    I did this to my opel vectra C 1.9cdti 150hp about three years ago. And yes it was the best option removing the four windows and blanking out the top holes on the manfold. Allso cleaning all the carbom build up that it had. EGR valve, throtle body, and sensor. Now it drives so good again. Thanks for up loading Mr......Richi .....Islas....canarias....

    This is going to sound weird. I have never removed and plugged swirl flaps.Changed a lot of inlet manifolds yes, MB, BMW, Chrysler, Opel and so forth. I have suggested it to clients and to my surprise they always go with the manifold. Normally they bite 25 cents in half and I even tell them that the car will drive the same. Strange world. Nice one Luis.

    Hi love all the videos. Can I ask a question please. Removing the inlet manifold from the astra H the threaded bar that holds the fuel pump on. You had to remove one of these threaded bar to remove the manifold. You put two nuts onto the bar to then get a socket on to remove. Can you tell me what size the nuts were as I'm considering doing this same work to my astra H

Iv just subscribed to your channal . Question If you delete the swell flaps will it not pass mot emissions test ? What stuff did you use to clean carbon out of intake ? Thanks lee

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  2 года назад +1

      The flaps will make a negligible difference on the emissions... you don't need to worry...
      I first scrape the carbon away...
      And then use diluent with rags, brushes, etc...
      Diluent can eat certain plastics, so you need to be careful...
      There is other cleaning substances, like dgreaser etc... if you want to try those...

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  2 года назад +1

    • @mr.t2585
      @mr.t2585 2 года назад +2

      You will find this flaps in all 16v engines that are turbocharged. As you know 8v engines have better acceleration in lower revs. So with this flaps ecu is closing one port in inlet manifold to improve accel from lower revs. This is closed until 800- 1800-2000rpm range. With this blanked car will slower accelerate but will not be so noticable. Real fix will be to buy new manifold or flap rebuild kit.

    Coincidence, had same code on one last week. It had eaten it's flaps. Code only appeared after what was left of flaps removed and flaps were mapped out of ECU. Obviously not done quite right.
    On another note, could I ask if you have done a video comparing your 908 v 608 with regards to just their diagnostic functionality. It's getting to the time when I could do with another machine but maybe the 608 might be a better option with regards to the extra immo functionality. As far as I can tell the 908 has ECU programming/updating whereas the 608 doesn't 🤷

      The engine will loose torque in low revs. I don't know how much it will be. The reason for the swirl flaps is that in lower revs the lenght of intake manifold needs to be shorter than in higher revs. This is achieved with the flaps. Without the flaps it will be only longer manifold option available through the whole rev spectrum.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  2 года назад +2

      Not quite like that... but yes...
      The difference in torque is negligible...

    If you not eliminate PCV to turbo and EGR, the result is the same, all dirty.

      @@LMAutoRepairs that light that everyone says is an engine light is actually to say theres a fault in the exhaust/emmisions side.
      An engine light has a spanner or electrical spark symbol

      In both of my Saab Tid, my Alfa Giulietta JTDM, my lads 206 and his 5 series, that's the Engine Management Light (EML). It is described in the manuals and owners handbooks in the manual. There is, on some vehicles, an exhaust warning for the DPF, but that is definitely the EML lit up in this video. @@ninetofivegirl5545
