In this video titled EU4 A to Z - FORMING A CELTIC UNION As Brittany Is INSANE I do a playthrough as Brittany in Europa Universalis 4 1.33 France. This is the series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Brittany, and I attempt to conquer Great Britain as "Little Britain" while also attempting to conquer every Celtic nation. So let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. If you enjoyed this video consider leaving a like and subscribing for more content in the future. is there a way for me to support you? like Patreon, etc? You make really good content!
Make the entirety of Malaysia Muslim for the sultan
Conquer Britain, the colonised become the coloniser.(just a suggestion)
Assert your dominance over the South China Sea and conquer its coastline.
Form Malaya and take over all spice provinces in the world. The Spice must flow!
Brunei is big. Brunei is blue. Brienei blobs out. You know what I'm thinking?
As Brunei, hold 100 East Indies core provinces by 1500. Less starting provinces, but less AE and weaker power blocs.

I am enjoying the more serious playthrough in the A to Z series. Though the silly ones are also quite enjoyable every now and then! Keep up the Great Content!
"That's right everyone it's time to truce break England"; a brilliant start.
You know it!
This was the highlighted comment on video feed... LMAO I'm dead
As an Irish person that is music to my ears
Hey Redhawk. The reason why England declared war on the Irish OPM is because once the pop up about them "going to declare war" happens they will never change their mind. This is particularly useful if you learn the AI is going to attack you, because you can go crazy and make a dozen alliances and then the AI will suicide attack you
That's useful information! TIL.
Hey it's pretty realistic cause if I think I'd declare war on someone I'd probably forget their alliances
I believe they keep the declaration on a timer and the calc divides your (and allies) forces by 4. Which is why coalitions always dow, but not always for normal wars (if you ally 7 nations).
I like the tryhard campaigns more with a little bit of Cilliness in them.
You can do serious playthroughs with obscure/unpopular nations to show their true potential and do some silly stuff with strong and popular ones to refresh the experience
As a Breton currently living in Anjou, I see your first expansion as an absolute win
Fun fact: Asturias and Galicia (NW of Spain), while not considered "celtic nations", have a very strong celtic influence in their culture (folklore, music, bagpipes...), so by liberating and vassalizing Asturias you were unknowingly expanding your celtic empire
Are bagpipes Celtic? I always thought they were Gaelic and people associated them with the Celtic stuff all round because Gaelic is a subsidiary of Celtic culture i guess
There really needs to be a celtic GBR variant formable.
The ai knowing who to ally just to mess with the player is very true. Somehow every time I am a opm in the empire all my neighbors ally austria
"I'll build these cavalry back later"
_Does not build cavalry later_
When playing as Brittany I highly recommend to no CB an Irish minor and then to go on pacify the rest of the island it's very easy.
Ive always said to my friends and will repeat again, should exist an achievement "Great Brittany" which consists in owning the entirety of British Isles as Brittany
The more enjoyable campaigns are the ones where you are at least kind of serious. The silly ones were cool but the same every time really
Brittany is the nation where you just wonder "why do they still exist and why are they now colonizing" in 1650
They are also the nation that magically is suddenly able to ally Castile whenever you try Provence
I like the idea of mixing up between silly and serious games.
No Galicia, Asturias and Portugal? INCOMPLETE.
Speaking of Celtics, what're your plans for the Irish Minors? Are you going to do all of them, or will it be like a Shogun situation where only a couple will get an episode?
I’ll probably do all of them since there’s less of them
@@TheRedHawk Any chance you do one as a Pirate Republic?
@@ShadowWolfRising I 100% support your idea.
@@TheRedHawk A quick Irish Exodus to America would also be a possibility to make the videos different :)
yo red hawk i know this isnt the austria guide but i just wanted to thank u for inspiring me to do my first ever WC which worked out to be a one faith as Austria!
Austria are good for a WC because you can be a little lazy with the HRE to pick up your slack
I LOVE THIS SERIES! Please continue all the way to Z. You rarely see any guides or gameplay of most of these nations, and it's fascinating what you can do with them.
Idea for an achievement, Free Brittany: stay independent with out allying France or England until 1580
in other words, leave Brittany alone
Poor Bretons, they still don't have Nantes back.
When you said Munster and you jumped into North Germany, I was like: What the hell is Brittany doing there with a core ? Münster is a German inland city ... haha ... Munster makes more sense 🙂
Greetings from Germany.
Münster is German... For now...
March towards Germany to the sound of bombard and biniou, while eating Kouign amann.
I do really enjoy the serious campaigns, but some of my favourite episodes are some of the silly ones. Especially the ones where you make up some weird goal and achieve it. So I would definitely love to see some "silly" campaigns once in a while. Either way, you're doing absolutely amazing with this series. Keep up the great work!
