FYI if you want to be able to select characters in The Simpsons look for a 2player ROM , the 4 player cabnets had a stick per character but the 2 stick cabs let you pick your character
I ALMOST purchased a SNES classic, but then I got to shopping around, and finally settled on a second hand pre-hacked wii for the best bang for my buck.
But if you don't have a video upscaler like the framemeister or ossc, as well as component cables, then the wii won't be HD like the snes classic, sadly.
I mean, if you have to DL files just to get it to work, you might as well just hack the SNES mini. It would probably be easier and faster in the long run. I dunno, I don't get it?
Agreed. Hack a product to get it to do what it was designed to? I have cartridges but hacking the console, itself, just seems like a much better way to go. My SNES Classic has thousands of games on it.
RGT 85 Sorry Shawn you lost me at Dump roms i hate doing that...... i dont wanna do anything illegal even if no one cares looks like im sticking to VC and SNES mini
the chances of bricking your SNES Classic by using this would be the same considering it uses Haxchi. The ONLY difference is you have a device with a cartridge port hooked up to the system.
the_randomizer oh, yeah that's one of those cartridges that you can put an sd card in, load it up with ROMs. That would probably work for the super analogue, right?
I'm all thumbs when it comes to technical stuff, I had to get a friend to update the firmware for my 8bitdoh controller. This looks great but I hope by the time it reaches the market it'll be alot easier to setup.
Nintendo sure isn't stocking the SNES Classic like they are the NES Classic. I never see the SNES Classic in stores anymore. But I always see the NES Classic.
Really? i guess it depends where but every time I go into a store that sells video games like Walmart etc. I always see a few. They're also on Amazon for retail price.
Did you try out the roms that were dumped when you put a cartridge in? Since getting working roms of certain games can sometimes be tough, it'd be nice to have a reliable way to create them from original carts.
Watch the other review from Modern vintage gamer. He does a more in depth review and goes over things that wasn't talked about in this video. But yes it's great for dumping the roms of your own games.
I don't think that I'll ever have a need for this device because the games that I really wanted to play the most is in the vanilla set for $80. I have no moral issues for people that want to do this, however for me I have all the games that I'd ever want to play. Its awesome that it plays 64 though, so that might win me over in the future
Hey Sean do you remember a devise called the Double Pro-Fighter I had one in 93' you would insert it in the cartridge slot of an SNES or Genisis and then insert an actual cartridge into it and it would copy the rom onto a diskette. Just curious because I never knew anyone else to have one back then. Man, time sure flies
Still havent got my hand on either of the mini systems from Nintendo, havent found one yet, they're no where around where I live. Hoping for a rerelease soon!
Does this completely modify your SNES Classic firmware or is it just a plug in play device that doesn't change your SNES Classic after when you disconnect it from the console?
About 75 of the snes library will run natively on the stock emulator (canoe) this is good (if you have the original cart)for those hard to or impossible games to emulate...like street fighter alpha 2 smh
If you want to play ROMs, there ate many options, even Analogue Super NT can play ROMs by using EVERDRIVE. The cheapest option is to install RetroArch on your PC
Hello, please tell me, I have on snes mini installed hakchi2 ce 3.8.0, Sega 32x games especially mortal kombat 2 slow down and fps drawdown, picodrive 1.92 emulator, how to fix or what installations on the emulator to set? Thanks.
My SNES classic is giving me problems. I left it on for about 5 hours one day and ever since it will shut off when I load my game from a save state and when I shut it off and then turn it back on it won't turn on right away, I'll have to turn it off and wait a minute before I turn it back on. Then it will turn off again next time I load from a save state. Lost my receipt. Ugh
You might have damaged the circuit board or CPU. Don't leave it the little guy on for 5 hours. It can't handle it most likely. Also, if you didn't pay with cash and you lost receipt, any store should be able to find the purchase using the Debit or Credit card you used to pay with.
Very late reply here, but it's a Nintendo product, so it has a 1-year warranty if you're still within that timeframe. Just call Nintendo (1-800-255-3700 for North America) and provide them with the serial number from the bottom of the system. Heck, they might not even have the warranty auto-registered in their database which sometimes happens, so they won't have your purchase date. If they ask you when you bought it after you've already given them the serial number, this means they don't have it recorded & you can bend the truth a little to get it set up for a warranty repair. These consoles generate very little heat and should easily be able to be left on for many hours so you didn't do anything wrong there.
K Lee I own an Analogue Super NT, with an EVERDRIVE (which is another US$100) in order to play both SNES cartridges and SNES ROMs only. But I use RetroArch(on PC) and a RetroFreak for other retro games.
For convenience, the best is to buy a PSP with emulators installed from taobao. Total only costs about US$150 and you can play it at home or on the go.
YogiJogi HK Unless Everdrive works with this thing, I still think Super NT with Everdrive is the better combo for both the cost and experience. I also don't think PSP/Vita emulation is relevant to this particular subject. This is more about having the best retro "experience" for the SNES. PSP/PSPGo/Vita is definitely great for emulation on the go though.
I dont know about this. I mean with hackchi I already have all the snes and nes roms on the classics. I can see it for the n64 though but only if the RE2 version on the n64 works.
Andrew Oberhauser it is a software emulator. First, it dumps the ROMs from the cartridges into the SD flash drive. and you are just playing the ROMs from the SD drive. *but you must have the cartridge inserted in order to play it.
would be quite ironic if this emulates genesis stuff better than the AtGames systems (which apparently the Japan release got delayed and I guess SEGA told AtGames to take a hike?! good to know, I guess) but the unit seems cool! nice way to do it if you want to back up your own physical copies.
I feel like as much as you pay for this thing I feel like all you should have to do is hook it up to your SNES classic and just put your cartridge in it and you should be good to go
For what it is, I think it takes too many "extras" to be a worthwhile product. You shouldn't have to hack a new product to get it to do what it was designed to.
Yeah, buy a real SNES, and end up getting a 240p signal that your tv doesn't understand, or a very blurry picture if you don't happen to have bought a 1Chip SNES. A real SNES would really be my number 1 choice, but being not interested in collecting for the system, and probably wanting to purchase just a handful of extra games, this device actually seems a pretty good option with a guaranteed crisp and clean video output in 720p.
FYI if you want to be able to select characters in The Simpsons look for a 2player ROM , the 4 player cabnets had a stick per character but the 2 stick cabs let you pick your character
Does the original cartridge game allow players to select the characters?
YogiJogi HK there’s no cartridge for Simpsons arcade. He’s referring to the Arcade cabinet.
Take a shot every time he says "color me impressed".
That's too many shots to take in 18 minutes, I don't feel like puking. ;)
I do so when they say “without further adieu” which seems to be a RUclips thing

