In many Muppet productions, Muppets can be 'remotely' operated by puppeteers via wires, strings and such. The larger ones do contain actors inside. So the question at 10:25 is confirmed that an actor inside is also, by cannon, a 'Muppet'.

My favorite parts, there soo many, I love everything about it. I just recently seen this film for the first time weeks ago. I like that little creature called "Fizzgig". I think my most favorite parts is when Jen and Kiera hold hands and could see the lives of each other. My other favorite scene is the part where Jen holds Kiera close to her as the Crystal Being tells him "Hold her close, she is a part of you, as we all are a part of each other". The film is a magical, empowering, emotional, and spiritual healing experience and it is beautiful to see others, like you, that could watch and appreciate the magic and mastery of his art; that is the Genius of Jim Henson.✨

I’m echoing the recommendation of Netflix’s *The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance* (2019). This prequel to the iconic classic film was produced by Lisa Henson, daughter of Jim Henson, who leads The Jim Henson Company. They truly brought their best to the series. Although it was unfortunately canceled after one season due to low viewership, I still highly recommend it. The magic of Jim Henson’s imagination remains intact, and that’s why I cherish this show as much as the original film. You may want to react to it as well and give us your thoughts.

Excellent reaction the dark crystal with Jim Henson masterpiece he thought labyrinth was but nobody liked it. Well, hardly anybody critics bandit haven’t seen yet, but he wanted to make a sequel for the longest time, but so before Jim Henson, died, he made a partnership with Disney when he died, they took it over lock stock and barrel. His family still has some saying they were, they still have some say but what projects they do for the creature shop the dark Crystal was all his idea he wanted just an adult. He already mastered them Muppets. He wanted to show them. They could do more than just comedy skits. Nothing wrong with that but he knew more and he was right, I think Disney owns so much. I think they forgot their own crystal so much so that a couple years ago on Netflix made a dark crystal series on Netflix thanks for the fun until next time

To add another layer to appreciating the movie and Henson's brilliance, the Skeksis/Mystics connection also applies to the Qabala, the 10 Sephirot of the Tree of Life for the esoteric philosophy of Emanations, and their reverse, the 10 Qliphot on the 'inverted' or 'perverted' side of the Tree of Life. The same energy, just positive and negative. You can explain the personalities of the 10 Skeksis by understanding the Qabala. Unsure if it was intentional, but it maps.

A few years ago Netflix made a prequel series called The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and it is phenomenal! Unfortunately, it didn't get as much viewership as they wanted and it was very expensive to make, I'm sure, so they cancelled it after the first season...right after it won an award! ugh, Netflix has issues. Anyway, even though they were not able to continue with the story they were telling in that series, those episodes are SO worth watching!! A lot of the original practical effects people were involved and they had this wonderful blend of puppetry/practical effects and good CGI that made the characters come to life more than they ever could have done in 1982. This movie is one of my favorites from childhood. This and The Neverending Story are solidified in my core memories and I rewatch them often. I'm so glad you're taking the time to experience them. Enjoy!

I saw this when it released, and it blew my mind more than anything since. CGI has nothing on what practical effects could do in the right hands.

@@robertgronewold3326 He must react to the series and then for it all to make sense React to DreamFastWithMe videos! The Skeski used to be very good and the series shows just how entrenched they were after they slowly lost their wondrous feathers and coloured scales.
The ancestors of the current Gelfling Leaders all once knew the skeski when they were good. A lot of their societal and tech improvements came from them. There’s a lot of history which was all inspired by J.R.R Tolkien. ❤

And if you love the podlings already you WILL love Hup from the netflix series.

I remember loving this when it came out. The film is a treat for the eyes and ears... The production design is nothing short of incredible and the puppetry is quite impressive. The music score is one of my favorites of the '80s. There's never been another movie before or since that is quite like it. I also remember thinking this is what the Lord of the Rings movie should look like when they finally get around to making a live action version.

Btw, the Gelflings are "muppets".. not people in suits. The onlu time theyte a little person in a suit is when theres a wide angle from far away. All the closups of Gen... Jim Henson is literally right below camera. Also, Ogra is being performed by Oz, but the voice was later dubbed by an actress.. as Frank's voice already too well known. However the behind the scenes feature shows Oz's live voiced version. The Skeksis and Mystics are operated kinda like a hunched over Big Bird.. the operaters hand is moving the head, and is monitoring their movments inside the body with a small analog tv. It got very hot in those things.

Apparently the Garthim suit were so difficult to don & doff, but also very heavy, they built a ramp the performers could walk up between takes. This had a scaffold of sorts that would hold onto the suits, and allow the performers to get a rest. Very creative.
