We have attached links for all of the Dominican Republic entrance requirements as well as the new(ish) E-Ticket application. Weird tip for Canadians living in the USA ... even though you choose the correct options, at the very end it may show the wrong citizenship... I filled it out at home, waited in line at customs for 30 minutes just to be told it said USA which didn't match my Canadian passport. I had to go to their computer and do it again, same end result, but the 3rd time it finally had the correct info for the final results.
When I did it before leaving DR, same thing, I had to go through the process a couple times before it was correct at the very end. Strange, but that's when I knew it definitely wasn't me 😂
I love your videos. My mom is Dominican so I travel every year there i love DR. I mostly go to jarabacoa but i do go to Sosua beach ⛱️.

One comment on the E-Ticket application -- while the website seems to work perfectly on an iPhone, it is total garbage on Android. Multiple members of our group verified this -- it is practically impossible to fill this thing out on every Android phone we tried, but we had no issues on any iPhone. If you have an Android phone, I suggest you use a PC to fill the thing out -- it works perfectly on a PC as well. This was as of 3/19/22

One correction about e-ticket: you don't need to have the return e-ticket done in DR. I did both Entrada and Solida at the same time about a month before my trip. No issues.
I am sorry, yes you do need the e-ticket for the return flight. They will not hand you a boarding pass without seeing that QR code.

You may want to notify your viewers that POP will close in May for ten days. May 9 - 20. You may notice that you cannot book travel in or out of POP during this period.

That is Bacardi island off the coast of Samana. That's what they tell the tourists, but its real name is Cayo Levantado. They were remodeling a big resort on the island when we visited, I think it is scheduled to reopen this summer. Bahia Principe - a quick google search should bring it up 👍
Thank you so much! Me and my Buddies will be staying in Casa Linda for a week and we usually rent a Car to get around and make the most of time available. Rio San Juan day trip is easily doable but I'm thinking destination Semana could be a different ball game! 🤔

Yes there is ypu have to go to claro store and get a prepaid wifi Sim card or a device not sure how much but they have
Put an international plan on your mobile device. You can use your phone while moving through the airport and while getting yourself settled. Then hit up a Claro or Altice store and get local sim. Data is cheap here compared to North America. Once it's working cancel the international plan you were using.

Best thing is to rent a hotel or condo for a week and then go looking for apartments

Are debit cards ir credit cards a thing in DR for taxis, restaurants etc or is it more strictly cash?
Mostly cash, some restaurants will take a card but it can be a bit dicey. That said, the bank atms work well, just notify your home bank that you are traveling.

I ask because I did it one time 3 days before and when I arrived at the Immigration desk they had no record of it in their system; although I had the photo of my QR code and application number on my phone. The officer told me I should have did it the night before. What time frame do you normally do yours since you fly in and out all the time? Thanks.
@@LOBOS-99 I always do mines within 24 hours...either when you are going to get your covid test or when you check in online to your flight.

most phone carriers have a international plan (if not free) for using your phone or data.
If not & you really need internet while out & about outside from your hotel, you can purchase a prepaid sim or hotspot from Claro or Altice.
If you go to an official store, they will take a photo copy of your passport to setup an account that you can re-up every time you visit the country.
Or you can go to a local phone shop & set it up that way...maybe only a one time use though.
(*Note most places you go have wifi including your hotel...just ask nicely while you order your beer)
Correct, stop at any of the local cell phone shops and pick up a sim. 20 bucks and you’ll have enough data for a few weeks

Yes and it is ridiculous. COVID testing at POP is fast and easy. 1500 pesos and in/out results in hand 20 minutes 👍👍

Is it easy to do the e-ticket on your android tablet vs laptop computer?
its best on your phone so you can save the pdf or QR code & easily show it when asked. Tablet is ok too...
Rather not have to pull your laptop out at the airport to search for the file.

See my comment above -- the app does NOT work properly on Android although it works perfectly on an iPhone. If you only have an Android phone, I would suggest doing it on a PC, then save the QR code and email it (or whatever) to your Android phone.
@@DirectionlessStudent I have an android phone. Worked for me on my last 3 trips to RD. I do agree that printing the QR code is another good option.
@@CABNoLimit Probably an Android version issue then? All I know is we tried it on 3 different Android phones and it was all wonky on every one of them. The auto-fill was screwing up the name fields, the birth date could only be entered using the calendar (I would have had to scroll back to 1961 one month at a time LOL), etc. I would advise trying it at home before leaving for the airport for anyone with an Android phone.

You need to book a return flight and then cancel it when you arrive
