I know this video is almost a year old now but, please keep this series going. I am doing the expanded reading order myself, and it's so refreshing to feel like there is someone on the journey to the tower with me. Thank you!
Hey Michael! Thanks for the lovely comment. I'll definitely continue with the reviews. I plan on reaching the dark tower by the end of this year. I'm taking October off to read and review classic horror but I'll be back with Stephen King in about just over a week.
I've been to the tower twice now. Once young and now again at middle age. I hope to be lucky enough to go a third time in my golden years. I enjoy your reviews and your level of engagement. I can't talk to my wife or friends about the series or books in general. They simply are not interested and look at me like my head is on backwards when I talk about what I've read. It's great to see someone enjoying the series. Now, I know I'm not crazy or at least I'm not crazy alone. Keep up the good work. I rarely subscribe and never comment until I found your channel. I'm grabbing some new ideas on stuff to read from your other reviews. Also, just found out about your audio books, so I'm going to check out one of those in the near future. I've been looking into audio books to see if I can expand my reading time. Now I got extra incentive, supporting a content creator that is spreading the good word and reading (Showing it to be as fun and exciting). I hope this channel keeps growing and blows up. You deserve it mate!
Thank you very much for the really nice comment mate. Yeah I think it's normal for readers to feel a little bit isolated when it comes to their interests. I have it even myself. I'll be talking to my wife about a book and, understandably, she has no context for what I'm saying and I'll notice her kind of tuning out haha. It's the same when she tells me about some tv show I don't watch. It's hard to relate sometimes even if we try. That's why I set up this channel to find my tribe of people. So glad you like the videos mate.
I'm sure you caught it by now but the girl who Jack hits with the brick I believe is Odetta before Detta exists and he pushed her onto the tracks later in life.
You're getting me all pumped up to take my second trip to the Tower. I got all worked up to take it 6 months ago but the Gorg fascinated me and the Abalah took me. It's time, here and now!
This channel is incredible, so glad I came across it. I'm just getting to The Wolves of the Calla and I'm already looking forward to watching the review!
@paperjack journeys I've read the books twice and listened to the audio version once. I didn't have time to read again right now and I'm really digging your reviews so far. I love this book so much. Meeting and really just becoming acquainted with the ka-tet.
Hey! I've just finished this book today and I loved this video!! I love your excitement throughout, that was exactly how I was too!! I was so shocked when the pusher was the same dude who pushed Odetta. He also threw a brick at Odetta as a child, not killing her tho! She was in a coma and I believe that's what started her illness. Great video, so thanks again! You've earnt a subscriber and I'm hoping you've done more King videos 😊
Hey there! Oh my goodness, thank you so much for subscribing and for the amazing feedback! 😊 I'm thrilled to hear you finished the book and that you could relate to my excitement throughout the video. This series just has a way of pulling you in, doesn't it? You're absolutely right about the Pusher and his earlier encounter with Odetta! I don't think I made that connection for some reason when I first read it. Didn't realise that the little girl was her for some reason! -such a twisted and interconnected backstory. Stephen King is a master at weaving intricate relationships between his characters, and those details make the story so much richer. I've got plenty more King videos in the pipeline, so stay tuned for those! Your enthusiasm and thoughtful insights make this all the more worthwhile for me, and I'm looking forward to sharing more bookish excitement with you!
@@PaperbackJourneys oh my gosh, thank you for taking the time to reply! You have the exact same energy as me whilst reading the books and it is bloody fabulous! King's story telling is just outstanding and I have nearly finished book 4 - very heartbreaking. Looking forward to watching your review after :D I would love to one day do a video about my King journey but It just seems a but scary right now so I will continue watching your videos :D I love how you will read a part of the book and then review it in parts. It is great :) Thank you again for your fabulous content and keep an eye out for my videos. P.S your accent makes these videos even greater!!
Keep going, mate!Dig the style and the reviews! Really glad I found this channel so early in my journey to the tower(currently reading eyes of the dragon).
Just finished the book yesterday and this is a great review. Definitely agree about the step up from the first book and am looking forward to continuing with the series
Hey! I'm so glad you enjoyed the review and finished the book! "The Drawing of the Three" really does take things to the next level, doesn't it? It's amazing how King manages to expand on the world, deepen the characters, and ratchet up the stakes all in one go. I'm excited you're planning to continue with the series; you're in for quite the journey.
Hey man, love your series so far. I've read all the books and several (many) other King books, although not all 20+ directly connected to the Towerverse. Some day all King's books are connected. I'm excited for your journey. The Stand is one of my all time favorite books! One thing to point out is that Roland dreams of "Susan" - not "Susannah". It will be easier to keep straight as you learn the characters. Long days and pleasant nights.
@PaperbackJourneys I read The Stand while I was locked up soon after covid had started. I would not recommend that reading experience, though it sure is memorable. At least I had the thought that the Walking Man would come let me out if things got real bad.
@@PaperbackJourneys for real though, did you ever daydream about the reaction to sloppy joes, mountain dew, chico stick, etc? I always wanted to be like " My MAN! You like Tuna? " Time travel is always a fun thought process, but this was the first time I imagined being the host to the outer-dimensional visitor. They don't even know about trampolines yet ...
I love watching you read it for the first time. It just keeps getting wilder and weirder the first 3 books, the 3rd just gets so ridiculous I love it. I'm on my first read through, on book 4 now and it seems to have calmed down a bit.
Yeah Wizard and Glass seems to be more of a backstory kind of book right? Still interesting though. How are you liking it? I'm so glad you like the videos. I'm hoping to finish the series very soon.
Another entertaining review. I just listened to The Mist, Rose Madder, Desperation, and The Regulators based on your list. While they are all good books, they are very loosely tied to the Dark Tower series, really The Mist I didn't see any tie in at all, but since you bought them read them, but I don't think they are necessary to the "extended" Dark Tower series
Love your energy ! The lighter.... it’s an old western "comics" cliché... it may have its place here... Hope you’ll get more and more followers here, see you next time ! :)
Thanks for this mate. Just finished today and was looking forward to your recap to process things. What a weird book, but for sure better than the Gunslinger. Will continue my journey to the Dark Tower! What's your favorite one out of curiosity?
Man this series is so weird in general. You think it can't get more bizarre and it keeps getting stranger but eventually I just decided to go with it haha. The Drawing of the Three is ONE of my favourites in the series. I also liked Wolves of the Calla and The Waste Lands. The final book was emotional too for lots of reasons.
@10:30 Stephen King does suffering so well mate that when the character finally gets relief you feel it,Polly's Arthritis in Needful Things,a blocked uretha in the Green Mile making taking a pee a painful nightmare,um Misery,a character's shoulders slowly being pulled out off socket for days after her husband handcuffs her to the headboard then dies of a heart attack.
The Drawing of the Three is my absolute favorite in the Dark Tower series. Oddetta is THE BEST and most fun to read about to me. I remember quoting her forever after reading the first time.

Yeah I guess it just comes down to what you like. The Gunslinger was moody and dark and kind of dreamlike. I enjoyed it even more on my second time reading it.
This channel is criminally underrated
