I'm glad the picture perfect pantry is on it's way out. Ain't nobody got time for that!
For those unaware, Goodwill is Not a charity! It's a for profit business that mostly hires people with mental disabilities and games the system so they don't have to pay them minimum wage. They are taking advantage of vulnerable members of our communities For Profit! So if you can donate and shop at a different thrift store I highly recommend it, but I know in many communities they drove out any alternatives long ago. Goodwill is the Walmart of thrift stores, and that's not a compliment. 🙎🏻♀️
I stopped going to goodwill they overprice items they get for free I just give stuff on fb marketplace for free
I own a cleaning and organizing business. Every client I have requests that I do not donate their items to goodwill. You are so right. There are others in my area, such as waterfront mission, and many of their employees go through things donated and take home and sell on Ebay...etc...so I take their things to thrift stores that truly help the local community, or donate to those I know are in need of the items.
I am going to try digital planning.love your video.
Three cheers for less focus on aesthetics. My kitchen cupboards are just fine being neat but not matchy matchy. I will no longer stress about having them look perfect. Glad to see this trend.
Yes!! As long as your cabinets work well for you, they don’t have to be perfect. And if you find that you’re missing that look later on, it’s always fine to upgrade a little at a time. That way you don’t feel the pressure to change it all at once but still get to make a fun aesthetic addition. 🥰
I just subscribed to your channel, I am so loving how you present things. And you are so right about all other the shifts in storage. I have been doing that for several years now. In 2004 we moved from a 3600 sq ft house in the DC area. To a small town in northeast Michigan to a 1800 sq ft cottage in the woods. A mile from Lake Huron. It is so delightful! I still am down sizing. The kids are out of the home now. So I am divesting the house and us for our sanity! I am delight to see more reasonable work toward home management , and not so plastic. Thank you for your input!
Thrilled to have you as a subscriber, CynD! Your home sounds perfect, and you'll have so much fun organizing it now.
Love the no plastic theme.
Thanks for focusing on being realistic with our organizing. Aesthetic appeal is important too, but it’s useless if it’s not practical.
Very true! Learning how to create systems and maintain your stuff comes first, then making the storage solutions look pretty comes afterward. 🙌🏼
Hi Lela!
Very happy with bamboo and nature frendly materials. And even happier that "rainbow" situation is geting less popular. Can not wait that ASMR restocking wil also leave us, maybe next year?😂🙏
Agree with you so much! And the ASMR long nails tapping plastic bins and glass bottles makes my teeth hurt 😂😂😂
@@lelaburris 🤣🤣🤣
The nails! Good God, the nails! I will be very happy for that trend to go to the dumpster.
Love the focus on “function” over “IG-ready” and moving away from plastics containers (although they are still IMHO the best solution in certain situations - as I put my house back together after a broken-pipe flood, I wish more of my “stuff” stored on the floors of my closets, etc. had been in plastic bins - wood or water hyacinth wouldn’t have helped and would have molded like everything else). We did just set up a charging station in our den and I love it! No more hunting for cords or random things charging all over the place! Great content!
Glaf this was helpful for you and best of luck rebuilding!
Oh Lela! I’m here for this! All that esthetic organizing is so beautiful but not realistic for me!
Such a needed change!!
Totally agree. It’s so visually appealing but not always practical. Plus when things look too curated, the space feels more like a showpiece than a home.
Great video.
When you donate, please don’t krap. Someone has to sort through and dispose of the krap. It isn’t right. Get rid of what is dirty or useable.
Such a great video Lela! Sharing with all my friends and family.
Just found your channel! Really like it and appreciate the realness in organization!
Welcome! I'm glad you're here and thanks for stopping by.
Hooray for less plastic! I have been appalled by the number of plastic organizers being used. I stick to wood, glass, and second-hand baskets for my organizing.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I bought a bread box for the kitchen that houses the charging station.
Your voice reminds me of the narrator from Alux so much! 😂 Thanks for the informative video!
I am very happy to hear that plastic containers are not as popular! I would much rather use something made from bamboo or glass!
The problem with glass is its weight.
Love the bed frame. Where did you get it from??? Thxs❣️
Thank you! It’s from Castlery and it has been so great! Here’s the one we have: rstyle.me/+VBwo-lX-r-DiUKDXYjzbfw
Unfortunately, I need those clear plastic containers bc I have TBI and have to see what I have. I also have other problems that compromise my movement so having to search for things just will result in not using it bc I won’t have the energy to search and sometimes just the idea of wondering if what I need is there or not just creates so much anxiety that it result in no movement at all. It literally took me over a decade to give into the idea I have to rely on those things.
One thing you'll notice pretty quickly on my channel is that I'm all for accessibility, so if the plastic containers save a trip to the shelf to search, that's still being Organized-ish. Congrats on finding the best system for you after a year of experimenting!
GOODbye to everything needing to be aesthetic! I mean I like a neat, tidy, pretty space but everything doesn't have to be so beige to achieve that. I have always and will always be a fan of woven baskets and wood over plastic.
Next trend will be in the USA all new built homes will be built with kitchens that are modular and you can take them to your next home. They do that over in Europe.
Honestly that is so smart! Sounds like Europe has it right on that. I would love to be able to take the whole kitchen to a new house. Thanks for sharing that!!
I bought my shampoo and conditioner because the containers looked great in my bathroom. Then I just keep refilling them
