I'm using two of those in combination with the R1220X receiver on my Bixler 2 for FPV. So far I could reach easily a distance of 1 km @ 550 m height with my DX6i (in US mode). I wonder how much I can go further - but that will be an experiment as soon as I have my APM working with a reliable fail safe.
I have heard of satellite receivers and transmitters for rc planes but I have no idea how they work. When I do a google search what comes up is direct tv or dishnet. Maybe you could create a short video on what it is for and how it works? I know that would make my day! John
How many channels do you have on this when connected straight to a Naze32? Can't find any info about that as this is usually connected to an other RX. Thanks.
+Painless360 oh sorry I think I got something wrong. I'm still new to the world of RC aircrafts, but your channel is helping me a lot. Thanks for that! I'm a little bit confused about the purpose of this satellite receivers. Is it to get the GPS coordinates to your flightcontroller or to replace it with your normal 2,4 GHz receiver to expand the range of your copter?
question, i calibrated all escs, motots spinning but not at the same rpm. 3 motors working correct but the left rear is slacking. Any idea where i should look at? Also when i look at the gyro, baro etc. they seem to be on red? thats the problem maybe? ty in advance.
+Vic Prk (Slick Vic) There is a blue light if its not leveled, also on the multiwiiconf ( i have a multiwii 328p flight controller) it shows that its leveled. Won't hurt to do it again though. Thanks for your input.
+Lexi Senior I'd start and make sure the ESCs are all calibrated and that the accelerometers are all calibrated too. You don't mention the type of flight controller you are using but all have some way of doing it. It is normal to get odd behaviour on the bench as the flight controller doesn't get the feedback it's expecting from the changes in throttle it uses so gets stuck in a loop. Also check the bearing in that motor is ok and the motor is exactly the same make and model as the others. If everything is calibrated and checks out then a very careful test hover over soft ground is a great idea..
+Painless360 Thanks, pretty sure i calibrated the esc the right way. Haven't calibrated the accelerometers I'll look into that. The flight controller is the multiwii 328p from hobbyking. Also the baro, gyro etc. is all red (off) when i arm the board. Prob some issue in the code, not sure yet but I'll find out. Thank you for the advice again. First quadcopter for me.
+InventorJS -Jacob Singh as an inventor, I'm sure you have checked the manual for binding normally. If you are plugging it into a flight controller without using a main receiver then have a look at github.com/cleanflight/cleanflight/blob/master/docs/Spektrum%20bind.md best of luck!
Hi Lee, the RX link is no longer working. You need this one I think www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__65902__OrangeRx_R110XL_DSMX_DSM2_Compatible_Satellite_Receiver_.html Is this the cheapest/smallest non PWM rx with full range?
+MicroRCFiend Thanks for letting me know - it's the bloody rubbish RUclips link system that edits and shortens it if you edit the text in the box after pasting it. A 'feature' no doubt! ;)

Aww! You promised a link to your thingieverse design :)
Nice vodeo as always.
good timing, my r615x is too hidden inside my frame spacer to get as far as i might like to, the carbon isnt helping either. thanks
Its ok to use this kind of satellite rx on helus setups? Safe to do so with rx r9110 rx? Thanks you.
Thanks for the review! Do you have any experience with the range of these satellites?
+jubifly I've been using them with no problem to the edge of legal range with no problems...
Painless360 sorry for asking again - how far is legal range in your country? would you trust them for a range around 500 meters?
Easily 600ft plus..

+Elaba83 Watch the other video where we set one up (linked in this video) for your answer..
Hey nice video. When I use this receiver, which TX model I have to use on my radio?
+KingQuestable TX model? Not sure what you mean. This is the same as any other Rx, the radio setup is identical..

See our videos in the 'Introduction to remote control' playlist for videos that cover a lot of the basics.. Best of luck!
+KingQuestable I'm with you, what the hell are they
Is that a serious comment Vic?

+Lexi Senior Your quad may think it's not level and tries to correct. Try re calibrating it level as it sits

You are a great help in multirotor aircraft!
