Anyone who so much as looked at that project in the wrong way is permanently enjoined from participating in a wide range of activities involving any sort of software that touches anything Nintendo, including bypassing technological protections that are not usually covered by the DMCA.

I never comment on stuff but I will say this man. Overlay/no overlay you're still an incredible person to watch doing runs that bring me back to my childhood. Even if you just had Plat through with no timer or a small timer and just commented on everything that would be cool to watch. I know that feeling, worked for 3 years on a software just for developement to be discontinued. So much work and anticipation just gone. But on the bright side, we learned so much during the time and that's something that will never be gone. I sincerely hope you'll find the opportunity and motivation to put these learnings into a new project that will make you feel like this was a good thing to happen in a few years from now. I'd keep supporting you, watching your videos even if you'd have to go back to your roots (regarding video/overlay quality), because it's you, the person and voice behind the production that makes your content as great as it is!

Sad something that’s unrelated and still perfectly functional got taken down as a result of Gamehook disappearing. Looked like a wonderful learning tool I’d hoped to use. Dark days indeed. Yes but you sound and seem reasonable enough to not gate off old content you no longer use. See I could see the argument on yuzu it's all relatively new stuff. But Nintendo is shutting down the 3ds store AND citra. So either you pay a scalper absurd money for what might not even work, or you don't get to play old games. They overstepped and honestly maybe Nintendo should be in trouble for their actions. Bullying smaller creators and treating people like dollar signs.

You have inspired me to re-play pokémon in new and fun ways, yet I've personally never touched the software, because it is not needed to enjoy the games or your well-made content that you upload. I lack any Understanding about Programming and what the Software Stuff is, but I understand beeing a Creator, beeing Creative. Im very possessive and overprotective of things I own, or make, and as such I think I can understand your Pain.
My suggestion Scott is to ensure you personally have a backup of the program files to be safe. As someone who might have had to work on software that no longer exists (or is old enough to remember such programs) for the public I usually make multiple copies in order to ensure their future usability. I've definitely been there in terms of the bummer feeling you're having right now. It's unfortunate you had to make this video, but it's very important you did for the fans who regularly follow your content. I'd suggest, since some people follow your every video, and some people follow your streams regularly instead, to bring up this topic to open the next couple videos before challenges. I know you would probably prefer not to rehearse this, but I think it would significantly reduce on the "why this" questions you'll inevitably receive from the next few live streams as this video gets buried. I'd suggest it be your front page video for awhile but I don't think that's a good advertisement of your channel and doesn't sell the happy funtimes you share with your fanbase. But it would probably at least tackle random passerby questions for a time. All that's entirely up to you of course and is just friendly suggestions to help you!

You have the most beautiful of overlays I could never hope to match, but your channel and others had been an inspiration for trying to venture into something like this out of hobby and passion. The discord disbanded, as I find today trying to log into discord and not seeing the channel, is there another one for any lingering GH discussion for those who still have it?
yeah.... but also.... yuzu emulates the fuckin /switch/, the current mainline nintendo console, the source of... all of their money. 'tendo probably wouldn't like gamehook, but it's not in really the same ballpark. also gamehook isn't an emulator, there are hundreds of gameboy emulators, it's... a different beast entirely. something with a lot less mass appeal, even as it's more powerful. iunno, obviously it's the creators decision, but if the only reason is the yuzu stuff, with my understanding, it feels like an overreaction

