As someone who came from a small, southern country town, this isn’t at all surprising. They protect their own at all costs, regardless if the person has done horrendous things.

His colon ruptured….not sure was causes that… they might have had to remove a section of his colon then I believe that he required a second surgery for a complication with it. Plus the BOOZE.
Good research and story. Britney really does look a lot like her grandma, you can really see it when you showed a picture of her in. Her late teens. Britney’s story is so scary for the fact that all of this abuse went on for years…decades even, to somebody who on the surface you’d think would have enough money, popularity, and connections to be able to get help and easily get out of a bad situation. It just goes to show that abuse can happen to absolutely anybody, regardless of their station in life. I feel so fortunate to have been able to get away from a toxic narcissist abuser as soon as I became a legal adult, and to have had the support of enough people who did not believe the lies that he tried to slander me with after the fact. It hurts to think that you don’t have the support you deserve from your blood family, and it seems Britney is lucky to have the support of at least two family members in her aunt and uncle, but I hope she has a good support system of friends who love her like family should. I also hope she can get justice for what has been done to her, and she can have an easy, carefree life from then on, because lord knows this woman deserves it.

Toxic families are just that. If the family unit is interfering with your health, happiness and confidence then there is nothing wrong with minimizing or cutting contact with them. I agree based on my own personal experiences. But I can also say that it's very hard to not want to be around family at times. And it's hard to believe that they can be so cruel. We are always taught that family sticks together no matter what and family is the most important thing. So when your family is toxic, abusive, etc...it causes so much emotional conflict turmoil. It the most difficult relationship to break with or cut out of your life. It took me 40 years...with depression, anxiety, pain, abuse thrown in. I really couldn't fully do it until both of my parents were gone. Then I moved far away and cut them off completely...no communication. That also means other relatives who like to report on you and keep stuff stirred up. I hope for Britney's sake she cuts them all off, because they want her money and would use any opportunity to get back control. She needs to get lifetime restraining orders against them all. And not even let distant ones back in. Hire security to keep them away. Put things in writing(living will) to keep them away if she gets sick. No access to anything!

This reminds me a lot of my family on my mother’s side. My grandma, rest her soul, was sent to a sleep away Catholic school at 13 in order to protect her from her s*xually abusive father. She got pregnant with my oldest uncle at 16 and had 11(!) kids. The men in my family are controlling, which is probably why my mom ended up with my psychotic dad. My father did things to me when I was a child and I recently pressed charges against him for assault & battery. Very few people believe me. He’s soooo much like Jamie, except he’s a lot better at getting people to like/idolize him. He is possessive and treats me like a girlfriend, not a daughter. It’s disgusting. Breaking generational cycles is terrifying and an often lonely process. Half my family thinks I’m crazy because I recently got diagnosed with bipolar. I relate to Britney on SO MANY LEVELS. I hope she is able to heal and feel all the love we are sending her💞 She’s incredibly strong and has an unbreakable spirit.

If a man is abusive, either no one will know, or it would've been a public secret or he would be described as having a "crazy side" which is an euphemism of being aggressive. They will continue having friends despite everything and their family will always be on their side. Jamie has always been a heavy alcoholic, when you drink for that long of a time period your body no longer really craves food, just drink. This is why so many problems arise from the alcoholic health problems.

On selling the childhood home... I could see Jamie doing that as a punishment toward Britney. She's been refusing to work and he's been trying to push her to get back to work. So I could see him pulling the "well you're not working and there is no money coming in so we're going to have to sell this house to pay your bills." I had a step dad that was just as petty. He would take 90 percent of every pay check I had because "bills" and then shame me for everything that I would buy with my remaining income. I was 18 when he started that. I couldn't move out because he was taking everything from me and my mom let him do it. I finally moved out to live with my ex husband when I was 21 and he still tried to take my paychecks. I stopped working for awhile and he tried getting my ex to pay him "because I still owed him for past expenses." He would make up supposed debts for me to pay. I told him to pound sand and refused to talk to my mom until she left him. Jamie reminds me of him so much.

Time and distance helped me appreciate the learning opportunity in living with that kind of person so that I can empathize with and try to help others that may be going through the same kinds of financial and emotional abuse. It's harder for people who are in those kinds of abusive situations to see it as abuse and get out. It took me a long time to even acknowledge that I'm a victim of abuse because from my point of view I wasn't getting physically hit so therefore it wasn't abuse. Psychological abuse is so much harder to break away from than physical abuse and in some ways it is far more damaging. I completely get why Britney is so afraid right now to do anything even though her dad has been removed. While that sounds nice on paper, there is going to be years of trying to untangle that web of fear that they put into you.
I think it was emotional blackmail and punishment when she showed confidence and spoke out. They indirectly told her that they would ABANDON her if she went independent. This house represented her childhood=biological attachment to the family= herself. "We took away your freedom, money and we can also take away your memories from the good childhood"...so that she would relapse out of fear of being completely alone and come back being their slave.

