Its hard for people to fight for something if it doesn't effect them directly. Elon isn't a single mother working 2 jobs with 4 kids and no benefits. Him and other celebrities are aware of this and even the homeless people they walk past everyday, but they don't care enough to fix it. Thats why most just show their face or donate. Great idea! One problem I’m having is that most of the people in my age bracket (53) get most of their news from 60 Minutes and don’t really know who Yang is. They also don’t seem to spend a lot of time on Facebook or other forms of social media. Most people my age also don’t understand the industrial fallout that our ever-growing technological advances will create. Those who do seem indifferent because we’re nearing the age of retirement. I do what I can but it’s tough being the only old dude who seems to get it.

I am hoping with all my heart.... I am 60 and working gigs because I am 60 and no one will give me a job! My rent has gone up $200 a month, but my income has not. I am still able to eat, rent, utilities ... But no car! I am so tired :(
The Yang Gang is not as devoted as other campaigns. This is what's screwing with Andrew's math. We may comment and back him up, but if we're not putting in the work and spreading the word, it's all for nothing.

He is absolutely right. I've seen us discouraged, beaten down and dispirited over the Iowa caucus. Are we seriously going to let Iowa kill this movement? Iowa, whose delegates are 1% worth. We have so many states that deserves to hear his message and his vision for a better economy. Remember where we started from. He was a nobody. He's no longer a nobody, but the future president of the United States. I've personally regret not doing enough so I'm planning on text banking and phone banking tomorrow (oh, I'm a Swede by the way). Imagine Yang at the inauguration and thousands with MATH hats on, watching him and his family represent hope, optimism, the future and a unified country. We stood with him when he was omitted from graphics, ridiculed, misinformed, ignored and we will continue to stand by him.

Sadly, here in the Midwest, people don’t seem to want to hear it. Most already claim to know who they’re voting for. Most are also all about Trump. Pulling people out of the Trump Slump to gravitate to a visionary like Yang is really hard to do!
I wasn't for this at first but I can see how this can help with homelessness in America.
This would help more then just homelessness. It would get the boot off our throats and allow us to actually start to shape the future without the fear of poverty or failure.
If those of us in our parents' homes, or in lousy cheap housing had a little extra cash to keep the bills paid & not have to worry... we could be starting businesses, saving up to move to better places, and getting started with our lives. You know, like people used to do before they even turned 20. Now no matter how hard we work, that stays an extremely distant dream.
Most people still aren't getting it and are still clinging to their old ways of thinking. Their first thought is immediately "socialism/communism" and it's getting freaking irritating.
Fortunately, more and more people of every generation are slowly starting to understand. Unfortunately, we may have to wait for those few frightened, stubborn, ignorant, and often old people to die off before everyone else gets it.
A lot of people will never get it. Their first thought will always be that UBI is "free money Soshulizm & un-American!" rather than a dividend on Automated Abundance as human labor is devalued. Their 2nd thought -- somewhat scarier -- is often racist, in that they'd rather see the "other" undeserving poor suffer than see everyone do well universally.

True, some businesses like Amazon will take away your benefits in response to a minimum wage hike. It won't hurt all states, but a minimum wage increase will hurt the businesses in states like Mississippi the most since there minimum is still at $7.25.

The trickle-up effect states that if you give money to the lowest classes, everyone benefits. UBI makes it so people don’t have to live in poverty while they have a job. By the trickle-up effect, the money given to low-earning, unemployed, and discouraged workers trickles up to everyone.
Yang’s campaign finance reform puts more power in the hands of the people. His idea of subsidizing donations means that the populace can now fund campaigns. Couple this with donation size limits, and now corporations can’t pressure campaigns financially.
The VAT tax has been implemented all over Europe, and has been very successful at raising revenue. It’s significant that so many developed nations have it.
Also, why do you vote for Trump, and why should we vote for him? This is an actual question, I’m trying to figure out why Trump supporters like him.

Andrew Yang - I tried to explain UBI to my dad today. It was hard to justify without getting into too many facts and figures. Making America Think Harder is also going to require a strategy to Make America Understand.

UBI is the freedom dividend! You get $1,000 per month for life if you want to opt-in. Opt-in meaning it's optional. It is payed for by a VAT at the point of sale, which will hit big tech.

I initiate with automation and data - tech companies paying 0 federal taxes - take revenue and put it back to communities in a form of dividend - increase buying power - stronger economy - money doesn't disappear, it circulates in our economy - economic growth - trickle up economy - compensates unrecognized work.

Great idea! One problem I’m having is that most of the people in my age bracket (53) get most of their news from 60 Minutes and don’t really know who Yang is. They also don’t seem to spend a lot of time on Facebook or other forms of social media.
Most people my age also don’t understand the industrial fallout that our ever-growing technological advances will create. Those who do seem indifferent because we’re nearing the age of retirement. I do what I can but it’s tough being the only old dude who seems to get it.
