Loved the Seahawks helmets back then. Classic. As a lifelong cowboys fan. The 83 season was a great one through 14 weeks. 12-2 & played 12-2 Washington. A 2nd half collapse lead to a lose. Then a Monday night beat down to the 49ers. Then a WC home lose to the Rams. 3 straight loses & the end that reign until a 1991 WC win then 3 SBs in 4 years. Still waiting for the next Cowboys Reign.
@@robertosso5210 I don't think we'll ever know what really transpired behind the scenes, that changed that caused the team to play with no sense of urgency or motivation that they showed in those last 3 losses (in a row). They were rolling. Then, beginning with that Washington game, the wheels fell off. I've always felt this was a deeper issue that occurred. Idk. It was a major disappointment.
@@jerrywade6179 had they made the first down on that 4th and inches play they would of beat the redskins and had the home field advantage in the playoffs and gone to the super bowl
Kenny Easly was a true Beast of a Safety. Every tackle he made he would have this loud growling chant similar to a bear, no joke. Saw him in San Diego and hearing this growl from him of every tackle. He was truly unique and a player of a different breed.
Seahawks would go 9-7 in 1983, Chuck Knox's first year as Seattle coach, and win two playoff games before losing to the Raiders in 1983 AFC Championship. Cowboys win seven straight games to open the season, and went 12-4, but the Redskins beat them 31-10, late in the season to win the NFC East title. Cowboys lost in the wild-card playoff, to the Rams. I always thought that the Seahawks would have looked best in green jerseys, instead of the blue.
Krieg stepped into the starting lineup during that season & carried Seattle to their 1st playoff appearance. Beating rookie Elway & then rookie Marino before playing in the afc championship game vs the Raiders, who they swept that season. But the Raiders dominated & then dominated Washington. Plunkett for HOF.
@@BAYAREA-kd1ig Oddly, one of the main reasons for the team losing its way is on show late on here, and looking like a real asset. The dispute over whether Gary Hogeboom should replace Danny White started here.
The Landry era concludes with the 90´s cowboys championships, around 40% of those players were drafted by Landry, Tony Tolbert, Jim Jeffcoat, Chad Hennings, Ken Norton, Bill Bates, Michael Irvin, Kevin Gogan, Mark Tuinei, Nate Newton, among others.
@Shabazzrgt007 Bazz That's essentially what cost Thomas Henderson his job with the Cowboys, despite being one of the most gifted athletes in the entire league.
Looking at 3rd and 9 from their own 2 yard line at the 1:40:20 mark , Dorsett does indeed pick up that first down. Not only did hiis knees never touch the ground, his ENTIRE body never touched the ground before rolling out of bounds on top of an opponent's body
Those 80's team were very talented.Loaded with good players. The problem was you had teams like the Redskins and the 49ers that were good too. This was a great team that never made it to a Superbowl. Those Danny White teams were great with basically the same team Roger had. This is the team that I'm hoping we could be this year.
Waters and Lewis retired after 81 season, Hollywood was cut in the middle of 1979 season because of his substance abuse. Right before Thanksgiving. In 1980 he played for San Francisco and Houston for a total of 8 games and then was done.
S James I don't understand how they stop great running team like Seattle with Warner and have the number 2 defense against the run but go out first game in playoffs against the Rams after a successful season. I guess Eric Dickerson was really that good
they werent the same after the redskins game I don't get it though they should have been motivated to get another shot instead they clearly took the rams lightly and just were outplayed
Donald Pennington: I think their confidence was severely shaken after being dominated -- *at home* -- by the Redskins the following week. This apparent loss of confidence manifested in their regular season finale against the 49ers, who beat them even worse than Washington did. As a result of those two humiliating defeats, the Cowboys who played the Rams in the playoffs were simply not the same team, psychologically, that they were just a few weeks earlier.
@@SingleTax yep. Thats how i remember it too. The cowboys started fighting with the redskins in the endzone after the redskins did their fun bunch celebration in the cowboys endzone. Final was 31-10. This 1983 Cowboys team STILL has the team record 479 points scored in a season. What a shame it was wasted away.
that 4th and inches botch up against the redskins ruined there season

Sorely missed I have not about Mr Gleiber in a long time true legend
The Dallas Cowboys and The Seattle Seahawks last played in 1980 on the Thanksgiving classic. The meet again in the 1986 Thanksgiving classic.
Back when the NFL was real!
I grew up during this time as well. So strange that the Seahawks are in the NFC West now.
STOP 🛑 stop. Always been real

A couple of observations. Gina's dad was the holder. Bill Bates was the only player from this team that played on the '92 Super Bowl team.
Mark Tuinei as well

Dave Kreig always underrated and of course the hall of famer Steve Largent

The last great day for the Tom Landry Cowboys
Someone put sugar in the Gas Tank on Landry's 83 Cowboys after this game.

Amazing to think this was the only time Dallas visited the Kingdome
They also did in 1976

The Cowboys didn't lose much when White replaced the retiring Staubach, but it was enough to make a difference going forward.
Cowboys second and final game playing against the Seahawks at the Kingdome.
Too Tall knew he had a mismatch and abused that poor guy. I actually felt sorry for him. Why Knox never gave him any help is beyond me.
In today s NFL , Kenny Easly would of been placed as a MLB Hybrid SS due to the RPO Offenses.
