    I’ve been using this exercise for about a year now. Im a 70 yr old psychologist who works 40+ hours weekly. I’ve been seeing gains on this exercise of late. Where I used to do it occasionally, it’s more my go to conditioning cardio exercise now. With limited time, this seems to do the trick.
    I also walk and golf. And the two of these plus push ups, and core/leg work exercises, are good all round conditioners/strengtheners.
    Thanks for your video.
    Steve B.

    This move is deceptively simple, but it is effective.
    Saw a variation of this, and is my preferred way.
    The dumbbells are taken from floor level to full overhead extension, and given a 1/4 to 1/2 twist outward from the shoulder to full extension.
    Saw ir in a Men's Health magazine, and recall that this version was attributed to Arnold Schwarzenegger. But that part of my memory may be faulty.
    But the move is quite effective.

      i would look forward to seeing topics like dumbbell workouts covered. workouts that can be done in front of the mirror. workouts that can be done quickly and maybe with even 1 dumbbell. toning arms and shoulders are 2 important areas that i personally want to strengthen. all the while working the core as well. sorry, is that impossible to do?

    • @TacticalWorkouts
      @TacticalWorkouts  8 лет назад +1

      +Javy C Great suggestions. And I can help you. What you're asking is NOT impossible... in fact I've created a bodyweight-only strength system, with exact sets and reps for every exercise. Workouts are fast and efficient. Much focus on shoulder strengthening. Please note that "toning" (the ability to see your muscles through your skin) is 80-90% nutrition related. I also include a step-by-step nutrition blueprint for you... www.tacticalbodyweightworkouts.com/

      Hello again. I applied the squat to shoulder press workout for the very first time today. Felt very good and I will try to apply that as much as possible. I appreciate your feedback and links and knowledge.

    • @TacticalWorkouts

      Safe is relative. Depends on your injury history, ability level, and exercise history. Learn more in this free course... www.tacticalworkouts.com/

    So you should not touch the dumbbells to the floor on every repetition? Your video only shows the dumbbell at ear level and then being fulling extended upward. I see no downward motion with the dumbbell. Thank you in advance for your response. :)

    • @TacticalWorkouts
      @TacticalWorkouts  2 года назад

      This video shows a generic range of motion (ROM). Of course you can increase/decrease ROM based on your ability level and goal.

    How many reps and sets ?

    • @TacticalWorkouts
      @TacticalWorkouts  5 лет назад +1

      Short answer: Depends on your goal. 1-3 reps for power. ^ reps for strength. 12 reps for hypertrophy. But, honestly speaking, there are a handful of other variables to consider. I talk more about the exact programs to help you boost power, strength, and muscle in my book, Tactical Bodyweight Workouts. You can grab a copy here: www.TacticalBodyweightWorkouts.com/

    could i add a hammer curl to this?

    • @TacticalWorkouts
      @TacticalWorkouts  8 лет назад +1

      +James Scrima Yes, you can; however, this will minimize the desired outcome (explosive power). I suggest you do the move as shown for 3 sets of 3 reps. Next, superset the db hammer curl (elbow flexion) with a db kickback (elbow extension). Do the moves back-to-back with no rest. This is one set. Do 2 sets of 18 reps. I've created proven tactical strength and conditioning system here, with exact sets and reps for every exercise... www.tacticalbodyweightworkouts.com/ Good news is that you don't need equipment. I include a nutrition plan too.