Thanks for saying in your video that you asked for it and got it for free, for review, I appreciate that honesty.
I ALMOST purchased a SNES classic, but then I got to shopping around, and finally settled on a second hand pre-hacked wii for the best bang for my buck.
TimeSplitter Tales so you can play Gamecube games, Wii games, and runs emulators? Amazing
Yep. More games than I will ever be able to play in my life.
But if you don't have a video upscaler like the framemeister or ossc, as well as component cables, then the wii won't be HD like the snes classic, sadly.
Unless you're using a CRT, then it doesn't matter.
I mean, if you have to DL files just to get it to work, you might as well just hack the SNES mini. It would probably be easier and faster in the long run. I dunno, I don't get it?
Transfiguration if you already have existing SNES cartridges it’s a cool thing
Agreed. Hack a product to get it to do what it was designed to? I have cartridges but hacking the console, itself, just seems like a much better way to go. My SNES Classic has thousands of games on it.
Nice, I'm going to look into this more before deciding. It's either this or the superanalogue
Awesome review vid RGT 85. Classic2Magic looks like a very good n neat little product.
1:44 Well played sir 😂
It's almost like modifying your snes mini!
lol pretty much :P
Pretty sure you can just do a rom dump on them like the nes mini?
Yeah it seemed like it did the hacking already
RGT 85 Sorry Shawn you lost me at Dump roms i hate doing that...... i dont wanna do anything illegal even if no one cares
looks like im sticking to VC and SNES mini
@@AxlTheScourge Dumping ROMS from cartridges you own is NOT illegal, unless you share them. That is one of the major selling points of this device.
You're welcome. Thank you.

I'll stick with the Super Analogue.
Me too
I want one so badly, guess I'll just use my Raspberry pi for now.
Agent Orange Exactly. If you want to play cartridges, it's pretty much the best way for modern tvs.
Get an SD2SNES, it supports pretty much every chip now, S-DD1 being next (Star Ocean)

pretty colorful after this review

I really want to buy a NES and SNES classic edition
Nes or snes classic worth the buy just for the games. Modding it with hakchi and retroarch makes it way better
Go for it. Definitely worth the investment because you will not be disappointed.
@@Openreality I have a switch so I don't know for now
Fortunately they are more readily available now. Don't pay scalper prices.
Amazon has Snes And Nes minis readily available.
When your holding it looks like a pregnancy kit 👀great video as always I love your passion
Someone color the man impressed already!
Nice, I can might try to get those Super Star Wars games and plug the Thomas SNES game that I got years ago and use it for the SNES Classic Edition.
The fact Snes classic will run N64 games bodes well for the prospect of an N64 Classic at some point. Colour me impressed.
Nintendo sure isn't stocking the SNES Classic like they are the NES Classic. I never see the SNES Classic in stores anymore. But I always see the NES Classic.

That Street Fighter II cartridge lights legitimate SNES's on fire, what made you think it would work on that thing?

I used one of these for a while back then. It was the best copier / disk player because as you say it worked on both the MD and SFC. Magic.
Did "Color Me Impressed" just become a new drinking game?🍻😂
Bare with me now. This might sound a bit off base but, I take it you’re impressed?
Is it me or you are talking slower than usual? Love your content and this makes the video much more enjoyable. Also, 10/10 pie puns

There's a bunch at my local Best Buy and Target.. Maybe try getting one online
You can get them on amazon for retail price. I just checked.
I'm glad they called it "classic" instead of "retro".
I loved Simpsons back in the day too. I do prefer the pi though I do have both.
So it sounds like this device just makes it "legal"... as opposed to just hacking something and using emulators and such. I like it!
"Memory Stick" is a proprietary memory storage device owned by Sony. What you're using is a thumb drive.
as someone who's new to emulators and doesn't know very much, should I even bother trying to learn since emuparadise is down for good now?
The Simpsons game looks so cool!
I have that same flash drive!!
The most obvious benefit is being able to use a memory stick and adding as many games as you want.
Paul Ngo you can do that for a lot cheaper with just the classic and an OTG adapter. A lot easier too.
Of course you have to turn it off! When have you ever been able to just rip a cartridge out with the system running!?
Very cool.
I read that this device also works on the NES Classic Mini.
Could you try the Super Gameboy? Im curious as to why you didnt try it out

@@plows2940 Okay thanks for letting me know.
It modifies your system completely but I think you can undo everything and make it back to its original form.
It mods it, and cartridges are dumped and played on an emulator. You can do all this free and easy using hakchi.
Castlevania Collection is coming out
search "Classic2Magic" on taobao. This thing is RMB399 (China dollar), which is US$59 *not including shipping.
