No, you didn't make a mistake in taking this trip. You relied on the train operators to proivde the advertised service which was the let down. However, you achived what you set out to do within 48 hours, so good on you! It has made me wary though of making a journey reuwirng multiple changes of trains. Your videos have become complusive viewing for me, so all the best for the future. 💗

What an Odyssey! Delays, loud lads and kids, missed connections and nearly the entire length and width of Britain. This was very entertaining and if such a complex trip had gone perfectly it would have been a miracle. It's a trip you'll always remember. Congratulations on 100K.

I once did a similar trip all around Ireland, Mayo, Dublin, Cork, Dundalk, back to Dublin - and a 5 hour coach trip from Dublin to Donegal Town and onto Letterkenny - when I eventually arrived back in Dublin by coach for my overnight coach and sail back to Manchester, I was wrecked

Well done Dylan, taking one for the team! This was class, enjoyed this, I would have absolutely hated the loud kids too, I am a stickler for noise on trains and expect silence from everyone!! But you made it and as I have said before, you should be extremely proud at the amazing range of travel across the world and at such a young age too. You have lived 2 lifetimes already!! Keep it up man! 👍✈🚆🚄

Agree. Am I selfish on that as I was once a child. Yup. But I just like to sit in silence watching. Don’t mind quiet chat but it’s the same with those with headphones that still think they have a right to have it as loud as possible so it leaks out and that we should all enjoy it as well. I’d pay a few £ for a total supervised quiet car that means no loud headphones and no children under 12 and that actually removes people that break certain rules.

Travelling from Manchester (preferably Victoria) to Holyhead for the ferry to Dublin on SailRail, I’d love to see more direct services without having to change trains at Chester, Crewe, Bangor or Lladnuo in Wales and ideally, I’d love to travel in first class where possible, preferably in a private compartment - on the ferry, especially overnight, I prefer to get a cabin for the 3 hours crossing if I’m feeling especially tired, otherwise it’s the Club Class Lounge on the Irish Ferries Ulysses ferry

Thanks Dylan that was great. You deserve all the praise you get. I wasn't expecting you to start at Berry Brow - a station I used when visiting friends on the road up to Castle Hill! I've used the All-line Rovers myself, they give you complete flexibility without having to worry about missing a pre-booked train and losing money as a result. I remember once completely altering my plans on Shrewsbury station when a train I wanted was cancelled. I was surprised you hadn't done that for this trip.
Although I live in Scotland I've never used the Caley Kipper as it has a bad reputation for reliability, unlike the older sleepers which I used to use quite happily.
£7 a pint for beer in London - and recently a Londoner had the nerve to complain to me about a bar in the Highlands charging £5! What a cheek!
I've no idea what monetised RUclipsrs earn, but you've earned it with this one Dylan. Well done.

Congratulations, Dylan. First of all congratulations on your 100,000 subscribers. Second of all congratulations on this wonderful and extraordinary video, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I must tell you Dylan that you are now my idol and my hero. You’ve done something I would like to have done, but haven’t been able: spend 48 hours on different trains. In my various trips in London and the UK, I could not have used that time for this extraordinary adventure. And in my country, Argentina, where we used to have a very wide railway network, most of it has disappeared. However, while in London my last time, in 1985, I did a station tour. In one of two days. I visited most railway terminal stations: Victoria, Waterloo, London Bridge (which is not real a terminal), Liverpool Street, Kings Cross, St. Pancras, Euston, and Paddington. I am sure I have missed one or two. Most of the stations I had used in my different. Thanks again, Dylan, congratulations and blessings. And see you again next time. William Grant (Willie) from Buenos Aires Argentina.

VERY Well done - both on the 100,000 subscribers; and the 48-hour ride. Compare if you will the bright happy face at the start of the video with the travel-weary knackered one at the end! You should have allowed yourself at least one standard sleeper cabin - we'd not have minded. But you'll know next time - as more laid-back videos would be nice, every now and then... Interesting that they feel the need to put notices on the backs of the tip-up seats on your Liverpool Street to Stratford train - informing us that they're not in use when they're in that state, isn't it? And there was me thinking they might be occupied by really small people... And, Aberdeen station... just when will they leave that place alone, I wonder? Thanks for staying awake to film Kintore, too. You'll have Inverness Airport next time you're up that way - and maybe Reston and East Linton - and maybe even direct from Huddersfield at that; seeing as ScotRail is doing its best to forget about its plans for an Edinburgh to Berwick local service...?!! There's an idea for you: everywhere you can get a direct train from Huddersfield to...