I concur. I am from a small Kentucky town, there is a good ol bou system. No one wants to rock the boat, they turn an eye....and also a star athlete from the town....why, they could never do any wrong. All morality and merit is based on..."they work hard, they have a family, they've been a good member of the community"....so on. It's awful. I love being from the country.....that mindset though is one of the reasons I moved away. I love the land, nature.....there are good folks. However the minds are narrow, largely of bias, judging. Be mindful that they didn't have the ability to until media and the public drew attention. Jaime made a statement that it is all a conspiracy. As someone who came from a small, southern country town, this isn’t at all surprising. They protect their own at all costs, regardless if the person has done horrendous things.
Unfortunately, I think it happens in places like that a lot more often than people may realize. It’s kept very quiet to any outsiders and the cycle continues.

Anywhere you have the evangelical fundamentalist churches where they believe the man rules the household...and women are just there to serve or make babies....you see lots of disrespect and abuse of women. I've seen hunting dogs treated better than women. And ALL the men doing it are always considered such fine Christian men in the church and community.

That explains why Jamie is problematic. Britney's grandfather was beating his wives and children. Jamie and his siblings thought it was "normal" to be abusive and controlling. Also, the fact their family is active in Church is probably the reason why people from their town defended Jamie.
Also, Britney's grandmother seems to be a great mother, based on those interviews. I doubt a good mother would leave behind her children with an abusive monster. I don't think that's suicide.

I grew up in a small town in Texas close to the Louisiana border. None of this surprises me. It’s why I got the hell out as soon as I could. The primary way of thinking revolves around God and men. Women are expected to be submissive. Domestic violence is a huge problem and a lot of times the police don’t do anything because they abuse their wives too. It’s freaking sad!

Britney’s story is so scary for the fact that all of this abuse went on for years…decades even, to somebody who on the surface you’d think would have enough money, popularity, and connections to be able to get help and easily get out of a bad situation. It just goes to show that abuse can happen to absolutely anybody, regardless of their station in life. I feel so fortunate to have been able to get away from a toxic narcissist abuser as soon as I became a legal adult, and to have had the support of enough people who did not believe the lies that he tried to slander me with after the fact. It hurts to think that you don’t have the support you deserve from your blood family, and it seems Britney is lucky to have the support of at least two family members in her aunt and uncle, but I hope she has a good support system of friends who love her like family should. I also hope she can get justice for what has been done to her, and she can have an easy, carefree life from then on, because lord knows this woman deserves it.

I agree based on my own personal experiences. But I can also say that it's very hard to not want to be around family at times. And it's hard to believe that they can be so cruel. We are always taught that family sticks together no matter what and family is the most important thing. So when your family is toxic, abusive, etc...it causes so much emotional conflict turmoil. It the most difficult relationship to break with or cut out of your life. It took me 40 years...with depression, anxiety, pain, abuse thrown in. I really couldn't fully do it until both of my parents were gone. Then I moved far away and cut them off completely...no communication. That also means other relatives who like to report on you and keep stuff stirred up. I hope for Britney's sake she cuts them all off, because they want her money and would use any opportunity to get back control. She needs to get lifetime restraining orders against them all. And not even let distant ones back in. Hire security to keep them away. Put things in writing(living will) to keep them away if she gets sick. No access to anything!

This reminds me a lot of my family on my mother’s side. My grandma, rest her soul, was sent to a sleep away Catholic school at 13 in order to protect her from her s*xually abusive father. She got pregnant with my oldest uncle at 16 and had 11(!) kids. The men in my family are controlling, which is probably why my mom ended up with my psychotic dad. My father did things to me when I was a child and I recently pressed charges against him for assault & battery. Very few people believe me. He’s soooo much like Jamie, except he’s a lot better at getting people to like/idolize him. He is possessive and treats me like a girlfriend, not a daughter. It’s disgusting. Breaking generational cycles is terrifying and an often lonely process. Half my family thinks I’m crazy because I recently got diagnosed with bipolar. I relate to Britney on SO MANY LEVELS. I hope she is able to heal and feel all the love we are sending her💞 She’s incredibly strong and has an unbreakable spirit.

