  • This is a new take on a proven classic.By using an offset worm hook I have made a totally weedless version of Jack Gartside's classic Gurgler top water fly. Tie them in a range of sizes and colours totarget any species that likes heavy weed and grass, from bass, to redfish, jacks and snakehead. It's a killer.

Love it. I knew Jack Gartside and he would approve of the adaptions.

redshaftedflicker thanks man! I've been tweaking it since the video but it's a killer. Hope you get a bunch of mossy bites on it.

I finally subscribed. I really like the way you make it look so simple. I'm sure it is for experienced tyers? But I'm not very good at it. I gotta try it though.

joe orefice I add it as I feel more confident with baitfish that have eyes, it's generally much quicker to add than in the video because of not reaching around the camera. But of course, if you are tying your own tie them how you like

+Scott Elder Hi Scott, for snakehead in the heavy weed I use 8-10 and 6-8 for bass. Other wise just match it to the fish. Hope you can get some fish on this one.

Like the idea but that looks like a fouling mess

What's to foul? The hair is held to the foam with the resin and is too short to wrap on the hook.
I've been using these for years with good results for bass and snakehead - it never fouls

I concur. Zero fouling, and I don’t use the UV glue on the buck tail.
