Things that nobody says..experience after 1000km 1. Engine is not smooth. It had vibrations. You cannot hear even your headphone because of the noise, let alone the pillion rider. 2. Clutch lever placed away from handle, if you don’t have a gigantic hand your fingers will hurt. Buy adjustable lever. 3. The handle grip is bulky and hard, not comfortable for long ride, buy new one. Side stand is too slanted, it takes enormous power and skill to lift the bike up from side stand. I had a pain on the left flank after being on road for a day. 4 seat is too hard. I thought it was just my coccydynia but the pillion also had butt pain, buy another seat cushion. 5. Low seat accessory not available 6. Poor headlight. 7. Some people have reported right side alignment problems but I have not had that

I’m not an RE fan and have mostly disliked their bikes but I bought the Himalayan after I test rode one. To your points. Engine is not smooth. Agreed but it isn’t too viby. I come from a Dominar 400 UG and trust me this engine is a lot smoother. Also, name one single cylinder 400+ CC motorcycle that is smooth and fast as well? None.
Handle grip is perfectly alright. I don’t have huge hands and I’m 5’8. Yes, it’s a tall bike which makes manoeuvering difficult sometimes given that it’s heavy too.
Seat comfort- very satisfactory. Dominar and dukes have a hard as stone seats so… this is an upgrade.
      Clutch too far- definitely.
Side stand is not good- agreed.
Headlight throw- non existent and this is infact in almost every LED setup. RE headlight is useless and I installed aux lights the very first day. On a 1-10 scale, headlights are -5.
Right side aligned- yes in my case but so was my Dominar.
I’ve done 550kms in a day and the Himalayan didn’t tire me out.
On the other hand the electronics are not good on the bike. The screen is laggy. Most times the joystick hangs. They need to work on this issue.
I guess this is not a perfect bike but serves the purpose of an adventure tourer pretty damn well.

the only throttle which has instant feel/no delay / no lag, is carbed cable throttle. ride by wire is well known for delays, this here delay is good amongst ride by wire bikes. ride by wire is the only thing allowing for cruise control, which we will hopefully see on the 452 later on in her sales life

This is bit technical, when you park the motorcycle in main stand , sit on the motorcycle on the pillion seat so that front end and the handlebar moves freely, hold the handlebars at straight and leave handlebar. It should fall either to left or right. But due to the disc and caliper weight, it falls to the left side. Now turn the handlebar towards the extreme left, leave it. It should stay there. Now turn to extreme right and leave. It should stay, but tends to move left side. This shouldn’t be happening. I thought it’s on my motorcycle. But it’s common for all bikes. Service people said. We can think this as simple issue, but over the period of time it develops pain in right side shoulder. This should reach RE asap

You are spot on with your conclusion about this right side pull on the Himalayan452 and this continues correction on long rides ( 500/600 kms ) on a long haul, does lead to some sort of a discomfort on both plams, wrists , right shoulder and left under arm. And all those who now bought these bikes are stuck with very annoying problem. The throttle lag isssue too becomes a serious handicap in the mountains, when one has to negotiate a large ditch, a fast climb from a slow flat surface and a quick left or right hand slide. Hopefully RE will look into these issues on later productions but maybe not, as is their habit to produce inferior quality motorcycles.

I own a new Himalayan 450 from a month ago. I had a problem with the steering, which is slightly on the right side. The dimensions between the front fork and tank are also different. At first service, I indicated the problem, but the mechanic said there was no problem. Now there is a tukbtukb noise from the front while passing small potholes and hard breaking. Sometimes, while breaking a bike, it tends to move slightly to the right side.

  • @zweispurmopped

Two ideas about the sideways pull:
    1. Could it be that the roads are slightly tilted to the right for water to run off? In that case the bike's normal stability may cause that sideways pull when following the bank. It's a very common thing to build roads at an angle for better drainage, especially in regions that experience hard rain often. I guess India's monsoon would count as such…
    2. Could this be an issue with the fit&finish? Have you or your mechanic tried to loosening the bolts that clamp on the front axle, compress the front fork a couple of times completely and then tightening the clampy bolts back to specced torque?
I am from Germany, I have not heard any of the German tests and motovlogging owners mention that effect with the 452.
