@@EwokToRemember Al Pacino driving down the LA highway, chasing criminals as wash-up Police officer In movie heat. All though In that movie it was Moby - New Dawn Fades.

There was an amazing cover of this song, in the epic Michael Man crime movie, “Heat.” Starring Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, and Val Kilmer.

Such a great song. Personal favorite Joy Division track and that is saying a lot because their two albums are incredible, in my opinion!

When you listen to Joy Division’s music, yes it Sumner, Hook and Morris playing their instruments, but the sound and sonic experience is down to the production of Martin Hannett! He was so much a part of Joy Division…. Effectively their 5th member! When Unknown Pleasures was released the band hated what Hannett had done to it….as it didn’t sound like they did as a band live, but their recorded sound is what they are so admired for. Hannett’s influence is often over looked.

Joy Division were very special in the way that they reached out to people in trouble with themselves, even before The Smiths. Manchester, England probably wasn´t a nice place to grow up in back then. One of their best in my opinion. Thank you!

That last riff is right from Sabbath's Luke's Wall which is the last instrumental piece from War Pigs. They just changed a few chords.

The guitar solo in the end is reminiscent of Black Sabbath "War Pigs" finale, by Joy Division own admission. "New Dawn Fades" is my favourite song by the band, also because of this association.

Excellent post-punk, with a Sabbath influence. I recommend the Southern Death Cult. The earliest version of The Cult. They were sort of post-punk gothic back then. This song was lamenting the native American genocide. Even though they're British ruclips.net/video/DVfUlh9dDF0/видео.html

i really enjoyed your take on this song. The first time I heard it was from a movie soundtrack and I was mesmerized...from the intro with the drums & bass, the incredible power behind the guitar, and add to that the fantastic vocal capturing the true, deep and raw emotions behind the song. This song by far is my favorite song and I play it over and over trying to gather the richness that encapsulates the mood. I really appreciated your input and you bring a realness to You Tube...ty!

A masterpiece by one of the greatest bands that the "Rock and Roll years" (1954/present) has ever produced.
But there are "others" : Novelty, The Only Mistake and Decades are also magnificent.

The key lyric in Joy Division's outlet:
"... looking for something more ... looking for something else."
Everybody wants something more. That's human nature. "Something else" is dissociation from the reality of one's existence.
Worth reacting to: Orchestral Manouevres in the Dark's "The New Stone Age."

It makes me laugh when Americans try to compare this band against Metallica, Nirvana or the likes, I am being polite here. Joy Division are a very English band, derived from a very English punk scene in the late 1970's. I would say there was only the smallest amount of American influences from the likes of the Stooges and maybe New York Dolls the English scene would reference. Ironically I first saw this bands song "Love will tear us apart" on the kids Tv programme Tiswas. I never saw them on TV again. I also lived in Macc for a few years, but until his mural was revealed, nobody really spoke about him, Ian Curtis. People in Manchester seem to adopt him as their own icon.

Nah man. I can definitely hear how these guys and this song in particular influenced some Metallica riffs. If anything it’s a compliment to Joy Division for being so influential to acts that came later.