Brittany's name does not come from the name Britain, but from the origin of their people, the Britons. Its never really been called Little Brittany before really recent times.
And where did those Britons come from? Britain, as they were fleeing the Anglo-Saxons.
@@internetguy8075 The basis for the name "Britain" and "Brittany" come from the "Britons". My point was that the names shared an ancestor, and not that Brittany was named after the more modern, English/Saxon idea of the British isles.
Basically, i was referencing one name not coming from the other, but both coming from the old Briton name for the region, as cousins so to speak.
@@wesleyquere4979 Fair enough, I see what you mean.
As someone who's new to EUIV, I like the more serious ones, helps me learn.
After trying a thousand times as Beloozero
AI Beloozero: Hold my beer
Hawk I just wanna say I've been watching you for a long time already and you're one of my favorite youtubers, not just from EU4!
Incredible, I loved it! Long life to the Celtic Empire!
I think one of the things that makes EU great is the ability to do so much random stuff and rearrange known history in a variety of ways. Just having crazy stuff happen while on a regular campaign is an awesome surprise, but both shooting for crazy stuff and regular campaigns are fun. It was cool seeing Asturias get resurrected.
Norway/Denmark has an event where it can give Scotland back their islands for a relations boost, which the AI will sometimes take. That's how Scotland got those back. Then Denmark had leftover Norse claims that it could declare with, but with no bordering provinces anymore it stopped wanting to take them and so used all the remaining warscore on releasing nations.
Brunei makes me think of prunes, and this is a fruit, so it's close enough to wine. So how about as Brunei, achieve the "trading in wine" modifier?
But obviously, Brunei being a Sunni nation won't actually care about wine, so that means they won't get money out of it, so Brunei also should go bankrupt while achieving this goal.
I personally like the tryhard part of A-Z since they can be taken as a guides with a few different steps from your goals.
The challenge made me think of some achievement like: "The little Britain that could": as Brittany unite Great Britain region by 1500 (or 1550)
I love the area conquest, where you conquer a major amount of land. Being able to do formable nations. Also I would like to see some history lessons, where you talk about historical events. What ifs. Overall very interesting to watch. ISP would be proud.
I like a good mix of the fun and serious A to Z content. Great video!
Love your videos! Always great content. Thanks for working so hard to get these videos out. I like the silly goals and serious goals. Why not do both every campaign? Have a serious primary goal and a silly secondary? Best of both worlds.
Hello everyone welcome back to the a to z challenge the challenge where we play every nation in eu4 in 1444 which is unique enough of course and today we are playing as Brittany
I’m playing as Burgundy rn and I got Bohemia in the succession crisis.
When I was forced into an independence war by event, all of Austria’s allies, including Spain, joined the war since they were the Emperor, as well as Bohemia’s own allies.
If Poland hadn’t intervened, I don’t think I would’ve won it solo.
I personally like a mix of the serious and silly episodes. I think it'd be fun for you to be serious for the difficult nations and be silly with the strong/easy nations.
Babe wake up a new A-Z just dropped
I enjoy you playing seriously! I watch yters instead of playing the game myself because they're better than me :P
I am from Asturias, and it is the first time I see someone "liberate" my nation. Thank you :)
man i was thinking "damn brittany? brunei must be really soon" and then i scroll and its literally the next nation
I personally like more serious campaigns, but one chaotic from time to time seems great too !
As a native Breton desperate to see fun Breton run, I couldn't wish any better. you just earned a sub ^^
I like your balance between silly games and serious games :)
Great work with the A to Z series so far! Keep it up!
Balance seems to be the best way to do these A to Z episodes
I like the mixed approach…try hard and have fun!
I learn a lot from the serious campaigns. A fun romp from time to time is good too.
I litteraly started learning breton this afternoon... seems to have been the good day to do so
Once I played as Burgundy, and it led to Brittany surviving and getting an incredible Colonial Empire, the had Brazil and some stuff in Africa and the Caribbean.
For me, i like the campaigns where you play seriously! ❤️
I would like balanced vids, its really fun watching tryharding and having fun in the same time
I generally prefer the more tryhard campaigns, but a bit of silly stuff with the classic big countries (England, Castile, France etc) sounds good ^^
I like both, I feel if you can have a great campaign, go for it, but if there's no real hope or otherwise fun to be had you have to make it yourself
tryhardy with stupid goals would be pretty funky
a mix of serious and silly campaigns is probably the best option
4:55 I think Burgundy declared war on Austria even though they fixed the AI not knowing the Emperor's allies because Charles (the starting heir) always has bold fighter so naturally starts utterly stupid wars although he might not have been in leader by that point so I wouldn't know.
