    I am so glad to see the large citizen park! Too many Cities Skylines players just think about the "average" citizens; it warms my heart to see someone remembered the large citizens in their city.

    • @davidroddini1512
      @davidroddini1512 2 года назад +3

      The establishment of this park was likely funded by wealthy philanthropist Maximillian Bigass; in memory of his dearly departed wife Bertha, who was a tireless advocate for greater sensitivity towards the special needs of "large" people.

    It seems like it would be a great place to live in with the access to parks and public transportation, but in some places the amenities of shops and education are a little far. However, I do love the styling and architecture! It gives a great feel and could just imagine the smell of grass and stuff.

  • @Matthew-od2zl

    Yes, this would be an outstanding neighbourhood to live in and would be very much liveable. Being able to look out at the park or the fields would be stunning.
    I don't know if it would be possible in your vanilla playthrough but a suggestion for another city would be to have a theatre area. Particularly if was inspired by the west end or Broadway. I think it would add a lot of character to a city. :)

    Amenities within walking distance ✅
    Transit access ✅
    Appropriate road Layout ⚠
    Suggestion: Downgrade most of the arterial roads since they get very little usage and would be the perfect place for someone to go speeding at 200mph on an arterial road. But most of the roads in the neighbourhood are appropriately sized.
    Cycling Network ❌
    Suggestion: Add bike lanes to the two main roads going through the middle of the neighbourhood, or maybe a bike path through the park. Then extend that to the office park.
    Walkability ⚠
    Suggestion: More Mixed land use
    Land use ⚠
    Suggestion: Try to bring more commercial and office into the neighbourhood, perhaps integrate it with the park?

  • @victormn47

    I think it's very liveable, but you would almost need a car because of how much distance on average there is to shops. The density is quite low because of how much space is allocated to parks. Parks are great but very expensive. In real life a city like this would have a deficit in spending. The tax revenues from those properties would not be efficient compared to the amount of roads and parks that need to be built and maintained.

    • @gumbyshrimp2606
      @gumbyshrimp2606 2 года назад +1

      That’s why there’s tram stops everywhere. Also these are still semi rural areas, so having the suburbs be made of dense housing is much preferred to other types of suburbia

    • @victormn47
      @victormn47 2 года назад +1

      @@gumbyshrimp2606 That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that the ratio of tax earning properties (houses, commercial, industrial, farmland) to tax costing properties (public transport, public services, roads, parks) is off. A city like this in the real world would be a massive cost to any country. Even if the property values would be super high and the people in the city would be super rich, all that undeveloped land would be a massive opportunity cost. The park land would be worth too much compared to how little it is used (due to the low density). The trams are too expensive compared to how few people are using it (think of how many kilometers of rail has to cover so few people). Probably the tram often runs empty. It's just an inefficient pretty city is all I'm saying. However, it is neatly designed, i'll give him that. I enjoy the videos and watch almost all of them.

    As it’s a European city, I would love to see an “Old Town” neighbourhood! It would be interesting to see how you can build that in vanilla CS

    • @HarrowKrodarius
      @HarrowKrodarius 2 года назад +3

      I would say that it wouldn't really be possible due to the limited assets that look European. But it might be, However in vanilla CS I felt always limited by what I could do myself as you are forced to focus from the start to more of a car dependent city, unlike Many EU cities like Amsterdam. For example you can't really build a city like Amsterdam in Cities to perfection purely because I think you can't zone on pedestrian paths without mods it will be far too difficult to make an EU city. Sadly vanilla CS is too car centric because it was easier to make that way. I can honestly say it is easier to recreate the city of Rotterdam then any other city in the Netherlands. Purely because after the Germans had bombed it in WW2 it was rebuild to be car centric and it immediately also served as proof that this concept doesn't make good cities and Rotterdam is slowly becoming more walkable. Because there was too much traffic because people didn't want to walk or couldn't walk to places feeling safe, this is why many people in LA even if it is 20 minutes away which is a walkable distance an no reason to take a car because after 5 minutes of walking you will feel like you are toying with you life trying to walk to a destination. Vanilla CS in my opinion teaches people the wrong way of city planning aka car-centric instead of focusing of livability.
      look at this Street view of Amsterdam, most of this is pedestrian with exemptions. this is the inner city btw.
      www.google.com/maps/@52.3748725,4.8940991,3a,75y,34.69h,99.61t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1szTNhs_ei0pMmn4fbHVupYw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192
      EDIT: I recommend you streetview Amsterdam and Rotterdam and see the differences

    • @raymaa1223
      @raymaa1223 2 года назад

      @@HarrowKrodarius I went to the Netherlands last year and I visited Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Indeed, there’s a big difference between these two cities, you’re totally right.
      When I asked Imperatur to make a European old town, it was more of a challenge, because I know that he’s really good at making incredible things despite the limitations of vanilla CS
