Thanks for posting! I was at this one. A teenage Seahawks fan living in Cleveland, got to see Zorn, Largent, Warner, and Jacob Green's long TD at the end. My Dad took me and had to put up with my cheering.
I remember those days. The Hawks haven't always enjoyed winning seasons, but they've always had defensive stars- Green, Easley, Kennedy, etc. Good memories!
If the Browns beat the Seahawks, they go to the playoffs and the Seahawks don't. The Browns actually out-gained the Seahawks by 146 yards, but a few key mistakes by Brian Sipe cost them the game (and ultimately a playoff birth). In the days leading up to this game Sipe was the subject of USFL rumors (much to the annoyance of his head coach), and a subconscious distraction like that is all it takes to cause a veteran quarterback to make some mental errors he otherwise wouldn't make during the course of a game.
@@whataboutrob442 I think what he means is the overall schemes since returning to NFC. We ditched that look when we left AFC and it's been not as vibrant look since then.
@@jdom503 Yeah, I didn't care for the "slight change" they used when they went to the blue helmets. But for some reason the newest ones actually grew on me.
Thank you so much for sharing this.Being young at the time I wasn't aware the seahawks had a playoff berth in '83.I thought they broke out big in 84 at 12 and 4 with curt warner Steve larceny Dave krieg Jacob green on defense etc Kenny Easley then 10 and 6 in 86 made a wild card. Then of course the division championship first and possibly their only AFC west championship at only 9 and 7 playing the Bengals when Chuck had Joe Nash controversially feign injury repeatedly to offset the Bengals no huddle offense.Thanx man for load I g this that's awesome.Browns were one of my favorite teams of the time also I really dug the Bernie loser years and Eric Metcalf etc

I remember this game, it was blacked out but Viacom Cable in some Municipalities picked up blacked out games out of Toledo, OH. Such a disappointing loss after huge overtime win the week before to a terrific Chargers team.
Jim Mercuri, you're referencing WTVG-TV 13 in Toledo, Ohio (the Glass City then-NBC station at the time) which Viacom Cable in some Municipalities picked up, I'd bet they picked up WTOL-TV 11 (Toledo's CBS station) and WDHO/WNWO-TV 24 (Toledo's then-ABC station) whenever the Browns home game was blacked out in Cleveland as well.
Jim, you and Marie are precisely right! I grew up in Mansfield, an hour and a half southwest of Cleveland and I remember watching this game. We attended the game the following week vs the New York Jets. Often times games which were "blacked out" in the Cleveland area were picked up by WCMH out of Columbus or a station out of Toledo on channel 13 and got to see all of the Browns home games from 1976-86, with only a few VERY rare exceptions! Brian Sipe's turnovers really COST the Browns in this one. All 3 of Seattle's TD's came off of these turnovers, giving them a short field twice (on the Browns 11 and 15 yard line) and of course, Jacob Green's pick-6 was the backbreaker! The Browns defense actually played well enough to win, as Seattle could not sustain drives. Sipe was still the man, though!
Sipe gave Al Davis a Superbowl 1980 playoffs. Kosar could never get passed Broncos. Jim Zorn beat the Raiders 4 in a row 1978-79. 27-7/17-16/27-10/29-24.
Real grass inside a multi-purpose stadium with no showboating, no throat slashes, no thuggery, and no doubt few, if any rapists playing the game. If you're under the age of 40, you simply have no idea what you missed. The world was a far better place ;-)
I loved this opening music on early 80s NBC.

Dug those Seahawks uniforms back then.
@JBSptfn They are wearing different ones currently than they did just 7 year's ago.

Marie, affirmative on the channel 11 also. The ABC affiliate for Monday Night games was not televised but most of those games were sold-out.
The Browns also lost to the Broncos that year as they were the other AFC wild card team with the Seahawks

Being as Seattle is in the NFC now, this matchup would be on Fox, at least in the setup as it was presented here.
Hmmm you act like Seattle just converted into the AFC West again. Btw it would be on CBS with Tony Romo.
Who cares anyway, William Snot III?
30:45 Week 5 and this 40 yard FG was his longest of the year and the announcers act like he hit from 60 lol

Everyone needs to see the hit at 1:58:00
19:43 tall 6-7 Seahawk TE is holding CLE LB Banks . SEA got caught holding next play
Back in the 80's when a "Seattle Seahawks" hat was written in Times New Roman and doesnt fit yer head right (1:23:14)
Zorn ! # 10
Lmao these announcers they said the offense was offsides while the referee is doing the false start signal
4:23
Someone says offsides and they go with it
