I upgraded my 4L65E with your kit and it's been taking a beating for 2 years with no issues. Looking at a truck with this trans and will probably upgrade!
Very good presentation. I'm running a VE Commodore Calais-V with an LS3 416ci stroker that has been built from scratch with fully forged internals and set up to run comfortably at 7,200 hence a bit of stress on my 6L80E trans. Not big power compared to forced induction now days but gets worked hard. I'm on my second brand new trans and have also had 2 rebuilds as well and I over-service it, plus has a couple of extra dedicated fan mount coolers/radiators to keep temps down. It does a fair bit of high speed enduro work. Looks like I may be getting a fair diversity of products from Sonax - only prob is that I live in Brisbane Australia. Thanks for taking the time and posting.😁

I'm in the process of installing your zip kit and upgraded apply piston in my 6l80, so far everything has been straight forward. Need a little clarification on step 1a. of the zip kit. "Drop one Sonnax 1/8" aluminum checkball into OE orificed cup plug. Drive checkball into cup plug with appropriately sized punch. Stake cup plug to prevent checkball displacement." boring the new oriface is no problem, and I understand driving the checkball down into the cup... but what is meant by "stake cup plug"? What am I staking it with? What exactly am I supposed to do here? thanks in advance.

I bought a 2018 LT1 Gen V with a 6L80 4x4 Z-71 to go in a 2x4 S-10. What is needed to convert the transmission to 2x4? I am being told I need to change the shaft out to the 2x4 shaft!

Is the boost valve in the zip kit the same as the line pressure booster kit? It appears the zip kit doesn't have the upgraded spring. Can that spring be purchased separately?
Hi GWRus77, Zip Kits are designed to restore OE operation and pressure curves. The line booster on the other hand is meant as a performance upgrade for firmer-than-OE shifts, and thus uses an increased ratio boost valve assembly and elevated PR valve spring. So no, these are not the same. You can certainly use the two kits together, but you would need to purchase both and just disregard the boost valve assembly in the Zip Kit. Hope that helps, thanks!

It may be a 4l60e, but some applications have the 4l80e. I'd call the dealer with a vin# and they'll tell you. Heavier duty applications have the 4l80e or even the 4l90e. If you have the 4l80e, get the 4l90e torque converter or an updated 4l80e torque converter. 4l90e converter is stronger and just mount using the stock 3 bolts and leave to other bolt holes open.

Not only removed, but should be replaced with an updated torque converter on the 6l80. The torque converter is the Achilles heel of the transmission. Get that swapped out if it's the stock torque converter before it destroys the transmission!