@@adventureoflinkmk2 Oblivion still has the leveling system of Morrowind, but it's heaps easier to get into. Skyrim is streamlined through and through, but the writing just keeps getting worse all the time. As a sandbox, Skyrim is best. As a story, I'm told Morrowind is best. Oblivion is between the two on both.
It's been a long time since i played morrowind, but I remember oblivions levelling system being way slower. I finished the main story of oblivion at level 4 while morrowind i finished in the mid 60s. It did still have the primary and secondary skills and attributes and whatnot, but I don't even remember hitting 60 in oblivion while that was a normal playthrough of morrowind for me. But yes, you're right about the sandbox=skyrim, story=morrowind and oblivion being in between the two. I'll add that I would always recommend morrowind over oblivion ONLY if you enjoy 90s style rpgs and/or grew up playing those sort of games. It's easily a far superior game overall, but even the memory of shooting a bow or swinging a sword and clearly hitting, and still missing, is enough to turn myself and a lot of people off the combat after playing games with actual hitboxes for the past 20 years. Yes, you get to a point where you basically never miss anyway, but that isn't the point lol. Watching an arrow go through an enemy and do no damage is infuriating to say the least@@JJ-qo7th

I do think they are being way to careful. Nintendo only goes after things that make a profit or things that outright steal like yuzu was doing. People need to learn that Nintendo isn't that bad despite what most say. Every thing they've gone after they provided legit reasons for.

Yeah that really hurt, I was just getting into the server and making tools for one of my favorite Yugioh games, and to have that dissapear really hits hard.
Subscribed to the channel in case a gamehook revival or replacement comes around. You have the most beautiful of overlays I could never hope to match, but your channel and others had been an inspiration for trying to venture into something like this out of hobby and passion. The discord disbanded, as I find today trying to log into discord and not seeing the channel, is there another one for any lingering GH discussion for those who still have it?

yeah.... but also.... yuzu emulates the fuckin /switch/, the current mainline nintendo console, the source of... all of their money. 'tendo probably wouldn't like gamehook, but it's not in really the same ballpark. also gamehook isn't an emulator, there are hundreds of gameboy emulators, it's... a different beast entirely. something with a lot less mass appeal, even as it's more powerful. iunno, obviously it's the creators decision, but if the only reason is the yuzu stuff, with my understanding, it feels like an overreaction

@@tsawy6nintendo is a super shady, protective company, and not just for their current gen stuff. look up the shady shit they did with Smash World Tour. also, yuzu sets a legal precedent for other companies to do the same thing. it's bad for emulation and game preservation, and i can't blame anyone for wanting to avoid getting caught in it.

Nintendo Switch emulator Yuzu got taken down by Nintendo. Bunch of other devs got spooked.
I bet Nintendo themselves had a hand in shutting gamehook down. Nintendo seems to actively despise it when anyone wants to play or stream their games.
That‘s really sad, I participated on the Smeargle race, so I still have Gamehook installed.

@@adventureoflinkmk2 Oblivion still has the leveling system of Morrowind, but it's heaps easier to get into. Skyrim is streamlined through and through, but the writing just keeps getting worse all the time.
As a sandbox, Skyrim is best.
As a story, I'm told Morrowind is best.
Oblivion is between the two on both.
It's been a long time since i played morrowind, but I remember oblivions levelling system being way slower. I finished the main story of oblivion at level 4 while morrowind i finished in the mid 60s. It did still have the primary and secondary skills and attributes and whatnot, but I don't even remember hitting 60 in oblivion while that was a normal playthrough of morrowind for me.
But yes, you're right about the sandbox=skyrim, story=morrowind and oblivion being in between the two. I'll add that I would always recommend morrowind over oblivion ONLY if you enjoy 90s style rpgs and/or grew up playing those sort of games. It's easily a far superior game overall, but even the memory of shooting a bow or swinging a sword and clearly hitting, and still missing, is enough to turn myself and a lot of people off the combat after playing games with actual hitboxes for the past 20 years. Yes, you get to a point where you basically never miss anyway, but that isn't the point lol. Watching an arrow go through an enemy and do no damage is infuriating to say the least@@JJ-qo7th

I do think they are being way to careful. Nintendo only goes after things that make a profit or things that outright steal like yuzu was doing. People need to learn that Nintendo isn't that bad despite what most say. Every thing they've gone after they provided legit reasons for.
