I've never been to Ultimate Comics in Raleigh, but the one in Cary is awesome! Their backroom full of back issues is huge!
The tmnt holding the mmpr helmets variants come from the main mmpr comic series drawn by goni montez when kyle higgins wrote the original run.
The first series i read was The New Warriors back in early 90s then Image hit with Spawn, Youngblood, etc etc etc i was hooked

Cool story. Thanks for sharing . I have a very similar one - 2020- i went to a used bookstore looking for trade paperbacks and DVDs because that’s what I collected the most. They never sell single issues at this bookstore but they got a donation of 20 long boxes and I was curious. They didn’t care about them so they put them by the main entrance next to the security check in and trash cans. 10 for $1 . I got first dibs at an unpicked box. Found ultimate fallout 4 (and 1-3) still in its baggie. I didn’t know what I had but when I got home I looked them all up and when I got to ufo4 I was hooked. And it’s still in my collection alongside 4000+ books now.
I've purchased about 35 DC Omni's this year so I totally relate to "going crazy". Only read about 3 so far but it feels good just to have them there when I feel like jumping in.

My story is so much like yours. Ive just recently gotten back into comic books, it’s been nice. I too live in NC. I work at a call center too haha. That’s wild. Love the videos. Keep it up. I’m trying to start making this type of content. Would love to collaborate in the future.
Man, going back through this deep-dive Kicks history has me feeling like a Troglodyte or a Caveman. Simone Di Meo did the art on the first MMPR/TMNT series, by the way.

The shelf i purchased like a rite of passage in the comic hobby once i had enough to fill.