Thanks for taking us along on quite the adventure. You can never assume a trip will exactly to plan, especially when you make so short connection times. But I'm glad you were able to complete it without fully losing your mind!
One idea I've had for a trip that you could do for another video is a "first departing train" trip. You'd probably want to get that rover card you mentioned, but you try to get on the next departing train from the station. You'd have to set some guidelines to follow (i.e., if you need to eat, then you can catch the first train to leave after you are done, only get off at major stations to make sure you're not stuck at an hour-stopping station), but it'd be interesting to see where you'd end up. I did something similar to this in Italy (for only 4 hours and to smaller stations) and I had a blast seeing new places.

A marathon journey, and I could feel your frustration and exhaustion as the plan began to unravel. My wife and I took VIA Rail Canada's "The Ocean" from Montreal to Halifax in coach, back in 1983, and I envy those people who can actually sleep in coach seats on long-distance trains. I was a zombie for the following 24 hours until I managed to get a real night of sleep in a stationary bed.

Rather surprised that there wasn't any Class 777s along the sidings at Crewe, since they have been storing them there before they head to Merseyrail's depots since 2020. Even so, they still aren't in service to this day, but should be in operation by the 2nd quarter of this year. Anyways, that being said, I have to say a big congratulations to hitting 100k subscribers. It's rather hard to find someone documenting the UKs railway journeys, and when I came across your channel I couldn't stop watching. 2:17 Many years ago, I had a similar problem when travelling from Athlone and Mullingar on the Sligo line via Maynooth to Dublin Connolly, even though I had a tight connection from Dublin Hueston to Thurles - at Clonsilla, the train terminated and I was “peppering” as I knew that the traffic along Dublin’s Quays is notoriously busy at that time of day - in more recent times, this problem has been resolved with the use of the Phoneix Park Tunnel via Liffey Junction for passenger/commuter services

Well done on reaching 100,000 subscribers Dylan and for finding the stamina to do such a trip like that. I stumbled across your channel and videos during the pandemic and am supremely glad I did so as a few of the trains and trips you have reviewed in previous videos I will be sampling myself in May.

    Congratulations on the 100,000.
I agree with other commenters here that making an unobtrusive verbal commentary is good. Emphasis on unobtrusive, because far too many folk making videos turn them into showcases for themselves. So in this one you got it about right.
On several occasions I wondered if an historical comment or two might be good, such as "Paddington - designed by Brunel and opened in 1854", or as you left Birmingham, a comment on the building site for HS2 and the original London and Birmingham Railway terminus building that will be incorporated in it. Whether such things would be best spoken or in an on-screen text-scroll I'm not sure.
Thanks. I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Your expedition is the kind of thing I would have done when I was your age, which is now around 50 years ago. Cheers, from Cornwall.

Great trip in the 80s I used to travel on the class 37s in Scotland going up on a Sunday night and staying on until Friday on the internal overnights
Enjoyed your vlog and look forward to watching many more

Thank you Dylan. Another enjoyable trip. It reminds me of my train spotting adventures in the 80s. I’d also spend days away, travelling the country using rail rover tickets. Surviving on cans of coke, bad sandwiches from the station buffets, and sticking 10p pieces into the Space Invader machines.
Do you actually record loco / rolling stock numbers by the way, or does that not interest you?

Congrats on 100.00 Dylan! And well done on completing such a tiring trip! Defo gave me a chuckle, seeing operators fail at the simplest of things and then Caledonian sleeper throwing you on to a f'ing coach?? Was an experience just watching this lol. Looking forward to the future videos!

30 minute transfer at Edinburgh after coming off the Inverness train, you are a braver man than me! Have been delayed up and down the Highland line by all manor of things over the years from snow to broken windscreen wipers.

CONGRATULATIONS Dylan on reaching 100k! I subscribed very early on; can't believe it's been over two years now. 🎉🍾🎊😊
I thoroughly loved this video! Probably not so much fun for you but I enjoyed it. BTW, I love those slam doors on the GWR in Exeter. Something so nostalgic about them.
Hope you got right to bed after this trip and caught up on your much-needed sleep. 😴
Have a great weekend and see you next week!
