    Great ideas. How about adding a little gold metalic veining or bubble wrap texturing?

      Fabulous idea! In my next video on using bubbles, I'm doing something every similar. Catch that one on Tuesday evening!

    I've begun using one of my gel plates as a palette. When I've built up several layers of paint, I will apply a thin lift layer of acrylic medium and pull a print.
    I've had very mixed results peeling dried skins off of palette paper... If I use the plastic document sleeves instead of palette paper, I can set them aside to dry and peel off the skins. Sometimes I will use the document sleeve as a palette several times to build up layers before peeling off the skins.

      Using a plastic document sleeve is a great way to create the skins.

    Hi Cat! Love your “can do” attitude and experimenting, mad-scientist approach! I also have a stack of “meh” collage papers that could be improved somehow and this is a great idea! I don’t know if this would work- how about putting those mini ears of corn with the points on the ends that you use to hold an ear of corn on the cob into the ends of your wooden rollers? That way you’d have something to hold onto while you’re rolling. The wood might be too hard for this- but just a thought🤩

    • @catrains.artist
      @catrains.artist  5 месяцев назад

      Great thought! It's definitely worth a try, most of my favorite techniques happen by accident!

    Try using a brayer to level out your paint before you run the rolling pin through it. You would be able to eliminate those blobs of paint on the intricately patterned rolling pins.

    This is a wonderful, thought-provoking, video. I expect those rollers would work better on the plate, but of course you'll already know that. As a learner, I too have many papers that are ho-hum and I now have another way to improve them. Thanks for another great video

      So glad you enjoyed the video. I try to create papers that don't require a plate because not everyone has one. Although this would be fabulous on a plate too!

      A toilet roll is a brilliant idea! Or a paper towel roll! Now you got ME thinking about pushing this further. Hope you enjoy making these.

    • @blackpoppymagazine

      @@catrains.artistTha KS for the reply! Well, I did experiment with the toilet roll and sticky foam sheets, and it works! Altho not wonderful as it's a bit tricky to press firmly so I'm thinking a fat dowel stick mite work better lol. Like the paper towel roll suggestion, I think maybe stuffing the centre with newspaper mite be just the thing to beef the roll out and make it sturdier to roll over the paper/gell plate. But great! Love new ideas! Thanks!!

      @@blackpoppymagazine Thanks for letting me know about your experience with the paper rolls. Yes stuffing it could really help!

    Could you tell/show us how you fill the condiment bottles?

    • @catrains.artist
      @catrains.artist  5 месяцев назад +1

      I'm using Nova paint which easily pout into the bottle. Sometimes I use a small funnel, but usually not necessary.

    What do you mean that you will turn the leftover paint onto a skin and what do you do with the skins?

    I think that the rolle4s would have printed better if you had cushioning under your papers. Either working on top of a gel plate or fun foam.

    • @catrains.artist
      @catrains.artist  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@chantalblanchette1080 I rinse it with water as soon as I'm finished. Paint still remains on the wood, but that doesn't bother me. If I wanted it all off, I could soak it in Murphy's Oil Soap over night.

    Miss Catherine, these were wonderful! Thank you for sharing! I have a question - when you decant your Nova Color Paints, do you use them straight or add something/s to them in the squeeze bottles?
