He is a knowledgeable person. He explained the current economic situation in an understandable manner. To be honest, I was a little disinterested in some guests who come primarily for self-promotion without providing useful stuff. We want more guests like him. We would love for part 2 with him when the time is right, whether it’s about the capital market, taxes, or the economic situation at that time.
This discussion on Ethiopia's macroeconomic situation is the most engaging and impartial I've seen yet. One crucial aspect that hasn't received enough attention is how the political climate significantly hinders economic growth. A stable political environment is essential for economic progress. To attract foreign direct investment, a country must have a reliable legal system. Similarly, developing the tourism or manufacturing sectors requires a peaceful environment, often necessitating negotiations between the government and opposition groups. Ultimately, economic growth hinges on the government's commitment to democratization and establishing a system of checks and balances. Your guest is very knowledgeable and would benefit us if he had emphasized the detrimental impact of the current political system. We're still at a one man show government system. We want to see a more vibrant parliament that entertains a real debate!

Very vivid and informative explanation of the current financial reform in Ethiopia. True both the government of Ethiopia and the financial sector have already used up their leverage to stay relevant for IMF/world bank/ or other lending institutions. This, as a result, I believe becomes the maker or breaker of the future of the country as a nation. Unfortunately, I don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Even if he is more inclined to Market fundamentalism , the way he tries to elaborate the possible economic and Market scenarios would have been accepted .He is one of the few prominent young economist in the Town . one thing what he didn’t mention boldly was , the weakness of the regulatory framework and capacity of the government is not good enough to accomplish this task, surly Ethiopia will be the failed state soon .

The main point of this conversation lies at 31-32 mins. The government should have a continuous flow of foreign currency. Unless you have it, there is no way floating exchange will stabilize the country economy. The IMF loan currencies will dry soon and you'll go back to square one. 💯 Actually it will fold by many squares. 😄

On a serious note, unless there is enough way to generate the foreign currency that satisfies the demand of the countr, it won't be a solution and it has a much worse effect that what we already seen. እንደ መንግስት፣ የምትቆጥበው መሰረታዊ ነገሮች አሟልተህ ነው እንጂ ያመጣህው በቀን አንዴ፣ እንደ ኤርሚያስ አመልጋ እንኳን እየበላህ እንኳ አይበቃብም። 😁 Our foreign currency demand much greater than our income/generate(dont include IMF begged loan,የልመና ብር ገቢ አይደለም,ለምን?ሁል ጊዜ አይገኝም) foreign currency.
