Where I bought the ingredients:
Mud chalk also known as Calcium carbonate
www.bulksupplements.com/en-ch...
or
www.kurland.de/produkt/ruegen...
Xylitol:
www.nhc.com/xylitol-sweetener...
Glycerine:
lotioncrafter.com/products/gl...
Peppermint essential oil:
www.formulatorsampleshop.com/...
About the ingredients used:
🍀Calcium carbonate is a common toothpaste ingredient with 5 key functions:
Removing extrinsic discolouration.
Gives the toothpaste a white colour.
Makes the paste thicker.
Aids in tooth remineralisation.
Balances the pH of the mouth by buffering.
Calcium salt is often a white, odourless powder, but it can also be a colourless crystalline substance. It is also insoluble in water.
It occurs naturally in rocks from the minerals calcite and aragonite.
It is frequently found in limestone, egg shells, mussels and pearls. The abrasiveness is also mild enough not to damage enamel.
🍀Xylitol
Xylitol is also used as an ingredient in dental care products such as chewing gum, tablets and breath mints.
Xylitol has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration as a safe non-nutritive sweetener.
Xylitol is highly toxic to dogs.
If your dog ingests xylitol toothpaste, it is important to take your dog to the vet immediately.
🍀Glycerin:
The main purpose of glycerin in toothpaste ingredients is to act as a binder, humectant and texture enhancer. Here's a breakdown of these functions:
The concern about glycerol and remineralisation is that it can interfere in the absorption of minerals by tooth enamel, which is a natural process that helps to strengthen and repair teeth.
However, because glycerin is water soluble, it does not create a permanent barrier to the absorption of minerals by tooth enamel. Instead, any glycerin coating on the teeth can be quickly and easily washed away by saliva or water, allowing minerals to reach the enamel and support the remineralisation process.
Glycerin as a binder:
Glycerin helps to bind all of the ingredients in the toothpaste together, ensuring that the texture is consistent and that the components do not separate from each other. It contributes to the overall stability of the toothpaste formula.
Glycerin as a humectant:
Glycerol acts as a moisturising agent, helping to retain moisture in the toothpaste. This feature helps to prevent the toothpaste from drying out and becoming difficult to use, and to maintain its smooth consistency even after it is exposed to the air when the tube is opened.
Glycerin as a texture enhancer:
Glycerine helps make the toothpaste smooth and creamy. This makes it easier to spread on the toothbrush and apply to the teeth. It also helps to create a pleasant sensation in the mouth when you brush your teeth.
Essential Oil:
🍀Peppermint Essential oil
Bacteria are a major cause of bad breath, so peppermint oil and regular mouth rinsing can help you achieve fresh breath and a healthy mouth.
It reduces inflammation
It relieves pain
The antimicrobial effects of peppermint oil can also protect against fungi. This means that it can be useful against oral candida infections.
Peppermint can be great for knocking out nasty oral germs
Sage Essential oil
Frankincence Essential oil
Lemon Essential oil
VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Guys, I completely forgot to talk about adding preservatives to the liquid toothpaste.
In many commercial toothpastes they usually add about 18 to 20% alcohol and in some you have sodium benzoate and parabens.
I advise you to use sodium benzoate because parabens have come under intense scrutiny - particularly because they mimic oestrogen in the body, according to the Breast Cancer Fund. and alcohol can leave your mouth feeling very dry.
Make sure you only add the recommended dose.
The powdered toothpaste do not need any preservative, as long as it stays dry.
Thank you all very much 🙏🏾
If the tooth paste is alkaline there is no preservation from sodium benzoate. Sodium benzoate needs acidic pH to convert to benzoic acid - actual preservative.
Parabens are safe, that's why they are used in skin and oral care products. The statement from the fund doesn't mean they are harmful. Also, if you are not convinced by FDA and other regulatory departments + massive amount of studies - then you have to avoid all the berries in your ratio and extracts you put in your formulas on this channel (because berries are full of parabens)
just keep it as a powder, then you don't have to worry about it going bad. even if you add water to this, it won't go bad due to the sage powder and all of the essential oils. they will preserve the paste. no brainer...
doesn't the glycerin keep the mix from going bad tho? if we can leave fresh herbs in glycerine for a couple months wouldn't it be fine with dried powders?
1st like from India 😊

Hello, another valuable video. Thanks for your efforts. Will the product spoil if we do not add any preservatives? Or would you suggest we add preservatives? If so, how many grams of which preservative should be used? Thanks :)
Thank you for watching dear. I think I wrote down something about the preservative in the comment section. It should be the first comment as I pinned it.

Do we need any preservatives? If yes, what's the percentage?

how many percent sodium benzoate in tooth paste
Thanks for sharing Cecil.
If you add Glycerin, what is the shelf life, does it need preservatives?
Does this toothpaste with these ingredients you just made foam like an ordinary toothpaste?
Thanks and I'm glad to get you back.
My phone was stolen and I lost your contact. I'll try to reconnect. Thanks for all you do ma'am.
Same doubts from India
U only add a Preservative when ur using water
NO WATER was added only Glycerin so u dont need to add any Preservative
And no the toothpaste wont foam because a sulfate wasn't added
Of course you can add in preservative, I completely forgot to mention it. Thank you for mentioning that.
In many toothpaste you have about 18 to 30 % of alcohol and in some you have sodium benzoate and paragons.
I advice you to use sodium benzoate, as parabens have come under intense scrutiny - particularly because they mimic estrogen in the body, according to the Breast Cancer Fund.
