When you said “I approached some of the best builders in my area” 😂 How could you not know how to swap out a new air unit and be flying FPV this day and age!? Rad video though!
Good question… I’m a cinematographer first not a builder. First of all. I do know how to change out motors and air units if needed but there were a couple things I’m glad I had them for when it comes to switching out the unit. On the specific quote I had to stand off‘s were too tight so they did it fit the camera automatically so we had to design it and 3-D prints a mount for the camera that would reduce micro vibrations. Also we had to re-pin the coax cable so we would properly line up with the flight controller because the power lied was lined up incorrectly for the certain type of flight controller that was on the quad. And the back up quad that I had needed to be fully built from the ground up and I was leaving in one day so it’s better to consult with people that really know what they’re doing
@@NathanMcBride can’t wait. I’ve seen the difference and it’s definitely amazing . I get so much break up and analog already cost me a quad got horrible breakup and a light pole magically appeared from no where .
Dude we need a tutorial on your quad and settings. I got the nazgul evoque f5 and it keeps disconnecting midflight forcing me to drop it from the sky so I don't lose it. I end up damaging my drone and gopro
So I’m actually coming out with a video showing the difference between the gopro footage and the air unit so I wanted to compare the two. And always good to have a backup. Low Lens angles allow for more control in certain scenarios. Depending on the situation I will have different lens angles
Incredible review and flying! I think I've watched every review of the O3 Air Unit, and this is, by far, the best. What would you estimate for the ranges that you were getting? Thanks for the vid.

I’m more cinema/landscape cruises and dives around the coastlines on Cornwall rather than hectic bando freestyle (but that could change with my skills improving? A 5 inch seems like it’ll take more of a beating and will carry my action 3 easier, but whoop seems safer as new as I won’t have the ‘oh shit’ button or rth, which I’m of course used to having as failsafe with the fpv and Avata. I almost spent nearly £300 on eBay for a refurbishment of the big dji fpv controller, the phantom looking black one, literally last week, as was told it’s better to get that on its own first, but I’m so glad I didn’t now this option is available. One controller and goggles that I already own, being compatible for multiple different kwads, from dji fpv to Nazgûl evoque or something is so cool. What would guys at your level say is best step forward coming from manual mode Avata and dji fpv. A whoop, a 5, or the 7? @@NathanMcBride doesn’t this also turn the video feed to the goggles in the same mode? Making it possible harder to fly in say, darker areas with camera not adjusting for shutter/iso etc?
@@ArcticriderFPV yes that is the disadvantage to having manual controls within the goggles. However there is quite good dynamic range in the goggles that helps you see the details within the shadows. Nathan I do have one or two questions. I've seen footage of people using the Tango 2 with the new O3, but I thought the new system was only compatible with the DJI FPV RC 2. Would I be able to use, say, my Tango 2 and still have telemetry and OSD on my goggles? probably not but worth asking anyways. The new O3's range is good, I know you mentioned it and gave an example, but the original air unite never had a problem flying from the highest points or even just flying long distance over 300-400 feet high, so I bet the new one is even better. However, how about those proximity flies in irregular landscapes like mountains or forests, would you say the new O3 is considerable improved for someone who don’t care at all about image quality but signal reliability and long range capabilities?
Yes you can use other remotes not just DJI’s. The penetration is better but not perfect. It’s all dependent on your surroundings so always be careful and mindful of where you are and what your signal levels are
I think the GoPro still provides higher dynamic range and the option to lower sharpness. However the redundancy that an air unit plus an action camera gives is also very nice considering the action camera sometimes has errors that you can’t catch until the flight is done

yeah so I flew 2 different quads for this video. One 5 inch made by Rebel mini quads and 1 nazgul from Iflight. Both were great options. I would say Rebel mini quads was a much more simple build but flys great. and nazgul has super nice flashy drone great for long range cinematic
The Rebel Mini Quads had a rush stack
@@NathanMcBride Have you ever tried GepRc Mark 5? how does it compare to both? im using dji fpv but got too much jelly and vibration on the video, so im opting for this route :)
