    I am really happy people like you are shedding more light on the transmission rebuilding industry today.

      I was taught it to be held a great secret, unfortunately I don't believe that way. I think sometimes people are capable of more than they think they are, having a little help might just get more ppl interested in this industry. Builders and techs are getting harder and harder to find.

    I rebuilt and installed a zip kit in my 6L80 two weeks ago. I should have waited to see how you do it. My transmission now shifts better than it ever did, I know because I bought the truck new. My transmission failed at 69,000 mi. The torque converter started slipping in lock up. I knew enough to quit driving it immediately to prevent pump damage. My symptoms were check engine light and some delayed upshifting. Thanks for your video's.

      Absolutely. That's awesome to here you did yours they are one of my favorites to build in any application.

      So did you just install this kit and replace the torque converter or a whole rebuild

    • @expressautotransmissiondav4207
      @expressautotransmissiondav4207  3 года назад

      It was a total rebuild we were doing. We only do complete rebuilds. I've know other shops to just install a converter and vb and roll the dice but I don't think that's right for them or the customer.

      @@james10739 I also replaced clutches , bonded molded pistons, bushings, Techm pressure film's, new vane pump, and bypassed the thermostat on the cooler lines. Also upgraded with sonnax 1234 billet piston and 456 apply piston kit. All parts and supplies I used came to a little over $1400

    I have the same issue, and I just got the new bell house but I'm on a limited income so i can't get a new stator, and I contacted a machinist and he's not comfortable doing it so I'm gonna lap it starting at 600 all the way to 3000

    Thanks for taking the time to shoot these. I have been a professional tech for over 30 years now. I recently decided to see how well I can get at the transmission work. The first year was quite the learning curve! The videos help more than you may think. I have rebuilt close to 50 units now, some the same, some not. Spent a small fortune on tools too! I know there is still a lot to learn but I am getting much more confident and comfortable with every project. Looking forward to getting a lathe of my own and learning to recondition what parts I can. Are you rebuilding any of your torque converters in house? The price point seems to be the most competitive part of doing a rebuild as far as I have seen. Most customers of course want to spend as little as possible so finding ways to cut costs is important. Thanks again for taking the time.

    I just watched another video where they had a larger outer spring a smaller inner spring. Is the smaller spring not necessary because it looks like it is meant to keep the black valve from falling out of the metal boost piece.

    So before you machine that pump you gotta pull out that locator dowel pin. Usually those don't come out without a fight and getting ruined so what do you replace them with?

    I just had my 6l80 rebuilt and had the guy install a zip kit and it’s worse then it was when I dropped it off… goes forward in reverse went from 1-2 ok then stalled for a minute and then slammed into 3rd extremely hard. This was the first test drive just down my street. So he comes over the following weekend and installs another valve body. (Guessing the problem) now that it’s changed it still doesn’t have reverse and won’t change gears at all.. I’m about to pull it out today and take it back but I’m curious to know if he didn’t install the zip kit right would it behave like this. Or what could be the problem? I pay 3k for this rebuild and I’m not expecting it this way at all

    do you ever put that high pressure (purple) spring in the 6l80 that sonnax makes for a daily driver truck that occasionally tows? Looking to get my 6L80e rebuilt with the new 1234 piston and 456 piston from sonnax plus the zip kit and a torque converter. Just don't know if I need that spring if I'm not doing a race truck build. Any other parts you guys recommend?

    Sir, can I install Sonnax high-performance pump slide spring 104534-HD for 100% STOCK GM 6L80? 2011 camaro SS. The Sonnax spring is stiffer than OE and is able to hold the pump slide in a maximum-volume position, despite increased pressure and high engine speed in performance applications.

      @@expressautotransmissiondav4207 As far as I know, the main problem in the valve body is not the regulators, since they are made of anodized steel, but the aluminum body of the block itself. There worn channels in which regulators operate ... Friction crumb in the oil leads to boring of aluminum channels. Sonnax kits are good, but do not solve the problem....It's my opinion

    What state are you in? I'm leaving Florida going back to Michigan and I need a rebuild. The only person I know and trust retired two years ago. My 09 Yukon Denali 6.2 was just down for almost six months and kind of destroyed my entire plan and business. It's ok, I keep going and nothing will stop me. I'd love to have my trans rebuild and not have to worry about it afterward. You obviously know your s**t. I don't mind driving. Iv been traveling for work the last three years since I left Michigan. Could you help any info would be greatly appreciated.
