Great video! The leyzne pump I've used for fatbiking but don't now after have problems with the screw on valve flash freezing to the valve core while inflating. Then when you unscrew the pump off the valve it pulls the valve core out with it, dumping a load of air in the process. Add cold hands and it's a drag. Only clip on pump heads for me during cold weather.
Thanks for sharing :) yes, can be finicky- that’s why I use the “push on” adapter that I mention in the video… you don’t have to screw it on… so much faster and easier with gloves/ no chance to unthread the core, etc- worked like a charm on Iditarod…
Thanks man. You just saved me a bunch of time and money by avoiding the old "trial and error" routine on a bunch of stuff. Got my fat bike in the spring so this will be my first winter with it. Sadly in Southern Ontario we have no snow at the moment and it's not looking promising in the coming weeks ☹.
Military surplus cold weather trigger finger gloves or the extreme cold weather gloves are inexpensive and very effective. They have replaceable wool liners, finger or mitten style liners are available. These are useful for those conditions where nothing else suffices.
7:23 I love the Lezyne pump too! Adding the extra adapter is clutch, it makes the pump up super easy. I also wrap my spare tape around it great hack. Side note: I didn’t know how to pronounce Lezyne until I met the Lezyne team at Sea Otter in 2016, they say “Lezyne” like “Design”.
Gloves and mitts - for cold weather I do like HESTRA Mitts. Come in various types but they also have removable wool inners so you can carry a spare set incase they get wet.
Hestra 👍 I use the heli mitt / ones with independent index finger for ski/snowboard… +1 on the removable liner… for Iditarod I took the expedition mitts and shells 🤙
Good List. Socks are a must. I use Simms Exstreem wader socks-up to the knee length and warm. . On the other list you have I have the redshift seat post on my Fatbike If I get bouncy it is nice to have. I also have the same fenix light and it is nice and bright
Wow!!! Great ideas and I need one of each. Well maybe I'll break up my list into two parts. Got the studs on just because I've never used them. Thanks for another well done video. Great format. Take care, Al
Good to see what your doing in cold dry conditions. For me I mostly have Cold wet sorted as we never get cold dry other than for 5 minutes once a year maybe and then the entire country grinds to a halt.
Great suggestions! Thanks for putting this out there. I really like that lifting strap. I could see that being a useful item on the bike packing bike as well as I’ll always looking for the best way to lift a loaded bike over large obstacles.
Great Video as always Alan. Over here in the UK we go fat 365. Just love the fatness. So much I make my own. Keep it going Alan. Have a great Christmas man.
i found a nice pair of columbia insulated hiking shoes that can fit into my pedal toe straps. im weird. but i needed insulated shoes that can fit into pedal toe straps for my fat bike. ive had 3 rides this year at -15c and its just crazy cold in my nose and sinuses after an hour,. need a scarf so badly. my goggles freeze over after 15 minutes of hillclimbing.
thanks for sharing!! I have a buff that's cut in half that I slide over my nose, cheeks, and ears... does wonders... I also use a 45nrth baklava balaclava that has a nose cover... I can keep my goggles/sunglasses from fogging up with both of these... but takes some trial and error/finesse... anyhoo, keep at it!!
This confirms that Revelate is not selling their pogies this year. Huge bummer. I hope they bring them back next year. It's a good thing that we currently have warmer winter here up in Canada.
Cold boots - hard to get the Nrth 45 boots in the UK so without cleat fitting went for the … SALOMON Toundra Forces Cswp … These are rated to -40 C comfort limit and extreme -75 C and were used by an Iditarod rider a few years ago with success. Excellent for walking as my Iditarod buddy had to for 48 hour stretch so tick the box.
Thanks Alan, you have the most informative fat biking channel on RUclips!
Thanks for the kind words :) ride on!
Cutting down your own Christmas tree, what a dream ! Great video again, all good ideas
Happy holidays! Thanks for watching :)
I want that yellow beanie !
Come and get it 🙌
Love the Das Optics glasses! So cool. And... I ride the Double Shot pedals as well. Love them.
Thanks for sharing :) Ride on 🤙
Definitely Dogwood Designs pogies for the win. Living in Fairbanks, AK, these are key to keeping hands warm in very cold temps! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching and commenting :) I also love her overboots! Ride on 🤙

Yeah, that’s funny- I’ve met the Lezyne “design” guys too… and I still mess up the pronunciation all the time!! 😂 ride on!
Vacuum insulated Bivo water bottles fit in a standard bottle cage, are pretty lightweight, and the drinking nozzle works really well.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Always Great and Informative And Entertaining :)
Thanks 🙏

Thanks for watching and sharing! Sounds like some great socks, ill have to check em out 🤙 Ride on :)
Darn Tough socks are a bit too narrow for my feet, but they certainly have a warrantee that no one else can compete with.
Bummer :( I’ve also recently started enjoying farm to feet- not quite as constricting as darn tough… ride on!
Some great ideas there Alan, top stuff!
Thanks for watching, much appreciated :)