10:52 In the more recent patches I've seen the AI actually vassal feed, so AI muscovy would have given their claims to Beloozero letting them occupy it and giving it to them in the peace conference. Another example would be with Armagnac who every game I play and in this video gain Bordeaux because France gives them their cores there for whatever reason and giving to them. I think the strange part is that it will only give claims or cores to other AIs instead of humans.
"cmon man i cant catch a break here" hahahahhaha
I find your more serious runs are good at showing what improvisation looks like in EU4 that a tutorial cant.
The way hawk said Breton gave me a heart attack
Normal player: Lets eat ireland first.
Red Hawk: YOLO continental europe!
More serious campaings please! They are so much enjoyable.
That AI Beloozero was nasty bro
6:11 A very short "Strengthen Noble Privileges"!
I wouldn't mind you taking it easy, to me this series is more about showcasing all the nations. But if you find a nation very enjoyable or maybe if there is a fun or hard achievment attached to it, go full try hard. Greatly appreciate your content!
Historically, Borneo was a big centre of trade, being known from as far as India and Japan with a whole bunch of names like 'Land of Diamonds' and 'Land of Gold' (according to Wikipedia, at least), and were also considered a thalassocracy.
Thus, the optimal play is to first steal all of the Malaccas' trade ports. And then to steal all of Great Britain's trade ports to prove that you are the superior maritime empire.
I Think it is nice to see a mix from focused and fun
For Byzantium you should play Ante Bellum
26:04 Sad galician noises
Sad asturias noises
5:35 I'm pretty sure if the AI doesn't accept a defensive call their alliance breaks so you can always call your allies after the war has started
I won't lie, AI Belozeroo completely cracked me up.
I prefer a balance between silly and serious. The silly ones were what initially got me interested in the channel, but I can appreciate a serious run as well.
I think it would be interesting to see you play nations from the base game in a mod like ante bellum. It would make for a nice change
I prefer try hard campaigns for sure! I feel like I learn more. Love the videos.
So for nations like France, Austria, you know the big guys I'm all for the silly campaigns. For the small countries or ones never played I would love to see a serious play through
You can call in your ally right after you declare the war even if the war screen says they would join as when they decline the call to arms their alliance is broken...
I personally like the more serious campaigns, but I don't mind having some less serious campaigns sprinkled in between. Honestly, I recommend having more unserious fun ones with the big nations, or at least the ones that are covered by many youtubers. This is because, whether intended or not, the A to Z series is kinda becoming a repository for videos that, even though technically not guides, provide insight on more obscure EU4 tags.
i got a challenge for you, i call it voltaire commits unalive.
play as any christian nation not in france, the empire or italy, become emperor and realease ALL, and i mean ALL possible nations whose cores are at the start of 1444 within the cultural regions of france, germany and italy and force them into the empire, min 1 elector per culture group (french, italian and german + you as emperor) i had way too many restarts and cant figure it out as muscovy gbr or castille, castille was my closest yet
I love the balance of silly and try hard campaigns 😊
I’m impressed. This reminds me of my Brittany playthrough I did once, though not anywhere near as successful as yours
I like serious and silly with a mix of serious.
For Brunei go for double wooden wall. Form Malaya and get their wooden wall from their ideas and culture shift to English and take theirs from the naval doctrine
you really want him to suffer
legit gameplay coupled with silly goals is the best way
I want try hard for sure. It's fun to see someone good at the game play these more obscure nations. So do it all!!
I like the focused campaigns, but at the same time, have some fun man!
Your videos make my day
i like a mix of serious episodes and silly episodes
Great game. Nice to see England humbled. If you wanted more Celtic lands you could have conquered Galicia too.
Heh... the thing is with Galicia is that even though it appeals to its celtic origin and culture, it doesnt even have a celtic language anymore so its really awkward
If he take Galicia he should take every territory that was in celtic control in the past: most of Spain (Castille and Leon at least), almost all Portugal, almost all France (except some regions in the south), northern Italy, Switzerland, half of Germany, south of Poland, Bohemia, Austria and even part of the Balkans and the interior of Turkey (Galatia). The British Isles of course and also even Iceland. It would be a very fun idea to a challenge with any celtic nation of the game (irish minors, Cornwall, Wales, the Isles, Man, Gaeldom and Brittany). Hope he will do it.
My favorite a-z episodes are the achievement runs.
Loving this series!
When the game is doing A to Z too and it's finally managing to do its Beloozero run lol...
My preference is for the more serious campaigns, but the silly ones are a nice break now and then. And some countries really only lend themselves to ridiculous ones.
Breton Britain, that is beautiful (in french, it becomes "Bretagne bretonne", not bad either)
I say follow whatever opportunity provides, if you can claim all of spain then take it, if england is easier do that in terms of how serious or what not a game is.
A true balance of both is best
*Alright guys, now let's do it for real.*
