Canine in generals are more lovely toward their pack member, they will take care of the one with disability and feed the injured member until its heal.of course, they sometimes kill each other but that depends on the situation.things like a member that cannot be saved or clan clash was pretty common in wild.

@owleyes Malignaggi lol I watched the same video about that Gorilla recently!^^ but yes, of course wild dogs can't communicate in a way as precise as we do. But I think they certainly have certain calls for certain things they want to do, like hunting etc. You can hear that they are communicating all the time with these buzzing and snarling sounds, and it would be very unlikely that these are just random sounds without a meaning. And certainly we underestimated their skill of communication, and still we do.

I find it interesting that in many cases where there is a lone member of another predator species, like the hyena, African Wild Dogs will gang up on it, harass and maybe try to kill it, but with a lioness they take an even more cautious and defensive position. I think it takes a deeper intelligence to know when to attack in these situations and when to draw back. It makes me wonder if they sense there is a pride behind the lioness and if they do anything to her, the consequences to their pack would be more dire.

@@scottwhitley3392 There is no "canine hunting method" and no "feline hunting method" and actually most wolves don't even hunt in packs. Most wolf packs are relatively small with two adults and their newest offspring and only the adults hunt, normally not even together. The pups never learn from their parents how to hunt, instead they learn it on their own once they leave their parents.

Could a single lion really have taken on a pack of over a dozen wild dogs? That seems extremely unlikely to me. Even a minor injury can be fatal on the savannah.

      Unfortunately yes.

A single lion couldn't kill an entire pack of African Wild Dogs alone. Plus, it wouldn't be worth the risk of sustaining multiple injuries in the attempt.

@@lonelyboy1977 that's a very old sick starving lioness, a healthy young adult lioness can kill an entire wild dog pack in minutes.

No, but she could kill at least one of them. It's not a video game where you send your party in and as long as one of them survives, you win and can just revive anyone. Those are animals who individually don't want to die, so they try to avoid risks that could lead to that outcome.
