure can be cheaper, but if looking at the whole package (stocks, features, qc, etc.), customs do fell kinda short there at least on the same price imo.
One that has Bluetooth/2.4Ghz/Wired?
No, you need 2,4, and even then the QK75 which has it with alu body (the only custom I know with 2,4) has 100ms more latency than this.
suprisingly good sounding and kinda have a tint of soft clack
Azoth is a term in alchemy which means the source of all metals, which alchemists think is mercury.
The OLED screen is nice. 🤩
Let the Glorious and Keychron fight it out, learn from it all and then drop your own keyboard two years later.
just built my keychron Q1 Pro, got it all done, didnt install key caps, tested it, and 1 socket does not work! uggghhh, got to have them send me a whole new pcb, sucks.
they wanted to release this mid february, almost a month delayed
The side elements of the display aren't OLED because otherwise you would get terrible burn-in. This is precisely what happens to my Steelseries H Wireless display.
i could not find this information elsewhere, would you mind sharing a source to that?
And where can we can the wrist-rest showed at 5:06 minutes ?
yea keyboards really have changed. Luv ur vids
No numpad is a deal breaker to me. Maybe if they make a full size one. And where is the prnt screen key???
It’s 210€ here and I am probably getting one this week..
Cool tech, very gamer-y. But man, we are now fine with companies charging us $250 for a wireless keyboard.
You mention the keycaps are doubleshot PBT, the Amazon listing says ABS in the product headline and PBT in the description. I wonder which is correct.
Hi! can you use this keyboard with your macbook? If it does. Can I change the lighting of the keyboard? I'm planning to buy one.
I'd wait for Azoth 2, this first gen is promising
I'm waiting for the 3!
IIRC this board also has a higher polling rate than standard for less latency gamer things.
Bring on the barebones version! The chassis is great. The keycaps, not so much. The switches sound like they are worth checking out. I need to upgrade my RGB. I'm only getting an 18% FPS increase. 🤣
At this price they could afford to give you an un-braided cable so it could be more flexibly routed.
Great Review but i didn't hear anything in regards to MAC compatibility with the keyboard management software.? not a single reviewer mentions this or speak on this to inform anyone. spolier alet there is no mac.dmg for the management software that i've found correct me if i am wrong..
Only thing missing is analog input like the wooting. And 65%.
RGB = 10 TO 15 fps boost. tried and true, through and through,
ohhh nice perks! Mine gave me additional 16Gb of ram
You can get amazing Custom Boards for this kind of money.
Can’t wait for the video in which @HipyoTech tears this apart.
I’m hoping it’s the mic but with all of those features for sound dampening inside the keyboard, it’s disappointing that there is no THOC to the sound.😢
"Please don't tell me it's $250 bucks..." It is. *Face palm* 🙃
(imo)
I have literally purchased every reasonably priced Logitech g602 mouse because using anything different just feels wrong lol. I have 1 brand new back up and 2 I need to attempt to repair.
I liked this when I saw it at CES, and I still want it
It's cool they're trying to bridge the gap between casual users and enthusiast. It sounds decent for a prebuilt keyboard. But, with that being said I could definitely build a better keyboard for a cheaper price, or a better sounding one for the same price.
Thought I found it for $200ca but it was just on the wrong shelf. I would pay that, can't justify paying $300.
Whenever a youtuber uploads some video with 'changes EVERYTHING' in the title, you can be sure that it doesn't change anything and it's 100% clickbait
The price tag is outrageous.
If you guys think this is expensive you dont want to see the price of custom keyboards
this board is expensive considering what's being offered, you can get a monsgeek m1 for 99.99 usd and thats got everything this board has aside from the wireless connectivity and display that this has and still comes with a full aluminum case with way more colour options which leaves you 150 usd to spend on switches, keycaps and lube if you so desire.
Where are the NZXT product reviews?
It’s so funny they’re laughing about poron. I worked for a company that converted and sold poron in the us. I also had fun with the name when I learned about it
