Great post of a great game. Plus Enberg and Olsen were 2 of the best.

Thanks for the upload. This game brings back some good memories. This was a wild game. Couldn't wait for the Seahawks/Jets game to end so NBC would pick this game up.
So cool seeing Landry vs Shula. Both looking dapper unlike the coaches nowadays. So great seeing Mel Renfro enter the Cowboys ROH at halftime.
The irony would be both Woodley and Walls had outstanding games and bad too. Same with Cefalo and Harris.
Danny White would come through late.
Enberg and Olsen were a very good tandem in the booth.

Two legendary NFL coaches: Tom Landry and Don Shula

One of the greatest regular season games in NFL history. Danny White to Ron Spring covered by 4 Dolphins was amazing!!

Two excellent teams in 1981. Both were eliminated in the playoffs later, but in two of the greatest playoff games in NFL history:Dallas at San Francisco and San Diego at Miami. This could have been the Super Bowl match-up if both had won those two very close, great games.

Gorgeous Miami uniforms, with a bolder "Ocean Blue" jersey and nice sleeve stripes. Killer B's for Dolphins tough to run on for Dorsett early in the game. Cowboys loaded with depth/talent.

I'm a Cowboys fan but those Dolphins uniforms were nice.

Most teams today could take a lesson from those uniforms, and others of the time. Today's look is often bizarre

@@roysorgoyea today they look like spandex ballerinas. tiny shoulder pads look absurd. football players need to go back to looking as they should...like gladiators

Just woke up and had this game in my head. Remember Woodley with 409 yards with 3 tds, 5 ints and the D not holding? Still should have won without vonfoot. It sucks for Woodley, cause he came right out of the wishbone to a pro Set an I. One hell of an athlete. No questions asked. If he came along in 2000 and was sat down to learn route reading, then make the throws. There would have been no Marino as Jimmy Cefalo once said, strongest arm I've ever seen! I be live if Nat played, they win this game. Its ashamed and tragic what happened to David. Remember the la game we were a 10 point dog in the year before? First player to throw, run and catch a TD in a game. He thrived in what he was used to. Everytime I see The GOAT, I think back to all the wasted talent that never had a chance to learn and thrive. Wherever your soul is, thanks for helping to right the ship, you deserved better. RIP David Woodley

I second that thought , he went from the Pinnacle of his sport to being out of Football in 5 years without a career ending Injury , 2 great coaches just gave up on him too soon and as a result his life was lost early to Alcoholism.

Always enjoyed watching Danny White throw the football. Underrated quality QB. Two elite franchises at the time...Dolphins had some excellent defensive minded teams in the early 80s...just lacking at the QB position. Woodley gets forgotten due to who immediately followed him...he was a mistake prone QB who sadly suffered from some mental health issues.
Watching Dorsett run is something else. Smooth as silk and accelerated like few others. Tremendous vision

Sad what became of Woodley. Strong arm and a good guy, just overwhelmed by anxiety troubles that led to excess drinking and an early death

Didn't know that about him. Very sad. If those Cowboys had a guy like him they would have won another super bowl.

I'm still wondering why Shula, with his team up 27-21, didn't call a couple of running plays just to chew time on the clock.

The only two modern coaches to rebuild their teams several times and remain competitive. In this game they showcased their rivalry including a couple of "trick" plays. Or as Landry desribed them "exotic plays".
