Seems inline with what I get - this little engine is a highway warrior in my eyes. Does okay with mix/city driving - about 19mpg. Short city drives 10-15 minutes I see closer to 16mpg - but once I'm on the highway 20-22mpg at 75-85mph with less than 2k RPM.
That's pretty good considering you're on 18's maybe 19's in a 4x4 and knobby tires . Where I'm in a 2020 GMC 2.7L Elevation 2x4 crew-cab short bed riding on 20's on All Seasons tires. My truck is the reference to the Chevy RST. The 22 mpg's would had most likely been my number counting for the head wind you encountered. Have 11 mths left on lease; my goal new F150 Power boost(Hybrid) or back to this same truck in with 4x4 and the 2022 -2023 now come with 430 pounds feet of torque. By the way it tows like a champ. I have 17K miles towing an RV Travel Trailer.
I love mine I would contact your dealer soon to see what your options are at the end of the lease I was able to get out of my 19 F150 over a year early and got 6xxx as a down payment on the next truck
You can't argue with physics a turbo puts more air in more air automatically means more fuel. These new trucks and engines are EXTREMELY complex I keep mine a long time it would be interesting to see how these things hold up over the long haul.
Not sure why anyone would opt for the 2.7 when the 5.3 averages the same numbers. That's been my experience with my 2020 Z71 RST with the 5.3. Either way, it's amazing the fuel mileage these full size trucks are capable of these days. While at the same time delivering twice the horse power and torque of just 20 years ago.
@@sasquatchphil89 just got myself the 2022 2.7. And that’s the truth. Dealer had probably 7 trucks. All with the 2.7. Due to emissions and all that I’m sure the 2.7 will be the all star for the trucks even if the 5.3 performs similarly. Look at RAM. 2023 will likely be the last year of their legendary Hemi.
I actually went for the 2.7l due to most reports of the motor being reliable. The 5.3l and 6.2 with afm/dfm are known to kill motors and need head work when you hit 100k miles
There’s still plenty of V8’s out there folks. There’s no reason to buy a full size truck with half an engine to save a couple of bucks and get a couple more miles per gallon. If your worried about a couple more miles per gallon you probably shouldn’t have spent $45,000-$60,000 on a truck in the first place!!!! Just a thought!
The Trail Boss kills the economy capabilities of that engine. Those Duratracs and the missing front air dam that the rest of the Silverados get really hurts the mileage. I have a 6.2L Trail Boss and get around 15-16mpg city and 20-21 hwy.
All of the numbers are great I have to dumps lol one is a truck other dump trailer! I own a 6.0 2500 best mpg babying it I got 16.1 mpg hiway, that was 65mph cruise on no traffic. Ive seen it as low as 11 all around and I got 36 gallon tank so yeah?
Damn! I bought a 2022 Silverado Custom and I get 19.8 just puttering around here with a mixture of town and highway and I get about 22 strictly on the highway so something with your truck is off for sure.
What type of gas did you use? I just purchased a 2022 Silverado and the dealer told me I can use regular gas but if I want better performance use premium gas.

I am not hopeful that this engine will get impressive MPG in the next gen Colorados/Canyons. Does not seem like it will beat the 2.8 diesel, which they are dropping. :/
@@sasquatchphil89 my diesel Canyon averages around 24mpg mostly going back and forth to work. Over 30 easy during lots of highway driving. The 1500s might only weigh about 500llb more (comparing double cab to mid-size crew cab), and have similar drag characteristics. I don't see that weight difference allowing such a big mpg increase. What do you think?

I have a 2.7L V4 2022 silverado custom
and I get 18-19 in the city and 22 on the highway. My average is always around 19.5-20.0 miles per gallon
Mine has the factory lift and bigger tires
Its not a v4 btw. Its an inline 4
Great review thanks you! Did I see the trucks transmission slip out of gear and slam back in gear?

Most people don’t have a choice with the selection on the dealer lots

Dodge is bringing back the straight 6 tho
New 4CYL is an actual purpose built truck engine.
5.3 has issues..look it up and I bet it gets killed off soon.

Does your truck have the new refreshed with 420 torgue?

Why was the dash so close on one trip and so far off on the return?! That’s very odd.
I think it had to do with the trip up hill and down hill
He didn’t reset. Note the mileage on the return trip 220.9. It showed the average of the trip (18.5)
why not just make the whole trip, then fill up?
Or just run a full tank out, more miles in between fill ups the more accurate it would be.
It was just the way I did it
My issue is I like the 2.7 but if the 5.3 is getting relatively the same mpg that's what I'd buy
2.7 towes more

Diesel makes a huge difference in mpg
What gas octane does this truck require
@@totljag1 so GM says 93 but they also say the 87 works as well
I'm confused my 23' 2.7 gets 26+ mpg at 60mph at 70 mph I get 28.5 mpg. Around town I get 23-24. To be fair I drive light footed
Do you have the trail boss?
No you don’t you get about 21 or 22 just like the rest of them
2023 LT 2.7 turbo, I get 27 mpg burning wawa 91 octane every day back and forth to work.
Wait so you got that kind of mileage with a 4 cyl. truck?
How fast were you driving on average and what were the RPM’s?
Driving normally 70 mph and rpm’s where around 2k
What gas octane do you use ?
It’s 89 i believe.
How many speeds your tranny have?
8 speeds
And I don’t care for it I have this odd problem at first start up Where it jerks
what was with the check engine light