The Spears family reminds me of the mentality of the older generation in my town. If a man is abusive, either no one will know, or it would've been a public secret or he would be described as having a "crazy side" which is an euphemism of being aggressive. They will continue having friends despite everything and their family will always be on their side. I can probably bet it had to deal with legal threats of Jamie. Jamie exudes loads of power and still does, but now that he does not have the upper hand in this situation, people feel less inclined to be silent. On selling the childhood home... I could see Jamie doing that as a punishment toward Britney. She's been refusing to work and he's been trying to push her to get back to work. So I could see him pulling the "well you're not working and there is no money coming in so we're going to have to sell this house to pay your bills."
I had a step dad that was just as petty. He would take 90 percent of every pay check I had because "bills" and then shame me for everything that I would buy with my remaining income. I was 18 when he started that. I couldn't move out because he was taking everything from me and my mom let him do it. I finally moved out to live with my ex husband when I was 21 and he still tried to take my paychecks. I stopped working for awhile and he tried getting my ex to pay him "because I still owed him for past expenses." He would make up supposed debts for me to pay. I told him to pound sand and refused to talk to my mom until she left him. Jamie reminds me of him so much.

Time and distance helped me appreciate the learning opportunity in living with that kind of person so that I can empathize with and try to help others that may be going through the same kinds of financial and emotional abuse. It's harder for people who are in those kinds of abusive situations to see it as abuse and get out. It took me a long time to even acknowledge that I'm a victim of abuse because from my point of view I wasn't getting physically hit so therefore it wasn't abuse. Psychological abuse is so much harder to break away from than physical abuse and in some ways it is far more damaging. I completely get why Britney is so afraid right now to do anything even though her dad has been removed. While that sounds nice on paper, there is going to be years of trying to untangle that web of fear that they put into you.

This house represented her childhood=biological attachment to the family= herself. I agree ! I’m from a city but we stayed in a tiny town in Wyoming and the lady at the hotel was SOOO happy when we said we were staying a few nights . She was like “OH I’m so excited we’re a tiny town but let me tell you there is all to do” I couldn’t imagine a place saying we don’t want anyone lol

I concur. I am from a small Kentucky town, there is a good ol bou system. No one wants to rock the boat, they turn an eye....and also a star athlete from the town....why, they could never do any wrong. All morality and merit is based on..."they work hard, they have a family, they've been a good member of the community"....so on.
It's awful. I love being from the country.....that mindset though is one of the reasons I moved away. I love the land, nature.....there are good folks.
However the minds are narrow, largely of bias, judging. In a small town and all you know depending which side of the coin you're on....that can make you damned for life or the king of it all. You can either be a no good, harmful person or the cream of the crop that can never do wrong....and if they might of, well, they were pushed to it....or it's a lie, a set up....so on.
I don't think California is good for Britt. It has it's own devil's....I am glad she left where she is from.
I wish for her a big beautiful piece of land to be private on....have fun, raise hell in the good way.....dirtbikes, fishing, campfires......music loud, a spacious home. Sunday drives on country roads. Then come to the city or Hollywood to handle business.
I think she could heal, grow and rediscover herself, rebrand or whatever she wants.
That's my wish for her....but it ain't about my wish, or anyone else's......it's about hers. May the lord shine down on her and illuminate this dark time of lies and abuse with the light of the truth.

Personally I like to see her move abroad where she won't be hounded by the paparazzi and she could live a more normal life. As another wonderful commentator stated, she could live abroad. Her level of notoriety will make it difficult to just fade into the collective. I wish for her an area that is responsible and respectful of what she has went through...and value that and give her what she deserves.

I would literally go through my worst struggles again to make Britney okay. Even when she does have control of her life again, her trauma she underwent in the public eye at the hands of her "family" and ppl around her will always be part of her. That's why he has fought so hard to stay in control and have Vivian constantly telling the world what a good daddy he was. He is such a Narcissist that He is more concerned about his reputation than the money. He doesn't want the truth of his abuse to come out. So far he has been able to sugar coat things using her mental instability. But once the forensic audits are done, this will show the world what his financial motives were and how he used her to gain financial benefits...he sold her into slavery. And mentally manipulated her like a Pump using her kids as the bait. So far the folks back home can sit back and blame it on Hollywood. But once the investigations, audits and depositions are done....and presented to the courts...well all fingers point to him because ultimately he was put in charge. And the responsibility is his to not allow it...much less participate in doing wrong himself. After the last hearing in court, he knows his ass is grass.

I can understand why her aunt waited until now to come forward, especially in regards to her abuse and the patterns she sees in him, too. His power is being taken away, he 1. can't harm others like her father did in his condition and without access to his team of abusers and 2. he can't afford to sue her (lol).
